Mrs.
Barbara Jean Sosebee, age 61, of Jewell Mason Rd., Blairsville passed
away on
Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 in the Union General Hospital following a
brief
illness. Mrs. Sosebee was born on May
21, 1948 in Towns County, GA, the daughter of the late Robert Lee
Thompson and
the late Nannie Lou McClure Thompson.
She was a lifelong resident of Union County.
Barbara was always smiling and never met a
stranger. She was a loving mother,
sister and grandmother. She was preceded
in death by a sister, Ruth Miller and a brother, William Thompson. Barbara was a member of Fairview Baptist
Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Sosebee are her fiancé, T.G. Fortenberry of Blairsville, one daughter
and
son-in-law, Pam and Robert Kitchens of Murphy, two sons, Sandy and
Randy Wood
of Hiawassee, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Dwayne
Taylor of
New Castle, PA, Lena and Billy McCollum of Blairsville, Becky and
Kenneth
Pickelsimer of Blairsville, four brothers and sisters-in-law, earnest
and Linda
Thompson of Blairsville, Jimmy and Judy Thompson of Blairsville, George
and
Darlene Thompson of Blairsville, Fred and JoAnn Thompson of
Blairsville, three
grandchildren, Cody and Jamie Kitchens and Joshua Wood-hale, many other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, Sept. 14, 209 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain
View
Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Jones and Rev. Jim Beasley officiating. Special music was presented by Jason Beavers
and the New Life Singers. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers, Bobby Fortenberry, Cody Kitchens,
Kenneth
Pickelsimer, Billy McCollum, Charles Blair, Grady Thompson II, Merty
(sic) Dyer
and Jason Beavers. Interment followed in
the Hiawassee Baptist church Cemetery.
The family met with friends at the funeral home on Sunday
evening from
6-9 p.m.

Mrs.
Sonia
Rae Feathers age 47 of Lula Rd., Lula, GA, formerly of Blairsville
passed away on
Saturday Sept. 12, 2009 in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in
Gainesville following
a brief illness. Mrs. Feathers was born on
Feb. 10, 1962 in St. Paul, MN. Sonia
loved animals and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Sonia was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Sonia
are fiancé Wayne Wiley of Lula, GA, one daughter and son-in-law,
Kimberly and
Andy martin of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Jarimey and
Jackie
Halstead of Blairsville and South Dakota, five grandchildren,
Christopher,
Kiara, Andrew, Jonathan and Emma, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
A memorial

Mrs.
Dimple
Everett Nelson age 90 of Grizzle Drive Blairsville passed away on
Friday, Sept.
11, 2009 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Nelson was born on Jan. 16, 1919 in Rome,
GA, the daughter of the late Andrew Everett and the late Sarah Seabolt
Everett. Dimple was the last of fifteen
siblings. She was always active in her
church. She was a loving mother,
grandmother,
great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald Thomas Nelson,
two
sons, Robert Lanham and Ronnie James Nelson, also a daughter, Juanita
Baugh. Mrs. Nelson was a member of Harmony
grove
Baptist Church..
Surviving Mrs.
Nelson are five children, Debbie and Rex Owenby of Blairsville, Gerald
and
Brenda Nelson of Blairsville, Linda Kinnersley of Loganville, GA,
Gloria
Thompson of Gainesville, Jerri Rogers of Blairsville, twelve
grandchildren,
eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, many other
relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at 4 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. B.A. Buchanan and Rev. Tim Kinnersley officiating. Special music was presented by the Kelley
Trio. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers, Dylan, Devon and Kevin Nelson, Josh cook, Ryan Owenby, Tim
Kinnersley and Shane Spivey. Serving as
honorary pallbearers were Rex Owenby and randy York.
Interment followed in the Union Memory
Gardens Cemetery. The family met
with friends
at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.

Helen Lucile Maxwell, age 93, of Luther Cain Drive, Suches, GA, passed

illness. Mrs. Maxwell was born on Aug.
27, 1916 in Cleburne, TX, the daughter of the late Hugh Blasingame and

Ruby Wilson Blasingame. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Raymond Maxwell in 2004. She
was a loving mother, grandmother, great
grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Mrs. Maxwell was of the Protestant faith.

Mr.
Wade Sidney Stevens, age 76, of Blairsville passed away on Tuesday,
Sept. 8,
2009 in the Gwinnett Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Stevens was born on May 8, 1933 in
Coweta, County, GA, the son of the late Joe Stevens and the late Julia
Stokes
Stevens. Mr. Stevens was a 1958 graduate
of Auburn University. Before his
retirement he had been employed with NASA and the DOT for over thirty
years. He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Zeanne Houllemont and a brother, James Ormond Stevens. Mr. Stevens was a member of Sharp Memorial
United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr.
Stevens are one son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Lisa Stevens of
Blairsville,
one sister, Dot Waller of Cannon, GA, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Joan Stevens of Eastman, GA, Don
and Sally
Stevens of Wetumpka, AL, one granddaughter, Marze Houllemont, many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service will be held on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. from the Sharp
Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darris Baker officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family

Multiple
Sclerosis Society in memory of Mr. Stevens.

Gunter Lane, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday

Mrs. Lane
was a native of Bell County, Kentucky, and moved
to Blairsville in 1974; she attended the House of Prayer
Interdenominational
Church. Mrs. lane
was preceded in death by her husband, John Lane; a son, Willie b. lane;
and a
grandson, Jason Pascarella. was born in
Union County,
GA, to the late and the late.
Surviving
family members include: a son, Phillip Arnold Lane and his wife, sally,
of
Sevierville, Tennessee; a son, Sherman Delno Lane and his wife,
Victoria, of
Bowling Green, Kentucky; a daughter, Ola Vanek and her husband, Ron, of
Burbank, Illinois; a daughter, Dora Anna chandler and her husband,
David, of
Summerville South Carolina; and daughter, Jacqueline Faye Montreuil and
her
husband, Al, of Liberty Township Ohio; a brother, Robert Lee Gunter of
Evergreen Park, Illinois; and a special friend, Frances King of
Blairsville;
Sixteen grandchildren; Thirty-one great grandchildren and ten great
great
grandchildren also survive.

services were held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at 2 p.m., from the

of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Pastor Jerry Helton

Mrs. Eula
Mae Prater Dyer age 89 of Blairsville passed away on September 7 at the
Union
County Nursing Home. Mr. dyer was born October 28, 1919, the daughter of
the late
Mack Prater and the late Mertie Bryant Prater.
She was preceded in death by her husband Newt and brothers
Frank and Herman Prater. Eula Mae was a
lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Graveside
services were held on September 9 at Zion United Methodist Church and
included
the singing of many of her favorite hymns by friends and relatives. Interment was in the Zion United Methodist

Pauline
E. Archer, 69, of Blairsville Georgia, and formerly of Terre Haute,
passed away
after a valiant battle with cancer on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at her
home
surrounded by her family. She was born
on Jan. 8, 1940, to Ralph and Ruth Miller, in Terre Haute.
She graduated from Gerstmeyer Technical High
school in 1958, and married Floyd Guy Archer, also of Terre Haute,
where she
worked at Midland Glass Company.
After her
husband’s death, Pauline moved to Florida in 1981
and worked in various technical capacities for E-Systems and Raytheon. She retired as a Shopkeeper for Raytheon in
2000. That same year Pauline moved to
Blairsville GA, worked at the Safe House Domestic Abuse Shelter and
shared her
love of volunteer work by serving as a CASA Child Advocate. Her happiest times were spent gardening,
crocheting, and enjoying time with her family.
She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Blairsville.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Guy Archer;
parents, Ralph and Ruth Miller; brother, Harold Miller; brother,
Clarold
Miller; and son, John Wallace Archer.
Survivors
include a sister, Virginia Freese of Manson, IA; brother-in-law Darrel
Freese
of Manson, IA; two sons, Ralph Robert archer of Terre haute, and Paul
Guy
archer of Dover, FL; two daughters, Susan Kay Simpson of Lawrenceville,
GA, and
Sally Ann Tanner of Blairsville, GA; daughter-in-law, Vickie Archer of
Terre
Haute, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Archer, son-in-law James Irwin Simpson
of
Lawrenceville, GA; son-in-law Lawrence Edward Tanner of Blairsville,
GA; seven
grandchildren; ten nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and
nephews.

P. “Kay” Maier, age 83, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday,

7, 2009 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs.
Maier was born on February 19, 1926, in Allegheny
County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Leslie Pinkerton and
Frances
Pringle Pinkerton. She was a member of
Redeemer Lutheran Church in Winter Park, Florida. Mrs.
Maier had been preceded in death by her
husband, Oliver “Ollie” Maier; and son, Rick Maier.
Surviving
family members include son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cindy Maier,
of
Dawsonville, Georgia; grandchildren and their spouses: Ansley Maier
LeBlanc and
Marc LeBlanc, of Apex, North Carolina; Jason and Jennifer Maier, of
