Mr.
Roy A. Dyer, age 86, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday,
August 18,
1999 in Blue Ridge Health Care, in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Mr.
Dyer was born in Union County, Georgia, on Wednesday, may
28, 1913, son of the late Thomas M. Dyer and Mary McGlamery Dyer. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of this area.
Mr. Dyer was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He had been preceded in death by his wife,
Stella Payne Dyer, in 1998.
Surviving
are his son and daughter in law, Jewell and Rochelle Dyer, of Franklin,
GA; son
and daughter in law, Charles and Bonnie Dyer, of Cleveland, GA; son,
bobby Ray
Dyer, of Blairsville, GA; son and daughter in law, Ronnie and Janie
Dyer, of
Blairsville; a daughter and son in law, Diane and Danny Denson, of
Douglasville, GA; sister, Bell Jones, of Cartersville, GA; 15
grandchildren 20
great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren also survive along
with
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held Friday, August 20, 1999 at 11 a.m. from Pleasant
Hill
Baptist Church, with Rev. Max Lockaby and Rev. Earl Pickelsimer
officiating. Special music was presented
by the Kelley
Trio. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Ray Dyer, Larry, Steve, and David Dyer, Alex Dyer, Allen
Beyer,
Roger Shubert, and Joe Colwell. Interment
was in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Gordon Sumner Proulx, age 88, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday,
August
20, 1999 in Union County, Georgia.
Mr.
Poulx was born in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, on Monday, July 31,
1911, son
of the late Merritt Emile Proulx and Florence Viola Goddard Proulx. He was a builder and worked in housing
construction. Mr. Proulx was a veteran
of WW II, and served in the U.S. navy.
He had been living in Blairsville since 1995, coming here from
Ruskin,
Florida. Mr. Proulx was a member of
United Church of Christ, of Keene, NH; the Masonic Lodge of Keene, NH;
Temple
#88; Charter member of Demoleys, of Keene, MH; and had served as a city
councilman
in Keene, NH.
Surviving
are his daughter, Jacqueline Hazen, of Blairsville; brother, Earl W.
Proulx, of
Surry, NH; and sister, Bernice Starkey, of Keene, NH; grandchildren,
Sherry
Clements, of Riverview, FL; Joellen Fisher, of Douglasville, GA and
Shawn Hazen
of Ruskin, FL; 7 great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs.
Nettie Mae Spivey Dunn, age 83, went to be with her Lord on August 23,
1999.
She
was a resident of Branan Lodge, Blairsville, Georgia.
She was formerly of Raleigh, NC and was born
in Whiteville, NC on June 30, 1916.
She
was preceded in death by her mother Jullie Anette Spivey and her mother
Jullie
Anette Spivey, five brothers, three sisters, of Columbus County, NC. She was a dedicated and caring wife, loving
mother and grandmother and a dedicated homemaker.
She
is survived by her husband, Clem Edward Dunn; daughter, Judy Dunn Loper
and son
in law, Carroll B. Loper, of Blairsville, GA; granddaughter, June
Christy Loper
of Brunswick, GA; grandsons, Christopher Wade Loper, of Dover,
Arkansas;
Gregory M. Loper, of Ellijay, GA; and many great grandchildren. Her extended family includes Lloyd D. Dunn;
brother in law, of Wilmington, NC: W.C. Seals, of South Carolina, and
many
suppurative and loving nieces and nephews.
She was a lifelong resident of Raleigh, NC until she moved to
Blairsville, GA. She is a member of
First Baptist Church of Blairsville.
Funeral
services were scheduled for Wednesday, August 25, 1999 at 2 p.m. from
the
chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Danny Parris,
and
Rev. James Geer
officiating. Interment will be in
Choestoe Cemetery. Visitation at the
funeral home will begin on Tuesday, August 24, 1999 after 7 p.m.

Ms.
Paralee Ellis, age 90, of Morganton, GA, passed away Monday, August 16,
1999 at
Union County Nursing Home. Ms. Ellis was
born May 14, 1909, in Union County, GA, the daughter of the late James
Larkin
and Maudie Voyles Ellis. She was a
homemaker, and a member of oak Grove Baptist Church.
Ms.
Ellis is survived by nieces and nephews, Mary Joyce Shelton, Audrey
Moss, Roger
Ellis, Randy Ellis, Billy Ellis, Brenda Weems, Imogene Rogers, Jerry
Goggins,
Bobby Ellis, Shirley Stiles and Glenda Ellis; two sister in laws, Elmer
Ellis
and Lillian Ellis and great and great great nieces and nephews also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, August 19, 1999 at 2 p.m. from Oak Grove
Baptist
Church with Rev. Ray Harper officiating.
Interment followed in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Irene Vaness, age 94, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, August
20, 1999
in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Ms.
Vaness was born in Marinette County, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, April 25,
1905, a
daughter of the late Mose Vaness and Lidia TaBorden Vaness. Ms. Vaness had lived in Blairsville since
1991, moving here from Florida. She was
a homemaker.
Surviving
are her daughters: LaVerne Hutchinson, of Blairsville, and Beatrice
Boucher, of
Boise, Idaho; sister, Doris Lehman, of Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin; 11
grandchildren
and 14 great grandchildren also survive.
