Mrs.
Ethyl A. Smith, age 95, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday,
August 3,
1997 at her home.
Mrs.
Smith was born in Franklin County, Ohio, on January 27,
1902, and was the daughter of the late Harry Moss and Lillian Heffner
Moss. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Smith had lived in this area for 16
months, coming here from Coral Springs, Florida, where she had lived
for 20
years. Mrs. Smith was a member of The
House of Prayer Interdenominational Church.
A daughter, Norma Puckle, passed away in 1974.
Surviving
are husband, Mr. A.D. Smith, of Blairsville; a son, Dr. Donn Smith of
Blairsville; grandchildren, Jennifer Camp, Nannette O’Neil, and Cheri
Meaders,
all of Blairsville,; John Puckle of Margate, FL.; Barbara Smith of West
Palm
beach, FL.; and Pamel (sic) Snyder of Ft. Wayne, IN.; and Donn Puckle,
of
Phoenix, AR.; 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, August 5, 1997 at 2 p.m. from Cochran
Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Bill Honaker officiating.
Special music was presented by Mildred Lecroy and Kim Thomas. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Clyde Heath, Steve Fiske, Jeff Jefferson, Cliff Goewey,
Bob
Chapin, and Ed Higgins. Interment was in
Trackrock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Mary R. Eastridge, age 91, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Wednesday,
August 6, 1997.
Mrs.
Eastridge was a native of Pennsylvania, and was born on
February 25, 1906, a daughter of the late Delbert Alvin Routh and Mary
Florence
Caldwell Routh. She had lived in this
area for seven years, coming here from Kissimee (sic) Florida. She was a member of the Order of The Eastern
Star in Florida. Mrs. Eastridge had
worked as a secretary for Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Florida
under the
direction of Dr. Eugenie Clark. She was
a member of The First Baptist Church of Blairsville, and was the widow
of the
late N.T. Eastridge.
Surviving are daughter, Mary Anne
Wicker of Blairsville; son, Walter
Delbert Ammons of Boynton Beach, Florida; brother, Paul K. Routh, of
Orlando,
FL.; 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great
grandchildren also
survive.
Memorial
services were held Saturday, August 9, 1997 at 1 p.m. from First
Baptist Church
of Blairsville with Rev. Danny Parris officiating.
Special music was presented by Mr. Terry
Hooper and Mrs. Florence Blumberg. In
lieu of flowers, if you wish, memorials may be made to First Baptist
Church of
Blairsville Building Fund, P.O. Box 2058, Blairsville, GA 30514.

Mrs.
Irene H. Langford, age 66, of Blairsville, formerly of Winder, passed
away Saturday,
August 9, 1997.
Mrs.
Langford was born November 14, 1930 in Walton County, the
daughter of the late Walter Lewis and Vida Perry Harris.
Her husband, Howard Langford preceded her in
death. Mrs. Langford and husband Howard
operated the Trainagle (sic) Restaurant in Winder before retiring.
Surviving
are three sons, Eddie, Gary, and Greg Langford, all of Winder; two
sisters,
Faye Smith of Tignall, GA. and Ivah Ree Coker of Monroe; five
grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, August 11, 1997 at Memory
Chapel of Smith Funeral Home. Rev. John
Richardson and Rev. James W. Geer officiated.

Mrs. Kate
Murphy, age 81, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, August
7, 1997
in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Mrs.
Murphy was born in Fannin County, Georgia, on March 16,
1916, a daughter of the late Joseph Elijah Patterson and Nancy Jane
Ammons
Patterson. She was a lifelong resident
of this area and was of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Purl Murphy, in 1993.
Surviving
are daughter, Virginia Payne of Blairsville; son, Arnold Murphy of
Blairsville;
daughter, Shirley Jones of Marietta, GA.; son, Wendell Murphy of
Blairsville;
daughter, Carolyn Aycoth of Winston-Salem, N.C.; son, Harold Murphy of
Blairsville; son, Dan Murphy of Blairsville; and son, Joseph Murphy of
Blairsville; sister, Grace Stephens of Maryville, TN.; brother-in-law,
Glen
Murphy of Smyrna, GA.; and sister-in-law, Cora Jones of Blairsville; 28
grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, August 9, 1997 from the chapel of Cochran
Funeral
Home of Blairsville with Rev. Francis Patterson and Rev. Frank Visser
officiating. The following gentlemen
served as
pallbearers: Gary Payne, Johnny Wallace, David Murphy, Patrick Murphy,
Russell
Murphy, and Melvin Payne. Interment was
in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Cochran Funeral Home
of
Blairsville.
