James
Earl Parker, 66, a retired service
manager, died July 14, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Parker was born in Blairsville,
Ga. He retired in 1989 from
International Harvester-Norfolk Truck Center after 39 years of service. After retirement, he resumed employment for
Navistar at the Ford plant in Chesapeake.
He was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, an active member
of the
American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), member of Point O淡oods
Garden
Club and Civic League and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Bow Creek
Golf
Course.
Survivors include his wife, Betty
Parker; two daughters, Linda Beasley and husband Teddy of
Lawrenceville, Ga.
and Lois Brown and husband Ted of Athens, Ga.; his mother, Laura Parker
of
Blairsville, Ga; three sisters, Barbara Colwell and Jane Collins, both
of
Blairsville, and Jean Kendall of Hiawassee, Ga; four brothers, Zane
Parker of
Greensboro, N.C., and Jack Parker, Ray Parker and Bill Parker, all of
Blairsville; and two grandchildren, Marie Beasley McDonald and Jason M.
Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 4
p.m. today at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel.
Burial will be private. Family will
receive friends at the funeral
home at 3 p.m. prior to the service and after the service.

Mrs.
Della Gibson Collins, 68, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 16, 1995 in Union
General
Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Collins was born in Clay
County, North Carolina, on May 15, 1927, a daughter of the late Harvey
and
Naomi Hogsed Gibson. She had lived in
the Blairsville area for most of her life.
Mrs. Collins was a member of Trackrock Baptist Church. Her twin daughters, Ollie and Dollie Collins
and a brother, Carl Gibson, preceeded (sic) Mrs. Collins in death..
Surviving are her husband, Mr. J.T.
Collins, of the hone; daughters and sons in law: Alice and Clint
McCollum, of
Gillsville, Georgia and Charlene and Jack Reis, of Gainesville,
Georgia; sons
and daughters in law, Bobby and Joan Collins, and Tony and Trina
Collins all of
Blairsville; three sisters: Cora Anderson, Mary Lou Anderson, and Lelia
Waldroup,
all of Hayesville, North Carolina; a brother, Wayne Gibson, also of
Hayesville;
two grandchildren also survive: Christy and Shane Collins, of
Blairsville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
July 18, 1995 at 11:00 AM from Trackrock Baptist Church with Rev.
Harley Hunter
officiating. Special music was presented
by Terry Hooper and accompanied by Frances Ballard.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Larry Collins, Todd Collins, David Copp, Raymond Dover,
Charles
Hamilton, and Dean Waldroup. Interment
was in Trackrock Baptist church Cemetery.
In lieu
of flowers,
the family requests that memorial contributions be made to American
Cancer
Society, c/o Union General Hospital Auxiliary.

Mr. Ray
O誰eil, age 77, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 1995 in Union General Hospital
in
Blairsville.
Mr. O誰eil was a native of Canada,
but had lived in this area since 1980, coming here from Detroit. He was a member of First United Methodist
Church of Union County, and also a member of the Union County Lions
Club. His wife, Mrs. Lorena Crawford
O誰eil, passed
always last year.
Surviving are a brother, Bill
O誰eil, and a sister, Barbara O誰eil Burton, both of Ontario; a number
of step
children, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday,
July 20, 1995 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home with Dr.
Robert
Darby and Rev. Danny Parris officiating.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Brian Rogers,
Mark
Rogers, Michael Rogers, Brent Rogers, Keith Rogers, Clayton Brown, and
Joffre
Crawford. Members of the Union County
Lions club served as Honorary Escort to the family.
Interment was in Union Memory Gardens
Cemetery.
In lieu

Mrs.
Florence Barrett Gill, 87, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 16, 1995 in Union County
Nursing
Home in Blairsville.
Mrs. Gill was born November 2, 1907
in Franklin County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Thomas and Annie
Grant
Barrett. She had lived in this area for
five years, coming here from Ottumwa, Iowa.
Mrs. Gill was a member of the First Christian Church in Iowa. She was a member of PEO, and was involved in
many church activities, and also performed volunteer hospital work. Mrs. Gill was a graduate of Transylvania
College. Preceding her in death was her
husband the late Rev. Donald Gill, her brother, Guy O. Barrett, and
sister,
Wilhelmina Grant Barrett.
Surviving are a daughter, Margie
Chambers, of Blairsville; a son, Donald B. Gill, of San Diego,
California;
seven grandchildren: Kirk Chambers, Doug Chambers, and Angie Chambers;
and
Stephen Gill, John Gill, Rebecca Gill, and Josh Gill.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
July 18, 1995 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the funeral home with Rev.
Bethel
Buchanan and Rev. Mark Towery officiating.
Music was presented by Mrs. Gloria Griggs. The
following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Kirk Chambers, Doug Chambers, Larry Chambers, Rex Patton,
Jimmy
Everett, and Tyson Chambers. Interment
was in Providence Methodist Church Cemetery.
