Pearl
Aileen Clayton Thomas, age 84 of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at
Hospice of
Chattanooga, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Aileen
was born in
Fulton County, GA, on Friday, July 16, 1926, a daughter of the late
William
Sanford Clayton and the late Dovie Isabell Gravitt Clayton. She had lived in the Blairsville area for most
of her life, and was a member of Trackrock Baptist Church in
Blairsville. Preceding her in death was a
son, Eddie
Thomas; a grandson, Gregory Scott Thomas; her parents, Will and Dovie
Clayton;
two sisters: Daisy Hutto, and Annie Grant; three brothers: Willard
Clayton,
Edward Clayton, and Lanier Clayton.
Surviving
family
members include: son and daughter-in-law: Nathan Leon and Nancy Thomas,
of
South Pittsburg, Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and Joe
Dillard of
Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Fannie and Danny Garrett, of
Murrayville,
Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Frances and L.C. Fortenberry, of
Blue
Ridge, Georgia; brother, Charles Clayton, of Woodstock, Georgia; Ruby
Eidson,
of Calhoun, Georgia; ten grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral
services were
held Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Trackrock Baptist
Church,
with Rev. Steve Clayton officiating. The body lay in state at the
church
beginning at 1:30 p.m. Music was
provided by Brandon Garrett. The
following gentlemen were selected to serve as pallbearers: Danny
Dillard, Royce
Dillard, Steven Thomas, Brian Garrett, Brandon Garrett, Barry Garrett,
and
Jeryl Fortenberry. Burial was in
Trackrock Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation
at the funeral home started on Tuesday evening, after 6 p.m., with the
family
meeting with friends from 6 until 9 p.m.
The
family has
suggested that if you wish to do so, memorial contributions may be sent
to your
favorite charity in memory of Aileen.

Mrs.
Barbara Deaver
Garrett, age 54, of Blairsville passed away Monday morning, September
13, 2010,
in Union General Hospital in Blairsville. Mrs.
Garrett was a lifelong resident of Union
County and a member of Ivy Log Baptist Church. She
loved spending time with her family and
growing beautiful flowers. Barbara also
loved animals, especially her cats.
She was
preceded in
death by her husband, Dennis “Hambone” Garrett in 2008, her father, Ray
Deaver
in 1994, and two sisters, Sherrie Allison in 2004 and Sandra Foster in
2007.
Surviving
family
included: son and daughter-in-law, Timmy and Michelle Duckworth of
Blairsville,
son, Dale Duckworth of Monroe, Georgia, step-daughter, Stacy Garrett
Corn of
Blairsville; mother, Charlsie Deaver, brother, Danny Deaver, sister,
Carolyn
Hughes and brother and sister-in-law, Mack and Carolyn Sullivan, all of
Blairsville and grandchildren, Kimber and Ales Duckworth, Kaitlyn
Kelly, Josh
Corn, Maranda Stephens, Ashley Stephens, Kayla Mathieu and Kayla Corn.
Funeral
services were
held Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Bryan Mason officiating. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Timmy Duckworth, Danny Deaver, Ab Garrett, Josh Corn, Josh
Dills,
Gary Dills, Eddie Rich, and Dale Duckworth.
Interment followed in the Ivy Log
Cemetery. The family received friends at
the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.

Kenny
"Rooster" Ray Henson, age 11 of Meadow View Drive, Blairsville passed
away on Saturday Sept. 11, 2010 in Gilmer County following injuries
received in
an automobile accident. Kenny was born on
Jan. 27, 1999 in Marietta, GA, the son of Alan Harold Henson and Cheli
Angeline
Stewart Henson. He was attending the
Union County School System and was in the 6th grade. He
was a member of the Flag Honor Guard at
school. Kenny was a loving son, brother
and grandson. He was always well
organized, polite and had a smile for everyone. Football
was one of Kenny’s passions, a few of
the others were riding motorcycles, four wheelers and being with his
friends
and family. He lost his grandmother,
Margie Millholland Henson of Ellijay and formerly of McCaysville in the
accident also. Kenny was a member of Mt.
Zion Baptist Church.
Surviving
Kenny are his mother and step father, Cheli and Mark Collins of
Morganton, his
father, Alan Henson of Ellijay, two sisters and one brother-in-law,
Brittany
and Adam Davis of Jacksonville, FL, Morgan Collins of Morganton, one
brother,
Larry Henson of Ellijay, step sister and brother-in-law, Abbey and
Justin Benz
of Carthage, NC, grandparents, Larry and Myra Stewart of Dallas, GA,
James and
Jerri Haithcock of Carthage, NC, Roy and Mary Collins of West End, NC,
several
aunts, uncles, classmates, team mates, many other relatives and friends
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday Sept. 15, 2010 at 1 p.m. from the Mt.
Zion
Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Weaver officiating. The
following gentleman served as pallbearers,
Ricky Tanner, William Stone, Chad Winkler and Jeff Moon. Serving
as honorary pallbearers were Kenny’s
Team Mates and his many friends. Interment
followed in the church cemetery. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be
made to
the Union County Rec. Dept./Kenny Henson memorial Fund in Kenny’s
memory. The family met with friends at the
funeral
home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs.
Kathryn Muriel Jefferson, age 102 of Anchorage Drive, Blairsville
formerly of
Baltimore, MD passed away peacefully on Thursday Sept. 16, 2010 in the
Union
General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs.
Jefferson was born on Feb. 2, 1908 in Bel
Air, MD, the daughter of the late Carrol Croswell and the late Kathryn
Webber
Croswell. She was very active in her
church and had Sunday School for over thirty-five years at St. Johns of
Hamilton, OH. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Elsworth Layfield Jefferson in 1969 and also by five
brothers
and three sisters. Mrs. Jefferson was a
member of the House of Prayer and also attended Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Jefferson are one son and daughter-in-law, Layfield (Jeff) and
Pamela
Jefferson of Hiawassee, one daughter, Joan Beth Tuthill of Blairsville,
four
grandchildren, Keith and Shirley Jefferson of Jacksonville, FL, Julie
and Ron
McFillin of Bel Air, MD ,Scott and Joyce Jefferson of Bel Air, MD, Rick
Spector
of Tampa, FL, four great grandchildren, Andrew, Emily and Tina
Jefferson and
Abi Gail McFillin, one great-great grandchild, Quinn Lynea Morgan, many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
A
memorial service will be held at a later date from the House of Prayer
and will
be announced. In lieu of flowers if you
wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Gideon’s
(for
Bibles) or the House of Prayer or to Antioch Baptist Church in memory
of Mrs.
Jefferson.

william clarence “bill” bradley
William
Clarence “Bill” Bradley, age 71, of
Blairsville, passed away September 3, 2010.
Bill was born in Young Harris to the
late Newman c. Bradley and Annie Mae smith Bradley.
He was employed with Ingles Supermarket in
Hiawassee.
He is survived by his brother, Neil
Ray Bradley of Gainesville.
A memorial service is planned for a
later date.
