linnie leona killian

 

Mrs. Linnie Leona Killian, age 76, of Honeysuckle Ln., Blairsville went home to be with Jesus on Friday, July 27, 2007 from an extended illness.  Leona was born on March 12, 1931 to the late Henry Warren and the late Katherine Sparks Warren.  She was preceded in death by hr wonderful husband John William (Bill) Killian of forty-five years and one infant son, Joey Killian.  She built her life around her family and church.  She was a member of new Harmony Baptist Church and was very active in directing and singing in the choir.

Surviving Mrs. Killian are her sons and daughters-in-law, John Raymond and Donna Kay Killian, Royce Lee and Barbara Jean Killian all of Blairsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Helen and Zane Richard marsh of Oakwood, GA; two living sisters, Ana Lee Rogers of Fannin County, Odith Ballew of the Union County Nursing Home; six grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 10 great-stepgrandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 20, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the rev. Kenny Beavers and Rev. Chad Underwood officiating.  Special music was presented by the Kelley Trio.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Joey Marsh, Corey Marsh, Darren Hughes, Blake Melton, J.E. Corn and Cecil Warren.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

ann tonita chamberlin

 

Mrs. Ann Tonita Chamberlin, age 59, of Copperhead Rd., Blairsville formerly of Clearwater, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Chamberlin was born on October 10, 1947 in Waterberry, CT, the daughter of the late Ray Villanueva and the late Esperanza Sanduli Villanueva.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Villanueva in 2006.  Mrs. Chamberlin was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Clearwater, FL.

Surviving Mrs. Chamberlin are one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Elizabeth Lindsey of Blairsville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Nina and Edward Broyles of Clearwater, FL, Lori Lindsey of Clearwater, FL; seven grandchildren, Hope, Wesley, Sarah, Jonathan, Julia, Danielle, Nadia, Harmony and Michael; special friends, Gladys Adams, Doris Chamberlin, Linda Mears and Cash; many other relatives and friends also survive.

A private memorial service will be held in Florida at a alter date.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to St. Judes Hospital in Mrs. Chamberlin’s memory.

guy “garnie” lee abercrombie

 

Mr. Garnie Lee Abercrombie, age 83, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007 at his residence.  Mr. Abercrombie was born Sunday, April 6, 1924 in Union County, GA, to the late Charlie Abercrombie and the late Callie Harkins Abercrombie.  He was of the Baptist Faith.  Mr. Abercrombie had worked as a farmer, a builder, a brick mason, and a cabinet maker.  He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran.  He was preceded in death by three sons: Jerry, Kenneth and Larry Abercrombie; sisters, Myrtle Burnette and Gertrude Thweatt; and brothers, John and Emory Abercrombie.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Grace Abercrombie of Blairsville; grandson and wife, Barry and Jenny Abercrombie of Chatsworth, GA; granddaughter and husband, Melissa and Perry Groves of Blairsville; great-granddaughters, Morgan and Savannah; great-grandsons, John and Deacon; sister, Alma Little of Blairsville; and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with rev. Don Hood and Rev. Scott McKechnie officiating.  Music was provided by Brian Sosensky and Debbie Miller.  Interment followed in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Perry Groves, Barry Abercombie, Bo Johnson, Herman Garrett, Bill Coker and Scott McKechnie.  Honorary pallbearers included the following gentlemen: Johnny Evans, Bobby Sexton, Clarence Gibson, Richard Morgan, Glenn Gooch, Jimmy Everett and Eugene McClure.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Saturday, July 28.  Garnie will be missed by all who knew him.  He will forever be remembered for his kindness and generosity.  He truly touched the lives of all who knew him with his wonderful sense of humor.

w. horace smith

 

Mr. W. Horace Smith age 79, of 12 Point Rd., Blairsville formerly of Rootville, GA, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at his home following a brief illness.  Mr. Smith was born on October 9, 1927 in Bibb County, AL, the son of the late Hugh Smith and the late Nora Levens Smith.  He was a retired Policeman and had served with the City of Denver for over eighteen years.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines of WWII.  One of his favorite hobbies was his garden and he also loved to travel.  Horace never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew him.  He was preceded in death by a son, Martin Smith in 1995.  Mr. Smith was a member of the Providence United Methodist church.

Surviving Mr. Smith are his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Barbara Allen Smith of Blairsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Gil Slegl of Barnesville, GA, Monica and Louis Brindisi of Grand Junction, CO; one son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Amy Smith of Aurora, CO; one brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Ramona Smith of Albany, GA; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. from the Providence United Methodist Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Gibson officiating.  IN lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Providence U.M.C. Cemetery fund in Mr. Smith’s memory.
