Mrs.
Edith Ozelle Franklin, 65, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday,
August
24, 1997 at her home.
Mrs.
Franklin was born June 22, 1932, in Walker County, Georgia,
a daughter of the late Charlie A. Autry and Carrier Durham Autry. She was a homemaker and had lived in this
area fort the past 38 years, coming here from Chickamauga, Georgia. Mrs. Franklin was a member of Pleasant Hill
Baptist Church.
Surviving
are her husband, G.L. Franklin, of the home; son, Gerald E. Webb, of
McCaysville, GA; son, Ronald M. Webb, of Blairsville; son Douglas W.
Webb, also
of Blairsville; son, Gordon Larry Franklin, of Blairsville; son, Grant
L.
Franklin, of Suches, GA; son, Chuck L. Franklin, of Duluth, GA; and
son, Greg
L. Franklin, of Blairsville; sisters: Ella Mae Autry and Myrtice Autry,
both of
Chickamauga, GA; 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, August 26, 1997 at 3 p.m. from Pleasant
Hill
Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Youngblood, Reverend Hubert Legg,
and
Reverend William Sisum officiating.
Special music was presented by Jerry Butram.
Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of arrangements.

Mr.
Joseph
Wyly Penland, 97, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday,
August 13,
1997.
Mr.
Penland was born in Union County, Georgia, on December
18, 1899, a son of the late Joseph Penland and Margaret Crawford
Penland. He was a lifelong resident of
this area and
was a retired carpenter. Mr. Penland was
a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church for over 80 years. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and
teacher for many years. His wife, Annie
Belle Hamby Penland, passed away in 1994.
Surviving
are son and daughter-in-law, Ferrell and Grapelle Penland, and
daughter,
Josephine Akins, all of Blairsville; two grandsons: Ronny Penland of
Mableton,
GA, and Karl “Buddy” Rowan of Blairsville; four great grandchildren:
Darren
Rowan and Karla Colwell, both of Blairsville, and Julie Penland and
Elizabeth
Penland, both of Mableton; great-great granddaughters: Sidney Rowan and
Layne
Colwell also survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, August 15, 1997 at 3 p.m. from Cochran
Funeral Home of
Blairsville Chapel with Reverend Harley Hunter and Reverend Stacy Dyer
officiating. Special music was presented
by Ken and Elaine Young. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Junior Duckworth, Harold Crump, Danny
Stephens, Johnny Hamby, Bill Hamby, and Fred Penland.
Interment was in Harmony Grove Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mr.
Charles
Donald Prikryl, age 73, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday,
August 30,
1997 following a period of declining health.
Mr. Prikryl was born in Mt. Pleasant, PA but had lived in Union County for the past
three years ad was a Landscape (sic) designer.
Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Prikryl of the home; sons, Douglas Prikryl
of
Largo, FL, Thomas Prikryl of Blairsville; daughter, Judy Judd of
Huntsburg, OH;
brothers, Chester Prikryl of Fargo (sic), FL., Edward Prikryl of
Jamestown, NY;
grandchildren: Tracy, Jeff and Molly Williams and Dristina Prikryl and
a number
of nieces and nephews.
Memorial
services were held Monday, September 1, 1997 at 2 p.m. from the chapel
of the
Banister Funeral Home in Young Harris.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may
be made
to the National Arthritis Foundation or a charity of your choice. Banister Funeral Home of Young Harris in
charge of arrangements.
