fredia louise reynolds mckinney

 

Mrs. Fredia Louise Reynolds McKinney, age 84, of Forrest Circle, Blairsville, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2002 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mrs. McKinney was born on June 18, 1918 in Towns Co., GA, the daughter of the late Jasper Reynolds and the late Vashia Phillips Reynolds.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd George McKinney in 1975, and by a granddaughter, Tina Proffit in 1986.  She had attended Youngstown Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. McKinney are one daughter, Shirley Sardina of Blairsville, two sons and daughter in laws, Roy G. and Agnus McKinney of Stockton, CA, Kenneth and Marty McKinney of Overland Park, KS, one brother, Joe Reynolds of Marietta, two sisters, Dora Lee Cable of Hayesville, Patricia Ann Reynolds of Charlotte, NC, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 31, 2002 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leon Henderson officiating.  Special music was presented by Rev. Leon Henderson.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Manuel Sardina, Michael Sardina, Joe Reynolds, Kenneth McKinney, Terry Parker and Jimmy Stovell.  Interment followed in the old Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery in Young Harris.

zeddic albert belch

 

Mr. Zeddic Albert Belch, age 84, of Darby Lane, Blairsville, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2002 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Zeddic was born on Feb. 1, 1918 in Norfolk, VA, the son of the late Zeddic A. Belch and the late Lula Mae Morgan Belch.  He was a retired carpenter with the Norfolk Shipco Co.  He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of the VFW, a member of Ruritan Int., and a member of Woodville Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Belch are his loving wife of sixty six years, Ida Edwards Belch, one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Howard (Ty) Cobb of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Jean Belch, Sr. of Virginia Beach, VA, one sister, Johnetta Pettingill of Ahoskie, NC, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jake Mullins and Rev. Terry Jones officiating.  Special music was presented by Janet Belch.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Carlton Elliott, Danny Privatt, Eugene Roundtree, Robert Perry, Charles Cobb and Roger Belch II.  Interment followed in the Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, NC.

esther c. deberry

 

Mrs. Esther C. DeBerry, age 86, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at her home.

Mrs. DeBerry was born on Tuesday, December 7, 1915, in Volusia County, Florida, a daughter of the late Kirby Lowd Chilton and Ulrika Henritt Dohn Chilton.  She was a retired church secretary.  Mrs. DeBerry had lived in Blairsville since 1979, when she moved from Stuart, Florida.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.  Mrs. DeBerry was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. D.P. DeBerry, who passed away on July 5, 1992.  Mrs. DeBerry leaves behind many friends who loved her dearly.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 2, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Re. Danny Parris officiating.  Special music was presented by Mrs. Jackie Hill and minister of music, R. Terry Hooper.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Lewis Jordan, Horace Parker, Neal Moon, John Killebrew, Robert Gray, and Homer Payne.  Interment was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville.
