mr. andrew brantford dyer

 

Mr. Andrew Brantford Dyer, age 72, of Hay. 180 Blairsville passed away on Thursday August 12, 2004 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mr. Dyer was born on Dec. 26, 1931 in Chattanooga, TN, the son of the late Oscar Dyer and the late Marion Wilson Dyer.  He had retired from the Kennedy Space Center where he served as the Launch Operations Director for over twenty-two years.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War.  He was a member of the Gideons.  Mr. Dyer was a member and also chairman of the Deacon Board of the House of Prayer.

Surviving Mr. Dyer are his loving wife of fifty-two years, Joan Martin Dyer of Blairsville, six children and five daughter and sons-in-law, Brad and Vonda Dyer of Merritt Island, FL., Linda and Rick Norman of Edgewater, FL., Karen and Greg Ray of Blairsville, Tim and Charlotte Dyer of Edgewater, FL., Susan and Burt Bauer of New Smyrna Beach, FL., Sharon Dyer of Blairsville, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Sunday Aug. 115, 2004 at 2 PM from the House of Prayer Church with the Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Bill Honaker officiating.  Special music was presented by the House of Prayer choir.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Tim Norman, Kyle Squire, Andrew Ray, Adam Dyer, Kevin Kane and Luke Bauer.  Serving as honorary pallbearers were the deacons and deacon helpers of the House of Prayer.  Interment followed in the New Liberty Baptist Church cemetery.

mrs. thelma kay seabolt

 

Mr. Thelma Kay Seabolt, age 75, of Blairsville, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2004 at her home.

Mrs. Seabolt was born in Union County, Tuesday August 14, 1928, a daughter of the late Rev. Carl and Maebelle Brewer.  She was a homemaker, and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband Hayden Seabolt in 2003; a brother Carl Brewer, Jr., and a sister, Lucille Duckworth.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Delphia and Ervin Plott of Blairsville, GA and Delores and Tim Barnes of Hiawassee, GA; son, Dale Seabolt of Blairsville, GA; brothers, Cecil Brewer of Blairsville, GA and Richard Brewer of Smyrna, GA; sisters, Deborah Lashley and Janice Hartness both of Hampton, GA; grandchildren, Vicki and Darrell Bridges, Jason and Crystal Plott, and Jennifer Barnes; great granddaughter, Gracie Bridges.

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 14, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Potts and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating.  Music will be by Rev. Leon Henderson.  Pallbearers will be Ervin Plott, Jason Plott, Stephen Lovell, Chris Lovell, Tom Evans, and Darrell Bridges.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Barnes, Robert Lashley, Jerry Hartness, Johnny Darrell Duckworth and Brian Burrell.  Interment will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.

hansel burnette

 

Mr. Hansel Burnette, age 72, of Chatsworth, and formerly of Blairsville passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004 in the Murray medical Center.  He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Chatsworth, and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Burnette, brothers Odell Burnette and W.F. Burnette, sister, Gennevive Bowers.

He is survived by his wife, Stella Burnette; son, Preston Burnette; daughter, Arlene Scott; grandchildren, Michelle Scott and Brandon Scott, all of Chatsworth; brother, Marvin Burnette of Clayton County; sisters, Zola Rogers of Blairsville and Siva Lee Picklesimer of Fulton County.

Funeral services were Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. William Silvers officiating.  Burial followed in the Pleasant Grove cemetery in Union County. 

The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday after 6 p.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.

ada m. robbins

 

Ada M. Robbins, age 91, formerly a resident of Blairsville, GA, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at University of Cleveland.

Mrs. Robbins was born in Warrenton, OH on May 30, 1913, the daughter of Lebeus and Bertha (Pratt) Hutchison.

Mrs. Robbins was married to her husband, Francis Robbins on September 12, 1930 in Cumberland, MD.  She held the position of YMCA Director in Wheeling, W.V.

Mrs. Robbins was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Joanne Paul; Son, Tom; her parents; sister, Ruth Fithen; and brothers, Wayne and Roger.

Survivors include daughter, Ada L. Helmbright of Geneva, OH; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 8 great, great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 19th at Holly memorial Gardens, Cemetery Mausoleum, US Rt. 250 on Colerain, OH.  The Rev. Bonnie Bell will be officiating.  Visitors may call between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the Mausoleum on August 19th.
