Mrs.
Gladys Thomas Rogers, age 65, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Sunday,
September 7, 1997 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs.
Rogers was born in Union County, Georgia, on September
21, 1931, a daughter of the late Gordon Thomas and Dessie Beavers
Thomas. She was a homemaker and had lived
in the
Blairsville and Murphy area all of her life.
She was a member of The House of Prayer Interdenominational
Church.
Surviving
are her husband Luther Rogers, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law,
Linda
and Herbert Kelly of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Barbie and
Jerry
Helton of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Freddie and Dolly
Rogers of
Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, David and Shirley Rogers of
Blairsville;
son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Betty Rogers of Blairsville; and son,
Jeff
Rogers of Blairsville; sister and brother-in-law, Ellavee and Ernest
Bolch, and
brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Betty Thomas, all of Gastonia,
N.C.;
eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and several nieces
and
nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, September 9, 1997 at 2 p.m. from The House
of
Prayer Church with Rev. Dolly Rogers, Rev. Jerry Helton and Rev. Bill
Honaker officiating. Special music was
presented by The House of
Prayer Choir. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers: Zach Helton, Josh
Wilson, Shawn Wilson, Wesley Kelly, Abraham Patrick, and Bill Dyer. Interment was in The House of Prayer Church
Cemetery.

Mrs.
Pauline Grace Stroud, age 87, of Acworth, died Wednesday.
Funeral services were held Saturday at
Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Rev. Stanley
Wilkins and
Rev. Brad Dewberry officiating. Burial
was at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens in Acworth.
A native
of Union County, Mrs. Stroud moved to Acworth in
1956. She was a school teacher,
retiring in 1971 after 35 years, including Oak Grove Elementary School. She was a member of new Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors
include five sons, Ronnie Stroud, Leon Stroud,
Paul Stroud, Martin Stroud, all of Acworth, and James Stroud of
Woodstock, GA.;
one daughter, Alice Casteel, of Griffin, GA.; sister, Mary Nichols of
South
Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Many other
relatives and
friends also survive.

Mrs.
Vesta C. Stewart, age 87, of Blairsville, passed away Thursday evening
in Union
County Nursing Home.
Mrs.
Stewart was born May 20, 1910, a daughter of the late William
A. and Effie Low Cook. She was a
homemaker and a member of pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her
husband, Thomas J. “Juddy” Stewart in 1970 and a son, Carlton Lee
Stewart in
1993.
Survivors
include sons, Arvil J. Stewart of Biloxi,
Mississippi and Melvin L. Stewart of Tuson, (sic) AR.; daughters,
Clarena
Keller of Jonesboro, GA., Lena Saradnik of Salem, Mass., and Linda
Stewart of
Jonesboro; sisters, Cleo Wood of Bogart, GA., Juanita Fields of
Nicholson, GA.
and Eunice Shedd of Virginia beach, VA.; brothers, Ray Cook of
Nicholson, GA.
and Cletus Cook of Baltimore, MD.; fifteen grandchildren and twenty
great
grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, September 20, 1997 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant
Grove
Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Abernathy officiating.
Music by the church choir. Pallbearers were: Dan TrueLove, Charles
Brackett, J.B. King, Truett Brackett, Homer Powell, and Royce Brown. Interment was in the church cemetery.
