Mrs.
Patricia Anne Smith Vanzura, of
Blairsville, GA,
passed away after a lengthy illness at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA
on
September 14, 2012. She was born on the 18th of March 1944 in Malden,
MA. She
is preceded in death by her loving husband Carl Wayne Vanzura,
her father, Richard R. Smith, and her mother, Doris Howe Smith.
She
is survived by her two children, Jon Jeffrey (wife Jessica, expecting
grandchild #6, Dylan), of Blairsville, GA and Daniel Wayne (wife
Kristen), of
Longwood, FL, 5 grandchildren, Nicole, Justin, Kai, Luke, and Grayson,
(4)
brothers, Mike (GA), Daniel (TN), Steve (GA) and Greg (FL), (6)
sisters, Betty Senger (AL), Peggy Monfort (OR),
Kathy Burke (GA), Sister Mary Joan Smith (PA), Nita Cadden
(FL), and Julie Roach (FL).
Patti
attended All Souls Parochial School in Sanford, FL, and graduated from
Seminole
High School, Class of 62, in Sanford, FL.
Patti was
retired disabled and was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic
Church
in Blairsville GA.
Services
will be held Thursday the 20th of September 2012 at 1 p.m. at St.
Francis of
Assisi Catholic Church located at 2839 Young Harris Highway
,
Blairsville.

Margie
Best Allendorf, 76, went to be with her
Lord and
Savior on Saturday, September 8, 2012 after suffering complications
from a Bone
Marrow Transplant. A memorial service and celebration of her life will
be held
on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Macon
Memorial Park
Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Dziadul
officiating.
The family will greet friends following the memorial service at the
funeral
home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Leukemia
Association,
3715 Northside Parkway, Building 400,
Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30327. A memorial
service will be held at a
later date in Blairsville, GA.
Mrs. Allendorf was born in Macon, GA to
the late Raymond (Buck) and Marjorie Best. She was preceded in death by
her
first husband, Gerald (Jerry) Vickers. Margie was retired from C&S
National
Bank as a Vice President and was an active member in the community in
Blairsville,
where she was a Pink Lady in Blairsville until her illness no longer
allowed
it. She has lived most of her life in Macon, GA and currently lived in
Blairsville, GA. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother
and
friend to many. The loves in her life were her family, square dancing,
making
quilts and giving to others.
She
is survived by her loving husband of nineteen years, Albert H. Allendorf of Blairsville, three children, Vicki
(Bryan)
Nelson of Lizella, GA, Angela (Mark) Vickers of Goochland, VA, Chris
(Kristin)
Vickers of Loma, CO, grandchildren, Calen
and Sage
Vickers of Loma, CO and sister-in-law, Nadine Powell of St. Simons
Island, GA.

Mr. John
Ashe “Jack” Gesch, age 83, of
Lake Vista Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012
in the
Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Gesch was born on August 22, 1929 in Seymore,
CT, the son of the late John Gesch and the
late Mable
Ash Gesch. He was a veteran of the US Air
Force
stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He retired as a policeman
with the
Lake Worth Police Department. Jack loved working with Youth Baseball
and had
umpired many games as well as coaching for many years. He also was a
private
pilot. He enjoyed the lake and his pontoon boat. Jack was a loving
husband,
father, brother grandfather and great grandfather. Jack was a member of
Coosa
United Methodist Church.
Surviving
Mr. Gesch are his loving wife of
sixty-two
years, June Williams Gesch of Blairsville,
sons and
daughters-in-law, John C. and LeeAnne
Gesch of Lake Worth, FL, Richard W.
and A. Hope Gesch of Hobe Sound, FL, one
sister and brother-in-law,
Joan and Henry Wasilek of Cheshire, CT,
two
sisters-in-law and husbands, Janice and Glen Boland and Wendy and
Harvey Holden
both of Blairsville, six grandchildren, Jenni,
Scott,
Juli, Crystal, Kimberly and Kristi, eight
great
grandchildren, Noah, Ashley, Lily Grace, Jakob,
Weatherly, Hayden, Jax and Hudson, many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service was held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 1 p.m.
from the Coosa
United Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. Harold Savage and Rev.
Katie Strals officiating. Special music
was presented by Cynthia Lumme. The family
met with friends on Thursday from 12-1
p.m. in the church fellowship hall prior to the services. In lieu of
flowers if
you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Coosa
United
Methodist Church for Feed the Children or to Shop with a Cop or to
Coosa United
Methodist Church General Fund in memory of Mr. Gesch.
Interment followed in the church cemetery with the North GA Honor Guard
conducting military honors.
