mr. tom gooch
Mr.
Tom Gooch, age 66 of Suches, GA died Tuesday, August 27, 1996 at the North
Fulton Regional Medical Center in Roswell, GA following an extended illness. Mr. Gooch was a lifelong resident of Union
County, a retired Farmer and member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Suches.
He is
survived by his wife, Mrs. Iva Gooch of Suches, GA; son, Mr. Hoyt Gooch of
Dahlonega, GA; daughters and son in laws, Brenda and Linny Gilreath and Cindy
and Mickel Jarrard of Dahlonega, GA; brothers: Glenn Cooch, Blairsville, GA,
Bill Gooch, Smyrna, GA, Ervin Gooch, Suches, GA and Ned Gooch, Morrow, GA;
sisters: Kathleen Fitts and Blondine Bryan of Dahlonega, GA, Clara Kidd,
Gainesville, GA, Inez Crook, Forest Park, GA, Mary Ann Mayfield of Covington,
GA and Sandra Bailey of Forest Park, GA; grandchildren: Joey Gooch, Kelly &
Kevin Tritt, Bobby Gooch, Krista Gilreath and Kim Gooch. Great grandchildren: Morgan Tritt. A large number of other relatives also
survive.
Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 1996 at the Mt. Airy Baptist
Church in Suches. Rev. Lyman Caldwell
and Rev. Buford Duckworth officiated.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega was in charge of the
arrangements.

mrs. willie nichols manning
Mrs. Willie
Nichols Manning, 82, of Blairsville, Georgia passed Friday, August 30, 1996 in Union
General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs. Manning was born in Union County, Georgia, on November
16, 1913, a daughter of the late Joseph Porter Nichols and Hettie Emma Thomas
Nichols. She had lived in this area for
most of her life, and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Mrs. Manning was the widow of the late Less
Manning, who passed away in 1973.
Surviving are sisters, Belle Brown, of Young Harris, GA and
Vivian Lance, of Blairsville; brothers, James Howard Nichols, and Lee Nichols,
both of Blairsville, and brother Quince Nichols, of Roswell, GA; numerous
nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, September 1, 1996 at 2 p.m. from Ebenezer Baptist
Church with Rev. Horace Potts officiating.
Special music was presented by the Troy Phillips family. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Bill Brown, Ray Nichols, Tim Nichols, Mike Rowe, Edward Stroup,
and Joel Gooch, with interment in the church cemetery.

mr. leroy cunningham
Mr.
Leroy Cunningham, 67, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, August 30, 1996
in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Cunningham was born in Union County, Georgia, on July 28, 1929, a
son of the late Bluford Cunningham and Bessie Chambers Cunningham. He worked for the Tennessee Copper Company
for many years. Mr. Cunningham was a
lifelong resident of this area and was a member and Deacon of Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church. He was also a member of
Young Cane Masonic Lodge #597, F & AM; The Butternut Creek Golf Association;
past director of Coosa Water Authority; past board member of Union County
Recreation Dept.; past Volunteer Fireman for Station #2; and was an active
member of Union County Democratic Executive Committee.
He is
survived by his wife, Ozeline Deyton Cunningham, of the Home (sic); daughters
and sons in law: Brenda and Allen Conley, Jean and Bill Jones, and Sherry and
Randy White, all of Blairsville; sister, Betty Cunningham, and sister and
brother in law, Evelyn and Brooks Butterworth, all of Marietta; brother and
sister in law, Hoyt and Stella Cunningham, of Blairsville; five grandchildren,
Karen and Jeff Odom, Laura Conley, Jonathan Jones, Brandy White, and Cody
White, all of Blairsville; two great grandchildren, Brittany and Zachary Odom,
both of Blairsville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, August 31, 1996 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Abernathy and Rev. Guy Wayne Shook
officiating. Special music was presented
by Louise Delong, Susie Phillips, and Sarah Kelley; and Pleasant Grove Church
Choir. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Steve Carver, Dan Truelove, Charles Brackett, Royce Brown, J.B.
King, and Homer Powell.
The
following gentlemen served as honorary escort to the family: Troy King, Michael
Plott, Claude White, Truett Brackett, Guy Turner, Morris Mashburn, Bill Dyer,
Clarence Helton, Ervin Wells, Harold Plott, Nulton Towe, Johnny Brown, Randy
Brown, Bill bracken, Bud Smith, Tommy Dolar, Jim Poe, John Ledford, Ray Rhoten,
Leon McDonald, John Franklin Brown, Earl Odom, Vernon Davenport, Clinton
Patterson, and Larry Patterson.
Interment was in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

mr. ernest hoke harbin
Mr.
Ernest Hoke Harbin, 82, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, August
29, 1996.
Surviving
are his wife, Inez r. Harbin, of Blairsville; children: John R. Harbin of
Macon, Larry W. Harbin of Dahlonega; and Meredith H. Smith of Blairsville;
sister, Ruth Jenkins of Thomaston, GA; ten grandchildren, seventeen great
grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, September 1, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Crest
Lawn Funeral Home of Macon with Rev. William J. Tyre officiating, with
interment in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
