Mr.
Donald
James Britton, age 64, of Blairsville passed away at home on Saturday,
August 8
following a short illness. Mr. Britton
was born on March 8, 1945 in Toronto, Canada.
Don and his wife Ann have worked together in Blairsville as
Britton
Realty for more than a decade. He was well
known among family, friends and clients not only his wisdom and
expertise, but
also for a wonderful sense of humor. Don
wrote a real estate column in the North Georgia News the past several
years. Mr. Britton was preceded in death
by his
parents Norm and Rita, and brother Bob.
Surviving Don
is his loving wife Ann, two sons and two grandchildren, Vincent
(Nicole), Jack
and Chris Britton of lake Worth, FL, and Jeffrey Britton of Tampa, FL;
three
brothers and two sisters-in-law, Mary Britton of Portage, Canada, Doug
and Judy
Britton of Blairsville, Ted Britton and Bill Hilsinger of Pacifica, CA;
and
many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews in Canada.
A
celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 7 p.m.
at
Mountain View Funeral Home with Phillip Meeks officiating and
visitation

Mr. Harry
Victor Howard age 79 of Pine Acres Rd., Blairsville passed away on
Friday, Aug.
21, 2009 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended
illness. Mr. Howard was born on Jan. 13,
1930 in Cobb
County, GA, the son of the late Paul Howard and the late Verna Hammond
Howard. Harry was a member of the IBEW
Atlanta Local 613, the Jaycee’s, Marietta Lodge F&AM and the Yarrab
Temple. Mr. Howard was a Deacon of the
Hurt Road Baptist church.
Surviving Mr.
Howard are his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Susan Bradley Howard,
one son,
rick Howard of Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Terry Hagen
and
Douglas Rhodes of Taylor, SC, two sisters and brother-in-law, Janice
and Jerry
Graham, Peggy and Richard Oberkofler, one brother, Paul Howard, one
grandson,
Bradley Hagen, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and
friends also
survive.
A private
memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that
memorials may
be made to the Burn Unit c/o of the Shriners Hospital in memory of Mr.
Howard.

Mrs.
Grace
Bridges Garland Elmore, age 88, of Ashland Farm Rd., Oxford, GA, passed
away on
Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009 in the Union General Hospital following an
extended. Mrs. Elmore was born on Jan. 31,
1921 in
Union County, the daughter of the late James Andy Bridges and the late
Mary
Estie Souther Bridges. Before retiring
she was a nurse at the Young Harris Clinic for over twenty years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and was
a care giver for many. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Otis Garland in 1954, five sons, Gene, James,
John,
Jack and Otis Jr., three daughters, Shirley Ann, Patricia and Beatrice,
one
grandson, James Oscar, Jr. Mrs. Elmore
was a member of Bethel Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Elmore are one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Bryant Smith of
Oxford, GA,
eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, many other relatives
and
friends also survive.
Funeral
services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. from the
Shining
Light Baptist Church with the Rev. John King and Rev. Timothy Mason officiating. Special music will be presented by the Alcovy
Mountain Baptist Church Choir and Mark Jones.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Bryant Smith,
Gene
Smith, Chris Puckett, Walter McGuffey, Chris Garland and Danny Garland. Interment will follow in the Old Union Baptist Church
Cemetery. The family will meet with
friends
at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10-12PM.

Mr. Roger
William Henry, age 91, of Blairsville, Georgia,
passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009 in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home
in
Hiawassee. Mr. Henry was born July 6,
1918, in South Norwalk, CT, a son of the late William James Henry and
Bessie
Stowe Henry. He graduated from Roosevelt
Aviation School in Mineola, NY, on December 20, 1940.
Roger received his FAA Airframes and
Powerplant and Ground Instruction Certificates.
He performed aircraft maintenance on several non-scheduled
airlines
under contract with the U.S. government.
He retired from Airlift International.
Mr. Henry had been preceded in death
by his wife, Doris Parrish Henry; a brother, Gordon Stowe Henry, and a
sister,
Gertrude Elizabeth Henry Bouton.
Surviving family members include a
son, Paul Henry, of Carrizozo, NM; and a daughter, Ruth Ann Henry, of
Australia.

time.
