            Mr. Gerald Caldwell Overcash, age 79, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Dunedin died September 26, 1995 at the Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta.  Mr. Overcash was born in Dunedin, Florida, retired metal owner, employed by Sun-ni-land Motel and Golf Course in Dunedin, FL, a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Blairsville, GA, member of Club Bombers pitcher in First World Championship Team.

            Survivors are wife, Mildred P. Overcash of Blairsville, Ga; two sons, William G. Overcash of Marietta, GA and Robert C. Overcash of Toccoa, Ga; one bother, Kenneth L. Overcash of Clearwater, FL and one sister, Madge Nason of Safety Harbor, FL.

            Mrs. Catherine Jackson Weaver, 60, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, September 27. 1995 at her home.

            Mrs. Weaver was born in Union County, Georgia, on November 16, 1934, a daughter of  the late Jess Jackson and Myrtle Patterson Jackson.

            Surviving are her husband, Mr. John weaver, of the home; a son, Bill Talley, of Detroit, Michigan; and a brother, Wade Jackson, also of Detroit.

            Funeral services were held Friday, September 29, 1995 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Black officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Larry Patterson, Wendell Patterson, Andy Patterson, Roy Zane Patterson, Bruce Patterson, and Fred Roberts.  Interment was in Liberty Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.

            Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of arrangements.

mr. roger d. garrett

 

            Mr. Roger D. Garrett, age 44, of Dahlonega, GA died Sunday, October 1, 1995 at the Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega.  Mr. Garrett was a native of Union County, GA who had lived in Lumpkin County for the past ten years.  He was a carpenter and a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Union County.  He was preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Mary Garrett.

He is survived by sons, Michael Holbert, Chris Garrett, Corie Truelove, all of Dahlonega, Ga and Tony Holbert of Columbus, GA; daughters, Mrs. Robyn Nieto and Kayla Garrett, both of Dahlonega, GA; brother, Harold Garrett of Blairsville, GA and Willard Garrett of Young Harris, GA.; sisters Helen Abercrombie and Lizzie Grizzle both of Suches, GA, Essie Davis and Hattie Garrett of Blairsville, GA. Shelby Jenkins of Bunnell, FL and Edith Bradford of Calhoun, GA; several other relatives also survive.

            Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 1995 at the Banister Funeral Home chapel (sic) in Dahlonega with Rev. Harold Truelove officiating.  Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Union county.

            Mr. Harmon Brown, age 82, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, September 29, 1995 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.  Mr. Brown was born in Union County, GA on September 28, 1913, a son of the late Henry and Clesta Thomas Brown.  He was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church.  A son, Roger Brown, passed away in 1969.

            Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Nelson Brown of the home; three sons Junior Brown and Carroll Brown, both of Blairsville and Leon Brown of Clarkesville; six sisters, Connie Galloway of Gastonia, NC, Frankie Dunaway of Rockmart, GA, Ruby Sexton and Ellen Collins, both of Blairsville, Ethel Self of South Carolina, and Cleo Hooper of Hayesville, NC; four brothers, Emory Brown, Barney Brown, and Clayton Brown, all of Blairsville and Home (sic) Brown of Rockmart, GA; seven grandsons and two granddaughters, three great granddaughters and one great grandson also survive.

            Funeral services were held Sunday, October 1, 1995 at 3 p.m. from Old Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Young officiating.  Specially selected music was presented by the church choir.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Tim Brown, Mike Brown, Franklin Brown, Alan Brown, Alex Wade, and Chris Brown.  Interment was in the church cemetery.
