dovie towe bingham

 

Mrs. Dovie Towe Bingham, age 79, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002, in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Mrs. Bingham was born in Union county, Georgia, on Friday, December 8, 1922, a daughter of the late Cage Towe and the late Mary Roper Towe.  A lifelong resident of Blairsville, she was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist church.  Mrs. Bingham was a charter member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Nottley Chapter #471.  She loved her family, and was an avid gardener and loved her flowers.  Mrs. Bingham loved to quilt and sew.  Other than her parents, Mrs. Bingham had been preceded in death by two daughters, Ellen Moore in 1999, and Dovie Dyer in 1994, and four grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Roy W. Bingham, of Blairsville; daughters: Blanche Patterson, Mary Holbrook, Sarah Anderson, Betty Brewer, and Bonnie Tolliver, all of Blairsville; Diane Simmons of Cleveland, Georgia; sons: Roy L. Bingham, of Blairsville; Joe Bingham, of Hiwassee Dam; and Tony Bingham, of North Carolina; a sister, Dora Fortenberry of Blairsville; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren also survive, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 21, 2002, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Rev. Jimmy Rogers, Rev. Waymon Lovell, and Rev. Larry Allison on officiating.  Specially selected music was presented by The Faith Singers.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Tim Wheeler, Albert Garrett, Keith Donaldson, Wayne Thomas, Jeff and Dale Underwood.  Interment was in Providence Methodist Church Cemetery.  If you wish, memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. bill dervin

 

Mr. Bill Dervin, age 86, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Dervin was born in Warren County, New Jersey, on Wednesday, February 23, 1916, a son of the late Frank J. Dervin and Ida Snyder Dervin.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served during World War II.  Mr. Dervin had been living in this area since 1980, moving here from Whitehouse Station, New Jersey.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County, and Darcy Masonic Lodge, Chapter #37, F&AM, in Flemington, New Jersey.  Besides his parents, he had been preceded in death by a brother, Myron James Dervin.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mildred K. Dervin, of the home; son, William James Dervin, of Winchester, KY and Richard Thomas Dervin, of Holland, Michigan; three grandchildren; Matthew William Dervin, of Marietta, GA; Jeffery Dervin and Mitchell Dervin, both of Holland, Michigan; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Eddie Herring officiating.  Interment will follow in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family has suggested that memorials could be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia, or to The American Cancer Society.

alvin dewey nichols

 

Mr. Alvin Dewey Nichols, age 76, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2002, in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Nichols was born in Union County, Georgia, on Saturday, August 1, 1925, a son of the late George Nichols and Ruby Fowler Nichols.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served during World War II, in the Pacific Theatre.  Mr. Nichols lived in St. Clair Shores, Michigan for 34 years, where was employed in the automobile manufacturing industry.  He moved back to Blairsville in 1983, and was a member of New Union Baptist Church.  Mr. Nichols was also a member of the NRA.  Tow sons, Phillip and Alvin D. Nichols, preceded him indeath.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Mae Mashburn Nichols, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Preston Robbins, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Adrian Nichols, of Mt. Morris, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law Marie and Jim Gleason, of Clinton Township, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Melonie and Skip Payne, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Herb and Rita Nichols, of Warren, Michigan; son, Gene Nichols, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and George Burton, of Bay City, Michigan; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Della Nichols, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; son and daughter-in-law, John and Pam Nichols, of Mocksville, North Carolina; daughter, Polly Schulz, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Jeff Wright, of Redding, California; a sister, Helen Malone, of Blairsville; four brothers: G.D. Nichols, of New Baltimore, Michigan; Bill Nichols, of Smyrna, Georgia; Gib and Larry Nichols, of Blairsville, 24 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at 3:00 p.m., from New Union Baptist church, with Rev. Tom Ford and Rev. Don Hood officiating.  Special music was presented by Larry, Bill and Darren Nichols and Skip Payne.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Lynn Nichols, Herb Nichols, Terry Nichols, Johnny Nichols, Kevin Payne, Brian Payne, Kyle Nichols, Jeff Nichols, and Gene Nichols.  Military Honors were presented by The North Georgia Honor Guard.  Interment was in New Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bobbye cardullo white

 

Mrs. Bobbye Cardullo White, age 48, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002, in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. White was born in Kings County, New York, on Sunday, April 11, 1954.  She was a public school teacher at Hiawassee Dam School where she taught for many years.  Mrs. White had been living in the Blairsville area since 1975, moving here from Hollywood, Florida.  She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God in Hiawassee, Georgia.

Surviving Bobbye are her parents, James and Josephine Cardullo, of Blairsville; her son, Michael Dylan White, of Blairsville; Dylan’s family: Michael and Carol White, Jennifer, Michelle and Matthew, all of Blairsville; sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Mark Rivera, of Maryville, TN; nephew, Gus Rivera and niece, Nicole Rivera; many friends and other relatives survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 22, 2002, at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Greg Roberts officiating.  Special music was presented by Lacie Underwood and Tony Ford.  Interment was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
