Mr. Danny
Shane Woody, age 36, of Suches, GA, died Saturday, September 26, 2009
at his
residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Woody
was a native and lifelong resident of Union County
and was of the Baptist faith.
He is
survived by his parents, Lee and Joan Roper Woody of Suches,
GA; son, Colby Woody, Dahlonega, GA; daughter, Lydia Woody,
Blairsville, GA;
sisters and brothers-in-law, Joann and Billy Zeger, Flat Rock, AL;
Stacy and
Randy Harkins, Blairsville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and
Doris
Woody, Suches, GA. A number of other
relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held 3 PM Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Banister
Funeral Home
chapel (sic) in Dahlonega with Rev. Josh Mulkey officiating. Interment followed in the Woody Cemetery in
Union County.
The family
received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 PM until 9 PM and
again
on Monday until the time of service.

Mrs. Lori
Kay Wynn, age 41, of Guffey Valley, Blairsville passed away on
Saturday, Sept.
19, 2009 following an extended illness. Mrs.
Wynn was born on Aug. 31, 1968 in Dearborne, MI, the daughter of P.
Allen Wynn
and Dorothy Butts Dyer. Lori loved
movies, animals and enjoyed reading. She
was a loving daughter and sister. Lori
attended the House of Prayer Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Wynn are her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Quinton Dyer of
Blairsville,
father and stepmother, P. Allen and Debbie Wynn of MI, two sisters and
brothers-in-law, JuliAnna and William Branham of Monroe, MI, Lisa and
Nick
Heppard of Farmington Hills, MI, one brother and sister-in-law, Jason
and dawn
Wynn of Oxford Lake, MI, nieces and nephews, Justin and Rebecca
Branham, Ava
and Olivia Heppard, Makenna and Keegan Wynn, many other relatives and
friends
also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, William Branham,
Keith
and Randy Adkins, Craig Dyer, Jason
Wynn and J.M. Dyer. Interment
followed in the Union Memory Gardens
Cemetery. The family met with friends at
the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mr. Mark
Alan King age 47 passed away on Tuesday Sept. 22, 2009.
mark was born on
August 29, 1962 in Boston, MA the son of Charles W. King Jr. and
Barbara Munro
King. Mark was a loving father, son,
brother and grandfather. He enjoyed
cooking, boating and hunting and will be remembered for his boisterous
laugh
and love of his children. Mark was a
member of the Rotary and the Lions Club and owner of mark King
Insurance Agency
of Blairsville.
Surviving Mr.
King are his parents Charles W. King and sandy King of Wheaton, IL,
mother,
Barbara M. King of Snellville, GA, four children, Peyton King of
Monroe, GA,
Savannah, Isaac and Zachary King all of Blairsville, two brothers and
one
sister-in-law, Charles and Betsy King of Dawsonville, Paul King of
Snellville,
two grandchildren, Hadynne and Jadynne and many other relatives and
numerous
friends.
A
memorial service will be held at a alter date and will be
announced. In lieu of flowers if you
wish, the family request that memorials may be pledged to Mark’s
surviving
children in the form of a College fund c/o Nantahala Bank in
Blairsville.

Ermine
Palmer Branch, 96, of Blairsville, GA, died Friday, September 18,2 009 in Blairsville.
Graveside
funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday,
September 23 at Oakview Cemetery in Camilla with Rev. James Sapp
officiating.
Born
December 16, 1912 in Mitchell County she was the
daughter of the late James L. Palmer and Mary Ella Baker Palmer. Mrs. Palmer (sic) was a school teacher and a
member of Blairsville Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, John L. Branch.
Survivors
include a son, E.H. Branch of Blairsville; five
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren
and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation
was from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday,
September 23 at Parker Bramlett Funeral Home.

Mr.
Marvin
Henry Hernden, age 83, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday,
September
21, 2009, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
He was a well-loved and well-respected man in
the community. Mr. Hernden was born on
Saturday, April 17, 1926, in Palm Beach County, Florida, the only child
of the
late Herman Hernden and Fern Stalain Hernden.
His father, a pioneer in the Lake Worth area, and his mother was
a
teacher in the first school there.
Marvin graduated from lake Worth High School
in
1944, and joined the Army and served with the 94th Infantry Division in
France
and Germany. When the war was over, he entered college – the University
of
Florida, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Mr. Hernden retired from the City of Miami in
1981 and made Blairsville his family’s home.
He developed and was the owner of “7 Creeks Housekeeping Cabins”
in
Blairsville. Mr. Hernden was an active
member of First United Methodist Church of Union County, and a member
of
Fidelis Sunday School class. Marvin had
served as church treasurer for almost twenty years.
He volunteered for the Meals on Wheels
program, and the TULIP program. In 2002,
his first wife of nearly 50 years, Bobbie Yancey Hernden, passed away.
Surviving
family members include his wife, Flora Love Hernden, of Blairsville;
sons and
daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Ellen Hernden, and Ralph and Michelle
Hernden, all of Blairsville. Grandchildren:
Angie Hernden Pollard, Jessica Hernden, and Ashley Harris; great
grandchildren:
Isabella Pollard, Emma Pollard, Michael Rinker, and Zoey Hernden. Many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, September 25, 2009, at First United
Methodist Church
of Union County, with Pastor Ben B. Lewis officiating.
Special music was presented during the
service by Mrs. Phyllis Baker and Mr. Jeff Bauman.
Burial was in Choestoe Cemetery with military
honors presented by North Georgia Honor Guard.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Bud Akins, Bob
Head, Ed
Wiley, Ronald Taylor, Robert Rogers, Jerry Robertson, Ralph Hernden,
and Robert
Hernden.
