Mr. Roy
Mauney, 88 of Blairsville, GA,
passed away Monday, September 11, 1995 in Union General Hospital in
Blairsville.
Mr. Mauney was born in Union County,
GA, on May 31, 1907, a son of the late Charles
Mauney and
Theodocia Carroll Mauney. He was
a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Mauney was also a member of Allegheny
Masonic Lodge #114, F&AM.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Willie
Nicholson Mauney, of Blairsville; daughter, Mary Stephens, of Paducah,
KY; son,
William Robert Mauney of Gastonia, NC; daughter, Jimmye Floyd, of
Blairsville;
son, Raymond Mauney of Acworth, GA; son, Franklin Mauney, of Denver,
CO;
sisters: Minnie Teague and Bess Conley, both of Blairsville, and
Johnnie
Gladson, of Murphy, NC; eight grandchildren, and nine great
grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday,
September 13, 1995 at 2:00 PM from Antioch Baptist Church with Rev.
Billy
Rabern and Rev. Bill Gowder officiating. Special
music was presented by Tammy
Floyd. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Alan Mauney, Craig Mauney, Charles Floyd, David Simpson,
Mack
Sullivan, and Walter Rush Mauney.
Interment was in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville
in charge of arrangements.

Mrs.
Imogene W. Hughes, 86, of Blairsville,
GA, passed away early Sunday, September 10, 1995 in Union General
Hospital in
Blairsville.
Mrs. Hughes was born April 22, 1909
in Union County, GA, daughter of the late John Bascomb Kelley and
Gertrude
Weaver Kelley. She was a lifelong
resident of this area and a member of First United Methodist Church of
Union
County. Mrs. Hughes had been preceded in
death by her husband, Mr. Lee Hughes, in 1986.
Surviving are daughters: Frances
Sosebee, of Blairsville, and Linda Cagle, of Mesa Arizona; sons, Johnny
and
Tommy Hughes, both of Blairsville; brothers: Ray Kelley of Buford, GA,
Ira
Kelley of Atlanta, Tom Kelley of Morrow, GA, and Neal Kelley of
Blairsville;
sister: Lillian Kelley of Blairsville; seven grandchildren and six
great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
September 12, 1995 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home
with
Rev. Robert Passmore, and Rev. Charles Black officiating.
Special music was presented by Susie
Phillips, Louise DeLong and Sarah Kelley.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers for the service:
James
Kelley, Bill Kelley, Jack Kelley, Mike Kelley, Brian Kelley, and Gary
Kelley. Interment was in Blairsville
City Cemetery.
