Daria
Lorraine Kapp-Stevens, age 64 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday,
August
21, 2010 at Union General Hospital. Mrs.
Kapp-Stevens was born September 12, 1945 in Homestead, PA to Joe and
Anna
Kapp. She had been a resident of the
Blairsville area for the past 19 years, moving here from Miami, FL. Mrs. Kapp-Stevens was of the Russian Orthodox
Faith.
Survivors include: husband, Thomas
John Stevens, step-son, Michael P. Stevens of Pensacola, FL, step-son
and his
wife, Damon T. and Suzanne Stevens of Valle Crucis, NC, step-daughter,
Jennifer
L. Stevens of Los Angeles, CA, sisters, Judy Di Marco of Miami and
Claudia
Quinn of Pleasantville, FL and grandson, Dylan Thomas Stevens.

Mrs.
Vivian C. Lance, age 77, of Shoe
Factory Rd., Blairsville, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2010 in the
Union
County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Lance was born on August 4, 1933 in
Marietta, GA, the daughter of the late Joseph Porter Nichols and the
late
Hettie Thomas Nichols. Vivian was a
lifelong resident of Union County and was a 1951 graduate of Union
County High
School. She had worked at Georgia Boot
for over twenty years and at Owenby Manufacturing and the Union County
Nursing
Home for several years. She loved
gardening and working with her flowers.
Vivian loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents and
four sisters, Vennie Stroup, Willie Manning, Belle Brown and Florence
Rowe and
by three brothers, Bud, Lee and R.V. Nichols.
Mrs. lance was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Lance are three
daughters and two sons-in-law, Gail and Woody Woodall of jasper, GA,
Vickie
Lynne Lance of Blairsville, Peggy and Tommy Greene of Blairsville, one
brother
and sister-in-law, Frank Quince and Jean Nichols of Roswell, GA, three
grandchildren, Natasha and James Templeton, Brooke and Bryan Sosensky,
Brittany
and Joe Jordan, three great grandchildren, Easton, Eily and Emry
Sosensky, many
other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on
Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 3 p.m. from the Harmony Grove Baptist
Church with
the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. Special music was presented by the Harmony
Grove Baptist Church. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers, ray, Tim, Keith and Larry Nichols,
Bill Brown,
Mike Rowe and Edward Stroup. Interment
followed in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family met with friends at the funeral home on Friday
evening after
6 p.m.

Donald M.
Magee, age 80 of Blairsville, GA,
passed away Friday, August 20, 2010 at North East Georgia Medical
Center in
Gainesville, GA.
Donald
was born in
Kansas City, MO on April 5, 1930 to the late Roy and Linnie Landers
Magee. He had lived in this area since
1981 coming
from Council Bluffs, IA, Donald was
retired from the U.S. Air Force and was of the Lutheran Faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Trilby
Iverson Magee, and sons, Larry and Michael Piercy.
Survivors include: son &
daughter-in-law, Kelly and Linda Piercy of Assaria KS, daughter-in-law,
Mavis
Piercy of Hiawassee, GA, grandchildren, Craig Piercy, Dee Piercy, Jamie
Kinderknecht, Debbie Shepard, Monica Plymale, Sherry Hinsley, Pam
Baskin, Becky
Bracken and Robin Williams, and many great-grandchildren.

Randel
“Randy” Eugene Ringelspaugh, age 54
of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, August 20, 2010 at Northeast
Georgia
Medical Center in Gainesville. Randy was
born November 2, 1955 in St. Petersburg, FL.
He moved to this area 8 years ago from Elsinore, CA. Randy was employed by AAA Lawn and Garden
Service. He was a member of Providence
United Methodist Church. Randy was
preceded in death by his natural father, Eugene Ringelspaugh, paternal
grandparents, Howard and Evelyn Ringelspaugh, maternal grandparents,
Jake and
Grace Moesker.
Survivors include: parents, Mary
Jane “Mickey” and Bryan Mascoe of Blairsville, children, Brandi
Ringelspaugh,
Bryan Ringelspaugh and Sandi Atkins, all of Blairsville, sister,
Christy Mascoe

Mr.
Harold Grady Ash, age 81 of Murrayville,
GA formerly of Blairsville, passed away Friday, August 13, 2010 in
Dahlonega.
Harold was born March 7, 1929 in
Union County, GA, to the late Joseph Marion Ash and Ila Mae Young Ash,
and was
preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene Wimpey Ash, brother, R.M.
Ash,
sisters, Marie Ash Townsend, Lorene Ash Kirby, Inez Ash Adams and
Mildred Sue
Ash. He was a member of Choestoe Baptist
Church. Harold lived most of his life in
Union and Lumpkin Counties. Harold owned
Purina Chows Store in Blairsville and farmed for many years. He later retired from Ralston Purina Company
after working for 32 years in Blairsville and Gainesville.
Survivors include daughter &
son-in-law, Linda & Gary Dye of Rock Hill, SC, son &
daughter-in-law,
Joe & Donna Ash of Cleveland, GA, daughter, Selena Ash Daniel of
Dahlonega,
GA, sister, Ruby Nix of Cleveland, GA, brother, Raymond Ash of
Yatesville, GA,
sister, Genelle Gordon of Stone Mountain, GA, 9 grandchildren, 3 great
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
August 17, 2010 at 2 PM at Choestoe Baptist Church with Rev. David
Hoard and
Rev. John Bryant officiating, Eulogy was by Ranny Ash.
Music was provided by Meredith Dye and Rev.
John and Jancie (sic) Bryant.

in the Blairsville City Cemetery.

Mrs.
Juanita Hutchins Kirkland, age 78, of Blue Ridge Hwy, Blairsville,
passed away
on Sunday Aug.15, 2010 in the Union General Hospital following an
extended
illness. Mrs. Kirkland was born on
Jan.12, 1932 in Rainbow Springs, NC, the daughter of the late John P.
Hutchins
and the late Eva Graham Hutchins. Juanita
was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 121. While
attending the
House of Prayer Church, she taught Sunday School for over twenty years.
Juanita loved children and loved
babysitting
them. She was a loving mother, sister,
grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her
husband,
Marshall Kirkland, two sons, Keith and John Kirkland, one brother,
Alvin
Hutchins and a sister, Nettie Ledford. Mrs.
Kirkland was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Kirkland are three daughters
and two son-in-laws, Gina and Franky Davidson, Sharon and Charlie Kidd
and Missie
Kirkland, all of Blairsville, two daughter-in-laws, Lora Kirkland and
Fran
Kirkland both of Blairsville, three sisters, Ginny Millsap of Smyrna,

Morgan of Hayesville, Frankie Mae Martin of Andrews, one brother and
sister-in-law,
Bud and Judy Hutchins of Chatsworth, five grandchildren, Kandi Collins,

Stuart, Kayla Plott, Drake Kirkland and Carli Kidd, five great
grandchildren,
Amber, Ashley and Dylan Collins, S even (sic) and Viva Stuart, many

relatives and friends also survive.

August 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev.

Mrs. Lattie Leuna Legg, age 86, of Fairview Church Rd., Blairsville
passed away
on Saturday August 21, 2010 in the Union County Nursing Home following
an
extended illness. Mrs. Legg was born on
March 28, 1924 in Union County, the daughter of the late Hillard Barnes
and the
late Ardella Rogers Barnes. She was a
native and lifelong resident of Union County. Lattie
enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, cooking,
quilting and sewing, but most of all she loved spending time with her
children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Legg in 1979, three
sisters, Ada
Lou Tabor, Mae Green and Vandora Ross, four brothers, Loman, Ralph,
Marvin and
Horace Barnes. Mrs. Legg was a member of
Philadelphia Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Legg are two daughters and
one son-in-law, Evon Mason of Blairsville, Patsy and Bradley Langford
of
Watkinsville, GA, two sons and daughters-in-laws, Evan E. and Peggy
Legg of
Blairsville, Emmanuel and Lisa Legg of Blairsville, two brothers, Doris
Barnes
of Powder Springs and Oris Barnes of Blairsville, one sister, Margaret
Payne of
Blairsville, six grandchildren, Dana Carver, Evan Travis Legg, Chad W.
Mason,
Blair Cook, Marie Legg, Keisha Roberson, three step grandchildren,

Rabekah and Rachel Lilly, six great-grandchildren, Kalen Cook, Brendan
Mason,
Liam Legg, Micana Wooten, Ellie Cook and Kennedy Mason, special
