Mrs.
Helen
Huggins Collins, 65, of Milledgeville, GA passed away Thursday, August
8, 1996
in Craig Nursing Home in Milledgeville.
Mrs.
Collins was born September 25, 1931, in Union County,
GA, a daughter of the late John Harvey Huggins and Amanda Octavie
Walker
Huggins. She was a member of Old Union
Baptist church in Young Harris. Mrs.
Collins was the widow of the late Crett Collins, who passed away in
1965.
Surviving are
her daughter, Debbie Anderson, of Lula, GA; granddaughter, Amanda
Anderson,
also of Lula; brothers: Claude Hunt, of Oregon, James R. Huggins, of
Bristol,
VA; Tom Huggins, and Bob Huggins, both of Blairsville; and Roy Huggins,
of
Pontiac, Michigan.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, August 11, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Smith officiating.
Special music was presented by Johnny Huggins, and Junior
Phillips. The following gentlemen served
as
pallbearers: Scott Smith, Anthony Smith, Johnny Stroud, Richard
Nichols, Ricky
Plott, and Ray Plott. Interment was in
Choestoe Cemetery.
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr.
Walter
L. Francis, age 74, of Blairsville passed away Wednesday August 7, 1996
in
Blairsville. Mr. Francis had been a
seasonal resident in Union County for the past 3 years, spending the
summers in
Blairsville and wintering in North Ft. Myers, Florida.
He was born May 6, 1922 in Appleton,
Wisconsin. Walter served in the Marines
during World War II. After returning
home, he became a Real Estate Appraiser and worked as the Chief Review
Appraiser
for the West Virginia Department of Transportation for many years. Mr. Francis also had earned the prestigious
MAI rating (Member Appraisal Institute).
Survivors
include his wife, Betty Francis of the home; Son and Daughter-in-Law;
Thomas L.
and Dawn Francis of Columbus, Ohio; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Cheri and
Bill
O’Dowd of Lancaster, Ohio; Stepdaughter and Step-Son-in-Law, Judy and
Dan
Wintersteen of North Ft. Myers, Florida; Step-Son and
Step-Daughter-in-Law, Ken
and Char Bunger of Santa Rosa, California; Brother, Robert Francis of
Sussex,
Wisconsin; and Sister, Celine Staub of Belton, Texas, 6 grandchildren
and 2
great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday August 13, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. from St.
Peters
Catholic Church in Eagle River, Wisconsin with interment in St. Peter’s
Cemetery.
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of local arrangements.
