James
Edward Burke, Sr. of Forrestville, Connecticut and Blairsville, GA
dearly
beloved husband, companion and father, died at his Forrestville home on
Monday,
September 16, 1996 after a long illness.
He was 67. The cause of death was
pancreatic cancer. Mr. Burke was born in
Waterbury, Connecticut August 27, 1929, son of the late Patrick and
Edith
Burke. Mr. Burke attended Waterbury
schools and was a graduate of the University of Connecticut. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving with the
45th Infantry Division. He retired in
1988, after a long teaching career, in the Bristol, Connecticut School
System. He then moved to Blairsville.
Mr. Burke
is survived by his devoted family, his wife of 39
years, Kathryn Shea Burke, a daughter Maura Burke Albert of Canton,
Ohio; 3
sons, James E. Burke, Jr. of Southington, CT, Sean Patrick Burke of Los
Angeles, CA and Michael Matthew Burke of Southington, CT, two daughters
in law,
Audrey Clark Burke and Nancy Burke; a son-in-law, Patrick Albert and
his adored
and cherished granddaughter, Emily Burke of Los Angeles.
Two brothers, Patrick Burke of Cheshire, CT
and William Burke of Watertown, CT. One
sister, Edith Maloney of Westchester, Ohio.
Predeceased by one brother, George Burke.
Jim’s
joys in life were his family, gardening, travel and
reading.
There is
profound sorrow at his passing, you will be sorely
missed Jim. God speed.

mrs.
bonnie mae duckworth
Mrs.
Bonnie Mae Duckworth, 66, of Cleveland, Georgia, formerly of
Blairsville, GA,
passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 20, 1996 in Blairsville.
Mrs.
Duckworth was born on in Union County, Georgia, on
November 30, 1929, a daughter of the late Mack and Sudie Deyton. She was a homemaker and lived most of her
life in Union County. She was a member
of Bunker Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving
are her husband, Rev. Buford Duckworth, of Cleveland, GA; daughters,
Retha Collins,
Shirl Herr, and Susie Ellen Allen, all of Cleveland; daughters, Regina
Buffington and Donna Renea Lovell, of Gainesville, GA; and son, Stanley
Duckworth, of Cleveland; sisters: Mary Ramey, Flora Lee, and Myrtle
Evans, all
of Blairsville; brothers: Burley Deyton, Leon Deyton, and Bernie
Deyton, all of
Blairsville; thirteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren
also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, September 23, 1996 at 2 p.m. from Old
Liberty
Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Smith and Rev. Jesse Savage ficiating
(sic). Special music was presented by
Susie Jones. Grandsons served as
pallbearers with interment in the Church cemetery.
