ola kay helton

 

            Mrs. Ola Kay Helton, age 83 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 at Union County Nursing Home.

            Ola Kay was born Thursday, January 15, 1925 in Union County, GA, to the late Guy Plott and the late Viola Justice Plott.  She was preceded in death by husband, Frank Helton, first husband, Coy Lance, second husband, Carl Rich and brother, Max Plott.  She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  She was a retired first grade school teacher from the Union County School System and was very proud to have never had to paddle a child.  She was a very kind, caring and loving person to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

            Survivors include: nephew and wife, mike and Elizabeth Plott of Blairsville, GA, nephew, Terry Plott of Young Harris, GA, great nephew, Judd Plott, great niece, Maggie Plott, step-son and wife, Randy and Lydia Helton and their children of Blue Ridge, GA, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Barbara Helton of Cherry Log, GA, sister-in-law, Agnes Garland of Ellijay, GA, sister-in-law, Christine Helton of Cherry Log, GA, special friends, Helen Hanson and Liz Poole, room mate at Union County Nursing Home, Virgie Swain and several cousins.

            Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11 AM, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.  Music was provided by  Elizabeth and Maggie Plott.  Interment followed in Old Union Baptist  Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Clarence Collins, Tamar Thompson, Wayne Collins, Randy Helton, Presley Rich and John Gurley.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Tuesday, September 2.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Old Union Baptist Church Old Cemetery Fund.

natha herman israel

 

            Mr. Nathan Herman Israel, age 76, of Smyrna Rd. Young Harris (Union County) passed away on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 at lazy R Personal Care Home following an extended illness.  Mr. Israel was born on Feb. 17, 1932 in New York, NY, the son of the late Henry F. Israel and the late Katherine Gries Israel.  He was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean War.  Mr. Israel moved to Blairsville with his wife, Marylin, form Tampa, FL, in 1969.

            Surviving family members include Mr. Israelís wife of twenty seven years, Marylin Windish Israel of Young Harris, son and daughter-in-law, David and Gretchen Israel of PA, daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Will Palmer of CO, stepdaughter and son-in-law, Marcy and Richard Madison of Waco, TX, stepson and daughter-in-law, Dr. Lonnie and Leta Harris of Richmond, KY, seven grandchildren, Allison and Evan Harris, Dane Madison, Gregory Palmer, Shasta Ray, Margaret and Emma Israel.  Mr. Israel was blessed with three great grandchildren, Peyton Madison, C.J. and Landon Ray, many other relatives and friends also survive.

            Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain View funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Crews officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Dwayne Patterson, Jimmy Lynch, Jacon Lynch, Albert Garrett, Timmy Wheeler, Hot Patterson and Adam Patterson.  Interment  followed in the Holly Hill Cemetery with the North GA Honor Guard conducting military honors.  The family met with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
