darryl colditz

 

            Mr. Darryl Colditz, age 55, of Blairsville, GA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, August 21, 2013.

            Darryl was born in Knoxville, TN on Saturday, August 9, 1958, and had lived in Blairsville since 1970. He was an avid racing fan, and loved animals. Darryl's favorite pastime was simply spending time with his family. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County. Darryl's grandparents, Otto and Olga Baese and Bernard and Mamie Colditz preceded him in death.

            Darryl will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: loving wife, Teresa Colditz, of Blairsville; his parents, Paul and June Colditz, of Blairsville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Tutie Donaldson, of Blairsville; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Sheila Colditz, of Danielsville, GA; brother-in-law and his wife, Keith and Pat Donaldson, of Blairsville; nephew and his wife, Aaron and Eliza Colditz, of Athens, GA; nephew, Will Donaldson, of Blairsville; niece and her husband, Caroline and Zach Dillard of Augusta, GA; niece, Edie Donaldson, of Blairsville; and niece, Lillie Donaldson, of Blairsville; great nephew, Crosby Colditz, of Athens, GA; many other relatives and friends also share in his legacy.

            Funeral services for Darryl were held on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 3 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Mark Burgess officiating. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Aaron Colditz, Richard Waterhouse, George Beck, Glen Tanner, Michael Tate and David Cassell.  Serving as honorary escort to the family were:  Will Donaldson, Keith Donaldson, and J.L. Tanner.  Burial was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, August 23, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 1 p.m. until the service hour..

            Mrs. Gerry Kamber, age 80, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013, at her home.

            Gerry was born on April 13, 1933, in Evanston, IL, a daughter of the late Nicholas Baumhart and the late Edna Sangbush Baumhart. She moved to Blairsville in 2004 from West Palm Beach, FL, and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville.

            Gerry leaves behind her family members who dearly loved her: her husband, Ernie, of Blairsville; daughter, Cynthia Ann Mangan, of Pembroke Pines, FL; sons, Ernest William Kamber, Jr., and Erik Samuel Kamber, both of Blairsville; and daughter, Claudia Deitz, of Blairsville; a sister: Dolores Spetyla, of Chicago, IL; her beloved grandchildren: Patrick Ernest Mangan, Philip Anthony Mangan, Matthew Mangan, Breana Kamber, Joshua Kamber, Caleb Kamber, Jessica Deitz, Johannah Deitz, Hayleigh Deitz, and Samantha Kamber; and beloved great grandchildren: Paige Mangan and Ellie Margaret Mangan and new granddaughter, Allison Kamber.

            Memorial services were held at 12 noon on Friday, August 30, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Blairsville.  Special music for the service was presented by Dr. Michelle Thompson and Steven Thompson.

gloria "sue" latoza

 

            Mrs. Gloria “Sue” Latoza, age 71, of Whispering Pines Road, Blairsville, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 18, 2013 following an extended illness. She was born February 15, 1942 in Murphy, NC to the late Garland and Lula Belle (Mills) Ramsey. Mrs. Latoza had lived here for the past 12 years coming here from Caltalis, GA. She was of the Catholic Faith.

            Survivors include her husband, Robert Latoza of Blairsville, GA, children, Dixie Henebree and Karen Erving both of Lamont, IL, brothers, Ralph and Ruth Ramsey of Cypress, TX and Robert and Barbara Ramsey of El Paso, IL, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

            A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers make memorial donations to the Humane Society.

blanche yvonne skwira

 

          Blanche Yvonne Skwira, age 64, of John Smith Rd. East, Blairsville, GA, formerly of Hamilton, NJ, passed away on, Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her home following an extended illness. Blanche was born on October Oct. 4, 1948 in South Amboy, NJ, the daughter of the late John Walter Skwira and the late Blanche Dodge Skwira. Blanche was a loving, caring dedicated teacher to all her elementary school age students. Her most treasured life memories were from volunteer teaching at the Red Cloud Indian School in South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Walter Skwira, Jr. Blanche was of the Catholic Faith.

            Surviving Blanche are her sister, Jo Ann Skwira, sister-in-law, Lynn Hawthorne Skwira both of Blairsville, niece, Christine Boston and great nephews, Joshua and Dakota Ditski all of Mt. Laurel, NJ, great niece, Caitlin Ditski of Fort Smith, AR, other relatives also survive.

            No services are planned. In lieu of flowers make memorial donations to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in her memory.
