Ms. Ashlyn Blaire Oakley, infant daughter of Jennifer Oakley, passed
away
Wednesday, August 19, 1998 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville,
Georgia.
Survivors
include mother, Jennifer Oakley of Murphy, NC; sister, Kiersten
Oakley-Cox of
Murphy, NC; grandparents, Tom and Cathy Oakley of Hiawassee, GA; great
grandmother, Delia Taylor of Hiawassee, GA; great grandfather, Thomas
R. Oakley
Sr. of Durham, NC; aunts, Laura Oakley of Hiawassee, GA; cousin, Bailey
Oakley-Chastain of Hiawassee, GA; many
other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by great grandfather Miles Taylor and
great
grandmother Susie B. Oakley.
Graveside
services were held Saturday, August 22, 1998 at 1
p.m. at Osborn Cemetery with Rev. Clay Hardin and Rev. Johnny Foster
officiating.

Ms.
Callie Payne, age 82, of Chatsworth, Georgia, formerly of Union County,
Georgia, passed away FRIDAY, August 21, 1998, in Murray Medical Center
in
Chatsworth.
Surviving
are son, Fairdie Payne, of Jackson, GA; a sister, Bertha Townsend, of
Chatsworth; a brother, Zack Bingham, of Forsyth, GA; nieces and nephews
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, August 23, 1998 at 1 p.m.
in the Chapel of Peeples Funeral Home of Chatsworth, with Rev. Vince
Goble officiating. Interment was in the
Liberty Cemetery in
Union County. Peeples Funeral Home of
Chatsworth in charge of arrangements, and

Mrs.
Louise Glaze Merritt, age 82, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Monday,
August 17, 1998 in Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Merritt was born in White County,
Georgia, on Sunday, December19, 1915, a daughter of the late Gordon
Glaze and
Pauline Reed Glaze. She was a homemaker
and a member of First Baptist church of Blairsville, and was also a
member of
the Blairsville Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Merritt moved to Blairsville in 1952 from Gainesville,
Georgia.
Mrs.
Merritt is survived by her husband, Frank, of Blairsville and daughter,
Lynda
Logan, of Wilmington, NC; brothers: John Glaze, of Decatur, GA, and
Gordon
Glaze, of Marion, SC; sisters: Madge DeLoach, of Decatur, GA, Mae
Anderson, of
SC, and Montine White, of Florida; grandchildren: Rhonda Lampkin, of
Dahlonega,
and William Logan, III, and Brannon E. Logan, both of Raleigh, NC;
great-granddaughter,
Stephanie Lampkin, of Dahlonega also survives, along with many friends
and other
relatives.
Funeral
services were held Thursday, August 20, 1998, 1998, at 11 a.m. from the
chapel
of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Parris and Rev. B.A. Buchanan
officiating. Special music was presented
by the Kelley
Trio. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Pat Phillips, Eric England, D.L. martin, Neal Collins,
Leon
Davenport, Esco Wimpey, Harold Dyer, Charles Barrett, and Harold Cook. Interment was in Union Memory Gardens
Cemetery. Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of arrangements.
