Mr. Carl
Brooks, age 91, of Stockbridge,
Georgia, formerly of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August
1, 1995
in Stockbridge.
Mr. Brooks was born in Fannin
County, Georgia on July 1, 1904, a son of John Wesley Brooks and Hulda
Sluder
Brooks. Mr. Brooks moved to Lithia
Springs from Blairsville in 1964. His
wife, Mrs. Sarah Elizebeth Rose Brooks, passed away in 1989.
Surviving are four daughters, Essie
Daniel of Lithia Springs, Ella Carpenter of Stockbridge, GA, Imogene
Hughes of
Blairsville, and Doris Anderson of Robbinsville, NC; eighteen
grandchildren
forty great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday,
August 3, 1995 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev.
Hubert
Legg officiating. Presenting music for
the service was the Daniel Family and Betty and Hubert Legg. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Max Carpenter, Dale Carpenter, Ramie Comstock Doug Hughes,
Charles
Daniel, and Tony Daniel. Interment was
in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Louria Jane Hunt, age 85, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, July 31, 1995 in Union County
Nursing
Home in Blairsville.
Mrs. Hunt was born in Union County,
Georgia on June 15, 1910, the daughter of Landon Rich and Melvina
Flowers
Rich. She was a homemaker and a lifelong
resident of this area. Mrs. Hunt was a
member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are her brother, Mr. Fred
Rich and her sister, Mrs. Effie Payne, both of Blairsville; several
nieces and
nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday,
August 2, 1995 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev.
James
Brock and Rev. Clyde Coleman officiating.
Specially selected music was presented by the Union County
singers. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Clint Droze, Presley Rich, Lanier Payne, Truett Brackett,
Melvin
Emerson, and Wayne Roberts. Interment
was in Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery in Morganton, Georgia.

Mrs. Ida
Nix Dyer, age 85, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Saturday, July 22, 1995 in St. Joseph’s Hospital
in
Atlanta.
Mrs. Dyer was the daughter of the
late James and Margaret Ruth Hunter Nix.
She was born in Union County on November 30, 1909.
Mrs. Dyer was a homemaker and the widow of
the late John Franklin Dyer. A lifelong
resident of this area. Mrs. Dyer was a
member of Pinetop Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters,
Dorothy Dyer and Lavada Hood, both of Blairsville and Paulette Ramsey
of
Cumming, GA; five sons, Wayne Dyer, Crett Dyer, Russell Dyer, and Mike
Dyer,
all of Blairsville, and Lewis dyer of Gainesville; sixteen
grandchildren and
ten great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday
July 24, 1995 at 2 p.m. from Pinetop Baptist Church with Rev. Henry
Loggins and
Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Music was
presented by Susie Phillips, Louise DeLong, Sarah Kelley and Stover
Trio. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Tim Dyer, Ivan Dyer, Kenny Dyer, Scott Dyer, Robert Dyer,
Danny
Dyer, Max Hood and Calvin Hood.
Interment was in Pinetop Baptist Church Cemetery.

Robert
(Bob) Alex Arrant, Sr., age 96, of 65
Nottely Dam Road, Blairsville, GA died Thursday, August 3rd in Fannin
Regional
Hospital. He was a native of Macon
County, a son of the late Alex and Mary Ellen Anderson Arrant. He was married to the late Emma Sanders
Arrant who died in 1986. He was a
retired carpenter.
He is survived by one daughter, Frances
Womack of Chattanooga, TN; two sons, Kenneth Arrant of Blairsville, GA
and
Robert Arrant of Franklin, NC; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three
great
grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a daughter,
Mary Ann Zeige and a son, George Clifford Arrant.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday, August 5, 1995 at 2:30 p.m. in the Prentiss Church of God of
which he
was a member with Rev. Don Moffitt, Rev. Leon Henderson, and Rev. David
Maney officiating.
Burial will be in the Clarks Chapel
Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy
Womack, Jackie Womack, Jason Womack, Mike Sanders, Rudy Lujhan, Robert
Arrant,
and Gary Arrant.
The family will receive friends from
7-9 p.m. Friday evening at Bryant Funeral Home, where the body will
remain
until placed in the church to lie in state thirty minutes prior to the
service.

Mr. Mrs.
Leonidas Monroe “Eskimo” Hatchett, age 77, of Bellview Church
Lane, Blairsville,
GA died Thursday, August 3, 1995 in a Union County, Georgia Nursing
Home.
He was a native of Cherokee County,
NC. He owned and installed Amusement
Game machines (sic). He was a member of
the Bellview United Methodist Church. He
was a son of the late Wig Monroe and Maude Lorraine Smith Hatchett.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn
Auberry Hatchett; one son, T.L. Hatchett of Blairsville, GA; one
sister, Lois
Panther of Murphy, NC; and three granddaughters, Rachel, Christy and
Sarai
Hatchett.
Funeral services were held at 2:00
p.m. Saturday, August 5, 1995 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel,
Murphy,
NC. The Rev. Richard Irwin
officiated. Burial was in the Bellview
United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Larry Mease, Bentley Mease, Gene Auberry, Bob
Hatchett, Sonny Hatchett and Alvin Davenport.
