Mrs. Louanna Carder Gregory, age 87 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Union General Hospital.  Mrs. Gregory was born Monday, July 15, 1918 in Union County, GA.  She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was a bowling enthusist.  Mrs. Gregory was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas and Narcie Pickelsimer Carder; son, Robert Gregory; brothers, Millard, Roy, Keff, Thurman, Clifford, Clyde and Ira Carder.

Survivors include: husband, Arvil Gregory of Blairsville, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Nan A. Gregory of Blairsville, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia G. and Virgil Eddleman of Claud, TX, grandson, Christopher Gregory, granddaughter, Carrie Rollins, grandson, Chadwick Gregory, grandson, Shannon Gregory, grandson, Bo Robert Eddleman, granddaughter, Stacy Eddleman, grandson, Victor Eddleman, great granddaughter, Courtney Rollins, great granddaughter, Tiffany Eddleman, great grandson, Kelby Eddleman, great grandson, Colton Eddleman.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Carder and Rev. Tommy Jones officiating.  Music was provided by The Kelley Trio.  Interment followed in Union Memory Gardens.  Serving as pallbearers were: Chris Gregory, Bo Eddleman, Vick Eddleman, Doyle Carder, Chad Gregory and Charlie Gregory, Jr..  Honorary pallbearers include: Shannon Gregory and Robert L. Head.

mrs. birtia woody

 

Mrs. Birtia Woody, age 89, of Suches, GA, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 157 Toccoa Valley Dr., Blue Ridge, GA 30513.  Woody was born Saturday, August 5, 1916 in Fannin Co. GA to the late L.P. Long and the late Callie Free Long.  She was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by husband, Merritt Woody, and son, David Woody.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Charlotte Ann & Richard Stanley of Blue Ridge; sister, Opal Brawley of Ohio; sister, Elsie Herendon of Blairsville; sister, Othella Wynn of Suches; sister, Cleo Shields of Ohio; sister, Clara Black of Ohio; granddaughter and husband, Amie & Nat Smith; granddaughter, Amanda Woody; grandson, Robert Woody; great grandson, Gavin Smith; great grandson, Colby Smith; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 2 PM from the Henry Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Minister Tommy Kyle, officiating.  Music was provided by Summer Brys and Anthony Wynn.  Serving as pallbearers were Terry Stanley, Donald Brawley, Ray Long, Allen Black, Michael Wright, Ange Brawley, Keith Stanley, and Christ Stanley.  Interment followed in Sugarhill Baptist Cemetery.  The Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.  You

mrs. betty jean garner

 

Mrs. Betty Jean Garner age 72 of Wolf Pen Gap Rd., Suches passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mrs. Garner was born on May 28, 1933 in Macon, GA, the daughter of the late Frank Jones Becham and the late Viola Wade Becham.  She had retired from teaching.  She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Frances Becham, Caroline Pender, Sarah Veal, Gladys Ward and Frank Becham.  Mrs. Garner was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Garner are her loving husband of fifty-two years, Robert Garner of Suches, three children, Sharon Garner, Sandra (Marcial) Jimenez and Robbie Garner, one sister, Louise Griffin, one brother, Paul Becham, four grandchildren, Luci, Simon, Alia and Bobby Pereira.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday August 10, 2005 at 11 a.m. from the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Suches with the Rev. Clarence Drummond officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Paul Becham, Simon Pereira, Robert Pereira, Larry Garner, Rusty Ward and Morris Gibson.  Interment followed in the Hill Church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in Mrs. Garner’s memory.

kenneth k. kimball

 

Mr. Kenneth K. Kimball, age 86, of Lakeside Drive Blairsville, formerly of Leesburg, (Wildwood) FL, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Kimball was born on July 10, 1919 in Burr Oak, IA, the son of the late Burt Kimball and the late Loretta Kimball.  He was employed with Publix Supermarkets for his entire working career.  He was a member of the Mens Club of lakeside Village.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Bryant Kimball in 1990.  Mr. Kimball attended the House of Prayer.

Surviving Mr. Kimball are his loving companion, Audrey Bryant of St. Petersburg, FL, and also of Blairsville, two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen Tolson of Buford, GA, Connie and John McCahill of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Joshua and Zachary Tolson, Kelly and husband John Tobaben, Kenny and wife Susana McCahill; four great grandchildren, Johnny and Katie Tobaben, Ryan and Dylan McCahill, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday Aug. 20, 2005 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, John McCahill, Zack Tolson, Josh Tolson, John Tobaben, Johnny Tobaben and Kenny McCahill.  Interment will follow in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice of N.E.GA.  Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

mrs. margaret anne faulk king

 

Mrs. Margaret Anne Faulk King was born in Foley, Alabama on April 21, 1936.  She graduated from Foley High School and received a BA degree in English from Samford University (then Howard College) in 1957.  She married Elton Richard King, Jr. on August 16, 1957.  She taught and was guidance counselor at Murphy High School in Atlanta from 1957-1965.  She received a Masters of Education from Mercer University and taught for many years at Five Forks Middle School in Gwinnett County.

Margaret had three children – Carol King Lewis (husband William Curtis Lewis), Melissa King Rogers (husband Brandon Rogers), Eric Michael King (wife Cheryl Stites King), and four grandchildren – Zachary and Alexander King, Tyler Lewis and Jessica Lewis.  Two brothers, Warren Faulk and wife Barbara, Michael Faulk and wife Sharon.  She enjoyed music and was a member of the Decatur Civic Chorus for many years.  She sang in choirs at Woodlawn Baptist Church, Avondale Estates Baptist Church, Smoke Rise Baptist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Blairsville, Georgia.  She enjoyed attending the Barbershop Harmony Society Convention to hear her son’s quarter perform.  Long after her retirement, Margaret volunteered in the primary school in Blairsville to help children read.  She was blessed with many friends and family members who “have made my life full and meaningful.”

Battling cancer for nearly twenty-five years, Margaret devoted much of her life to encouraging hundreds of others and truly reflected Jesus to all who met her.  She defied the odds with superhuman grace, and reminded us that dignity comes with within.  She remains our hero.

There was a funeral service at the First United Methodist Church of Blairsville, GA at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2005, 859 Highway 515, Blairsville, GA 30512.  Rev. Eddie Herring and Dr. Trutt Gannon officiating. 

A memorial service will be held at Smoke Rise Baptist Church at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2005Hugh Howell Road, Stone Mountain.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to African Children’s Mission, 14460 New Falls of Neuse Road, Suite 149-133, Raleigh, NC 27614.

mr. brian grant boyce

 

Mr. Brian Grant Boyce, age 59, of Wild Ridge Road, Blairsville, GA, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2005 in the Union General Hospital, following a sudden illness.

Mr. Boyce was born on March 1, 1946 in Alburg, Vermont.  He was the son of the late Parnell and Ruth Searles Boyce.

At 17 he married the love of his life Sharon Mumley.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He lived life to its fullest, spending many vacations at his beloved cabin in Georgia, with his family and friends.  Along with a strong work ethic he took great pride in his family, his work, his country and his team, the Florida State Seminoles.  He began his business life as co-owner of the family dairy farm for 17 years in Vermont.  He then moved his family to Florida where he started Corner Produce, a wholesale and retail market.  Currently, he was a builder and developer in Union County Georgia.

Preceded in death by a sister Debbie Dale Boyce and daughter Suzanne Boyce.

Surviving Mr. Boyce are his loving wife of 41 years Sharon Mumley Boyce, five children–Robin Taylor of Grand Isle, Vermont, Randy Boyce of Cape Coral, Florida, Jennifer and Greg DeWitt of Bonita Springs, Florida, Jill and Terry Bonnell of Bonita Springs, Florida, Krista and Mark Viars of San Carlos, Florida.  Brothers and Sisters by marriage, Bob and Bev, Bill and Lois, Jim and Colleen and Dick.  Four Grandchildren Jesse, Taylor, Haley, Camryn and soon to be Delaney.  Many loving nieces and nephews and wonderful friends to numerous to mention.

The Family received friends on Monday, August 8, 2005 from 5 to 7 p.m., with a service following in Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home Chapel at 7 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Joanne’s House Hospice, Bonita Springs, Florida.
