Mr. Frank
Sylvester Ford, Jr. 73, of
Blairsville passed away July 31, 1995.
Mr. Ford was born in Lititz, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1922, the son
of the
late Frank S. and Laura (Sturgis) Ford.
Mr. Ford graduated from Reading High
School, attended the University of Illinois, University of Chicago,
Perdue
University, Liberty Bible college, receiving a ThD. from the Trinity
Hall
College and Seminary; a LHD degree from the Harvest Christian College
and
Seminary.
Mr. Ford served in the 2nd Infantry
Division, Army Specialized Training Program, 76th Infantry Division, CO
C, 304th
Regiment, Infantry Combat Scout, European Theatre.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Florence Margaret Ness Ford of the home; daughters: JoAnn F. Lowell,
wife of
Robert Lowell, Blairsville, GA; Jeanne F. Perry, Blairsville, GA; Joyce
E.
Ford, wife of James Riddle, Winona, MN; grandchildren: Julianna Morton,
Christian McCarty, Kate Lowell, Molly Lowell, Ned Lowell, Laura
Riddle-Ford,
Sonja Riddle-Ford, and Kelly Perry.
Mr. Ford was a member of: The
Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 11, Blairsville; The American
Legion, Post
56, Lititz, PA; The American Legion, Posts 121, Blairsville; Veterans
of
Foreign Wars, Post 7394, Blairsville; AMVETS, State of Georgia; North
Georgia

Memorial services will be held
Friday, August 4th at 4:00 PM at the House of Prayer. Interment
in the Holly Hill Cemetery located
on the Ford Mountain Road, just off the Richard Russell Scenic Highway,
with
the North Georgia Honor Guard officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made in memory of Frank S. Ford, Jr. to the House of Prayer Church for
the
Christian Life Center, P.O. Box 1475, Blairsville, GA 30512.

Mrs.
Alice Lillian Lock 73, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 30, 1995 in Union General Hospital in
Blairsville.
Mrs. Lock was born in Providence,
Rhode Island on December 10, 1921. She
was a homemaker. Mrs. Lock was a
resident of Brevard County, Florida from 1949 to 1985, and moved to
Blairsville
in 1985. She was a member of the Emblem
Club with the Elks Club. Mrs. Lock was a
member of Ivy Log Baptist Church in Blairsville.
Surviving are her husband of forty
two years, Mr. Armond D. Lock, of Blairsville; three children: son, Leo
F.
Emond, of Laurel, Maryland; son, Brian K. Lock, of West Melbourne,
Florida and
son, Donald w. Lock, of Palm Bay, Florida; five grandchildren; and a
brother,
George Smith, of East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
Funeral services will be held Thursday,
August 3, 1995 at 10:00 a.m. from Brownlie-Maxwell Chapel in Melbourne,
Florida.

Mrs. Ida
Nix Dyer, age 85, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 23, 1995 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Atlanta.
Mrs. Dyer was the daughter of the
late James and Margaret Ruth Hunter Dyer.
She was born in Union County on November 20, 1909.
Mrs. Dyer was a homemaker and the widow of
the late John Franklin Dyer. A lifelong
resident of this area, Mrs. Dyer was a member of Pinetop Baptist church.
Surviving are three daughters,
Dorothy Dyer and Lavada Hood, both of Blairsville and Paulette Ramsey f
Cumming, GA; five sons, Wayne Dyer, Crett Dyer, Russell Dyer, and Mike
Dyer,
all of Blairsville, and Lewis Dyer of Gainesville; sixteen
grandchildren and
ten great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held on Monday,
July 24, 1995 at 2 p.m. from Pinetop Baptist Church with Rev. Henry
Loggins and
Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Music was
presented by Susie Phillips, Louise
DeLong, and Sarah Kelley. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Tim Dyer, Ivan Dyer, Kenny Dyer, Scott
Dyer,
Robert Dyer, Danny Dyer, Max Hood and Calvin Hood.
Interment was in Pinetop Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mr. Wiley
James Wells, age 54, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, July 22, 1995 in Union
General
Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Wells was born November 2, 1940
in Haywood County, North Carolina, a son of the late Robert B. Wells
and Rosa
T. Trull Wells. He had lived in this
area for several years, and was employed at Greiling Farms. Mr. Wells was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include two brothers,
Ervin Wells of Blairsville and Mingus Wells of Canton, NC; five
sisters, Bertha
Haney of Buffalo, SC, Ruby Strickland of Asheville, NC, Belle Wells and
Hazel
Wells, both of Canton, NC and Connie Hayes of Stewart, FL.
Funeral services were held Monday,
July 24, 1995 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev.
Tommy
Jones and Rev. Raymond White officiating.
Special music was presented by Robert Sosebee.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Harold Wells, Bill Haney, Emmett Payne, Jeff Hopper, Mark
Wells,
and J.M. Grizzel. Interment was in Mt.
Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Eulas
Lee Chambers born May 7, 1917 died
March 27, 1995. He was a native of Union
County. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
W. T. Chambers. He had lived the last 50
years in Detroit, MI. He retired from
General Motors, a Veteran of World War II, a 50 year member of Young
Cane Lodge
597, Blairsville, and of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Barrett
Chambers; two sons: Robert and Randal Chambers, Detroit, MI; one
daughter,
Patti Chambers, Detroit, MI; two brothers: Julius and Vernon Chambers,
Blairsville, GA. Four sisters: Bonnie
Harkins, Atlanta, GA; Eula Grace Stanislorski, Flat Rock, MI; Betty
Gray,
Blairsville, GA, Connie Akins, Maryville, TN; a sister-in-law, Mrs.
Dollie
Chambers, Marietta GA. Six grand
children and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held March 30th
at 8 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Robert D. White officiating.
Burial in the Battle Creek Military Cemetery in Michigan.

Mrs.
Bertha Phillips. 77 of Young Harris,
Georgia, passed away Friday, July 28, 1995 in Northeast Georgia Medical
Center
in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Union
County, Georgia, on September 16, 1917, a daughter of the late Arthur
Henderson
and Inkabo Grant Henderson. She was a
homemaker and a lifelong resident of this area.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of Gumlog Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were two brothers:
Frank and Herbert Henderson; and two sons, Cecil and Charles Phillips.
Surviving are her husband, Mr. Joe
Phillips of Blairsville; two sons: Hal Phillips, of Young Harris, and
Troy
Phillips, of Blairsville; a daughter, Charlotte Murphy of Blairsville;
two
brothers: Wayne and Oscar Henderson, both of Blairsville, and two
sisters:
Pauline Young of Blairsville and Ruby Martin of Ducktown, Tennessee;
six
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
July 30, 1995 at 2:30 PM from Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Burline
Thomason and rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.
Providing music for the service were the Masters.
The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Mark Phillips, Junior
Phillips, Tony Hunter, Junior Akins, Ronald Phillips, and Roy Phillips. Interment was in Ebenezer Baptist Church
Cemetery.
