Mr. Wayne
Payne 73, of Clermont, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 17, 1996 in
Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mr. Payne
was born in Union County, Georgia, on October 13,
1922, a son of the late Hershel Payne and Callie Self Payne. Mr. Payne has served for a period of time in
the Civilian Conservation Corps. He had
lived in Hall County for forty one years.
Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Payne,
in 1988. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant
Baptist
Church.
Surviving
are, daughter and son in law, Lois and Leo Truelove; son and daughter
in law,
George Loyd and Barbara Payne; son and daughter in law, Harley and Mary
Payne;
son and daughter in law, Paul and Wanda Payne; Daughter and son in law,
Linda
and Paul Ingram; and daughter and son in law, Lovelle and Jeff Halsey,
all of
Clermont; four sisters: Radie Mae Roper, of Blue Ridge, GA; Betty
Roper, of
Resaca, GA; Lorene Taylor, of Morganton, GA; and Hattie Hixon, of
Dalton, GA;
brother, Jesse Payne of Blairsville; six grandchildren, five great
grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, July 20, 1996 at 11 a.m. from New Harmony
Baptist
Church with Rev. Willis Garrett and Rev. Horace Potts officiating. Specially selected music was presented by
Linda and Sylvan Pickelsimer. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Hubert Shook, Bo Conley,
Alvin
Garrett, Dorsey Dockery, Jerry Hood, and Anthony Garrett.
Interment was in New Harmony Baptist Church
Cemetery.
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.

Robert
Ty Cobb, age 69, of Blairsville, GA., died Friday, July 19, 1996, in a
Union County,
GA, hospital.
Mr. Cobb
was a native of Kern County, California, but had
been a resident and dairy farmer in the Dooley Community since February
of
1953. He was a U. S. Army Air Corp.
Veteran. Mr. Cobb was a member of Dooley
Lodge #367 of Blairsville, GA., he served on
the Board
of Directors of the First Union Bank, he taught school from 1955 to
1959 at
Murphy High School, and was of the Methodist faith.
He was the son of the late John Shaffer and
Hazel Christine Jacobson Cobb.
He is
survived by his wife, Royna Mae Coe Cobb; three sons, Robert Ty Cobb,
Jr., John
Roy Cobb, and Christopher B. Cobb, of Blairsville, GA.; one brother,
Johnny B.
Cobb of California, one sister, Juanita Hudson of Ontario, CA.; three
grandsons, Robert Ty Cob III, Richard Craig Cobb, and Johnathan Wallace
Cobb.
Funeral
services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 1996, at the Townson
Rose
Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev.
James Brock and Rev. Jerry Young officiated.
Burial was in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
Masonic members of Dooley Lodge #367 served
as pallbearers and conducted Masonic Graveside Rites.
Memorials
may be made to the Masonic Home of Georgia.
Townson
