Mrs.
Thelma Thomas Coker, age 86, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Monday,
September 20, 1999 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mrs.
Coker was born in Towns County, Georgia on Tuesday, December 24, 1912,
a
daughter of the late Ed Thomas and Fannie Cloer Thomas.
She was a homemaker and had
lived in the Blairsville area for most of her life.
She was a member of Bethel Methodist
Church. Mrs. Coker had been preceded in
death by four children; a sister, Ruby Silvia Thomas; and two brother: John Thomas and Harvey Thomas. Her husband the late Floyd Smith Coker, passed away in 1987.
Surviving
are daughters: Jerri Coker Brown, of Blairsville and Patricia Coker
Thomas, of
Woodstock; sons: Floyd Coker, Jr., of Cumming, Georgia; John Roy Coker,
William
Coker, and Alvin Coker, all of the Woodstock, Georgia; Robert Coker, of
Dahlonega, Georgia; and Bonnell Coker, of Young Harris, Georgia;
brother,
Nathan Thomas, of Alabama; sisters, Vina Cook, Pauline Collins, Flora
Collins,
Irene Collins and Era Mae Penland, all of Blairsville; 13 grandchildren
and 22
great grandchildren also survive along with many other relatives and
friends.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, September 22, 18999 at 2 p.m. from the
Trackrock
Baptist Church, with Rev. Harley Hunter officiating.
Special music was presented by Trackrock
Quartet. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers: Alan Brown, Carlton Coker, Grey Pursell, Franklin
Brown, Byron
Pruitt, and Bryan Peel. Interment was in
Trackrock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Emma Linda Wimpey Dyer, age 83, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Monday,
September 20, 1999 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs.
Dyer was born in Union county, Georgia on Friday March 17, 1916, a
daughter of
the late James Wimpey and Thanie Cook Wimpey.
She was a home-maker and a life long resident of this area. Mrs. Dyer was preceded in death by her
husband, the late Worth Dyer, in 1981, a brothers, James C. Wimpey, of
Blairsville, and Watson Wimpey of Hiawassee.
Surviving
are daughters, Susie Freeman, of Cleveland, GA and Shirley Dyer, of
Blairsville; sons: Roger Dyer of Lilburn, Melvin Dyer of West Germany;
Kenneth
Dyer and Sonny Dyer, both of Blairsville, and John Dyer, of Oklahoma;
sister,
Dessie Ledford, of Blairsville; brothers, John A. Wimpey of Hapeville,
GA; and
Patrick Wimpey of Macon, GA; grandchildren: Alicia Dyer and Suzette
Dyer, both
of Oklahoma; Emmalyn and Henrietta Dyer, both of Blairsville, and Pam
Pitts, of
Grayson, GA; Allen Dyer of Loganville, GA, John Dyer of W. Germany,
Doug
Freeman of Cumming, GA; Melva Lynn Anderson, of Albany, GA, Jenene
Womack of
Moultrie, GA; Matt Dyer and Amanda Henson both of Blairsville; thirteen
great
grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, September 24, 1999 at 2 p.m. from Old
Liberty
Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Young and Rev. Harley Hunter
officiating. Special music was presented
by Old Liberty
Church Choir and Doug Freeman. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Allen Dyer, John Dyer, Doug
Freeman,
Matt C. Dyer, Keith Pitts, and Chris Anderson.
Interment was in the Old Liberty Cemetery.

Mr. Dempsey Lee Poole, age 76, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 1999 in Union General
Hospital in
Blairsville.
Mr.
Poole was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on Saturday, October 7,
1922, a
son of the late Joseph Wilson Poole and Ellen Hobbert Poole. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the
U.S. Marines. Mr. Poole has been living
in this area since October of 1998 moving here from Macon, Georgia. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist
Church of Fannin County.
Surviving
is his wife, Virginia Calderon Poole, of Blairsville; sons: Dempsey
Poole, Jr.,
of Gray Court, SC; and Benson Poole, of Oklahoma City, OK; sister,
Evelyn and
brother, Kenneth Poole, five grandchildren and several great
grandchildren also
survive.
Memorial
services were held Saturday, September 25, 1999 at 3 p.m. from the
Seventh Day
Adventist Church of Fannin County with Elder Francis Scott officiating. Graveside services were held Monday,
September 27, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. from Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to
Seventh Day Adventist Church of Fannin County Building Fund.

Mrs.
Martha Lea Weis, age 78, of White Oak LN., of Blairsville, Georgia
passed away
September 23, 1999 at the Union General Hospital, following a long term
illness.
Survivors
include her husband, Viecent Donald Weis; two daughters, Elizabeth
Froman of
Sarasota, FL., and Roberta Lea Seiler also of Sarasota, FL; step
daughter,
Diane Maulsby, and a step son, Dean Weis; son in laws include: Neil
Froman and
LeRoy Franklin Seiler; grandchildren include: Laurie Lea Floyd, Julie
Marie
Moran, Deborah Wipperman, Pamela DeHan, and ten great grandchildren.
