mr. garnett neil anderson

 

Mr. Garnett Neil Anderson, age 82, of Viva Drive, Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Anderson was born on July 12, 1922 in Union County, the son of the late Abraham Anderson and the late Mae Ledford Anderson.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County and was a veteran of the U.S. Army of WWII.  He was preceded in death by four brothers: Lawrence, Carl, Gene and Hobert Anderson; three sisters: Vina King, Cleo Dockery and Gracie Anderson.  Mr. Anderson was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Anderson are a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced later.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in Mr. Andersonís memory.

nola sara plott

 

Nola Sara Plott, age 84, of Young Harris, GA passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2004 following an extended illness.  She was born to the late Carter and Emma (Duckworth) Wimpy on April 29, 1920 in Union county, GA.  She was preceded in death by her husband Ulan Plott in 1993.  She is survived by daughter, Rosie Thompson, of Young Harris, GA; daughter, Annie Lovell, of Blairsville, GA; son, Odell Plott, of Young Harris, GA; one brother, Esco Wimpy, of Young Harris, GA; grandson, Emory Plott, of Young Harris, GA; granddaughter, Dana Humphreys, of Young Harris, GA; and granddaughter, Rena Brown, of Blairsville, GA; one great grandchild, Chandra Plott, of Young Harris, GA.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral services were held on September 11, 2004 at 2 PM from the chapel of Banister funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Sutton, and the Rev. Rayburn Wilson officiating.  Music was provided by Rev. Rayburn Wilson.  Pallbearers were Charles Barrett, Roger Plott, Harold Copeland, Paul Shook, Lynn Gooch, and John Ash.  Interment was in Old Union Cemetery.  Banister Funeral home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.

james edgar lord, sr.

 

Mr. James Edgar Lord, Sr., 71, of Blairsville, formerly of Marietta, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 20-04.  Born Febraury 10, 1933 at home in West End Atlanta to John Thomas, Jr. and Elizabeth Donehoo Lord.  He graduated from Marietta High School in the class of 1951 and received a law degree from Woodrow Wilson School of Law in 1957.  Mr. Lord worked for Lockheed for thirty-nine years in Marietta, Shelbyville, TN and Logan, OH. He was formerly married 51 years to Donna Chapman Mobley Lord of Marietta.  He has three children, Laurie Lord Fahey of Savannah, Army Lord Savage of Marietta and James E. Lord Jr. of Marietta.  He is survived by three sisters, Juanita Lord Cheek of Hiram, Sara Lord Malman of Santa Maria, CA, and Linda Lord Miller of Marietta, one brother, Leonard Irvin Lord of Marietta; granddaughters, Jane Elizabeth Savage and Olivia Quinn Lord.  Mr. Lord has been a resident of Cobb County for 57 years.  At Lockheed, Mr. Lord served on the Board of the Bucks of the Month Club and was a member of The Lockheed National management Club Association. He was an avid chair caner and taught classes at WLM at First United Methodist Church in Marietta and OASIS at Blairsville United Methodist Church.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2004 in the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta with Rev. Ray Rowe officiating.  Internment was in Mountain View Park Cemetery.  The family received friends Friday, September 10, 2004 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to AFLAC Cancer Center of Children at 5455 Meridian Mark Rd., Atlanta, GA 30342.
