Mrs.
Nan Craven Holt, age 74, of Holt Road, Blairsville, passed away on
Monday, July
23, 2012 in Marietta, GA following an extended illness. Mrs. Holt was
born on
January 29, 1938 in Tallapoosa, GA, the daughter of the late Acca Craven and the late Bernice Bagwell Craven.
Nan was a
loving mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was preceded in death
by her
husband, William "Lee" Holt in 2000. Mrs. Holt was of the Methodist
faith.
Surviving
Mrs. Holt are one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Tina Holt of
Ellijay, GA,
one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Joe Rogers of Marietta, three
grandchildren, Arden, Brooke and William Lee Holt III, nephew and
niece-in-law,
Joe Jr. and Tammy Rogers of Marietta, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the Shady
Grove
United Methodist Church with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating. Special music
was
presented by Carolyn Filer. Interment followed in the Shady Grove
Church
Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband, Lee. The
family met
with friends at the church on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of
flowers if you
wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Shady Grove
Methodist Church Cemetery Fund in Mrs. Holt’s memory.

Mr.
David Andrew Powell Jr. age 81 of Liberty Hill Rd., Blairsville passed
away on
Saturday, July 28, 2012 in the Chatuge
Nursing Home
following an extended illness. Mr. Powell was born on August 7, 1930 in
Vicennes, IN, the son of the late David A.
Powell Sr. and
the late Ethel Blanchard Powell. He was a veteran of the US Army of the
Korean
War. David enjoyed training animals and raising cattle. He was a loving
husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and
great-great
grandfather. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Lee and
Delbert
Powell and one sister, Grace Roberson. Mr. Powell was of the Christian
faith.
Surviving
Mr. Powell are his loving wife of seventeen years, Vendetta Rogers
Powell of
Blairsville, six children, Dan and Lynn Powell of Blairsville, Jim and
Amber
Powell and Dallas Powell of Ninevah, IN,
Deanna and
Jeff Nance of Campbelltown, IN, Debbie Fishback of Coccamo,
IN, Denise
Powell of Vincenes, (sic) IN, four
step-children,
Danny and Jenny Holt, Mel and Christine (Waters) Holt, Nita Hollaway
and Bobby and Tina Rogers all of Blairsville, one sister, Melbadean
Williams of Vincennes, IN, twelve grandchildren, six
great-grandchildren, seven
step-grandchildren, seven step great- grandchildren, two
great-great-great
grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if

Mr.
Bob Lewis Huggins age 80 of Kiutuestia
Creek Rd.,
Blairsville passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home following
an
extended illness. Mr. Huggins was born on June 12, 1932 in Union
County, the
son of the late John H. Huggins and the late Octavia Amanda Walker
Huggins. Bob
retired in 1994 from Lockheed Martin as a machinist. He was a veteran
of the US
Army of the Korean War. He served as Chaplin with the North Georgia
Honor Guard
for the past several years and had been a member since 1995. He was a
member of
the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ruth
Perkins Huggins
in 2001. Bob was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was attending
Harmony
Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Huggins are one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Donald Jones of
Blairsville, two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Susan Huggins of
Duluth,
GA, Johnny and Tammy Huggins of Clayton, GA, three step-sons, Ed and
Linda Rich
of Uharlee, GA, Ron Rich of Blairsville,
Bobby Dyer
of Blairsville, one step-daughter, Ellen Dillinger of Blue Ridge, one
brother
and sister-in-law, James R. and Earlene Huggins of Bristol, VA,
grandchildren,
Mike Rich, Jamey Mull, Jodie Poteete,
Scott Rich,
Derrick and Lauren Dillinger, Sheena Jones, Lori Smith, Cory Huggins,
Jenna
Huggins, Shauna Jones, Kile Jones, Tristan
Huggins
and Chason Huggins, great grandchildren,

Bradley Puccio, Braden Poteete,
Kamryn Mull, Aiden Jones, Konner
Peek, Kooper Peek, Carson Rich, Jax

Funeral
services were held on Wednesday July 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. Special music
was
presented by the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Music Ministry. The
following
gentleman served as pallbearers, Mike Rich, Jamey Mull, Scott Rich,
Tristan and
Chason Huggins, Derrick Dillinger, Cory
Huggins, Kile Jones, Bradley Puccio, Bobby
Dyer and Ron Rich. Serving as honorary pallbearers were members of the
North
Georgia Honor Guard. Interment followed in the Old Union Baptist Church
Cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday
evening
from 6-8 p.m.

Eva Nell Holbrooks Smith, 60, of 150
Rose Garden Circle, Westminster, SC, wife of Billy Maynard Smith who
was
formerly of the Love Springs Community, passed away Tuesday, July 17,
2012 at her
residence.
Born
in Blairsville, GA to the late C.A. and Bertha Holbrooks,
she was employed with Dunlop and was a member of Old Country Church.
Survivors
in addition to her husband include a son, Carlton Enloe
of Walhalla; daughter, Michelle Denny of Westminster; stepson, Billy
Smith of
Abilene, Texas; stepdaughter, Erica Witzke
of
Columbus, GA; brothers, Quinton and Ted Holbrooks;
and sisters, Leon (sic) Hunter, Joyce Teague, Phyllis Fuller, Lavada Cheek, and Reeda
Fay
Kelley; 4 grandchildren, James and Nicholas Enloe
and
Kaley and Karen Denny; 3
step-grandchildren, Madison,
Lawrence, and David Witzke; and two
great-grandchildren.
In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother,
Calvin Holbrooks; and her niece, Stephanie
Teague Sharrock.
A
funeral service was held 2 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 from the
chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. Burial
followed in Heritage Memorial
Gardens. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, July 19,
2012 at

Mrs.
Delores Roena Michael age 87 of Town Creek
School
Rd., Blairsville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at
her home
following an extended illness. Mrs. Michael was born on March 29, 1925
in St.
Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Edmond Lacey Turner and the late Roena Andrews Turner. Mrs. Michael had retired
in 1980 as a
teacher with the Ritenour Jr. High School
with over
twenty-five years of service. Delores always had a green thumb and
loved
gardening. She was a member of the Blairsville Garden Club. She was a
world
traveler, traveling to many countries around the globe. She was a
loving
mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her
husband,
Harold Michael Sr. on June 24, 2012 and by a brother, Jim Turner. Mrs.
Michael
was a member of Coosa United Methodist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Michael are one son and daughter-in-law, Harold "Mike" and
Loretta Michael Jr. of Statesville, NC, one daughter and son-in-law,
Mary Wangersheim of Fallbrook, CA, one
brother and
sister-in-law, Doug and Laura Lee Turner of Clover, SC, two
grandchildren,
Rachel and Amanda Wangersheim, several
nieces,
nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
