Mrs.
Patricia Brewer
Knight, age 65, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, September
25,
2011, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville, following a long, seven
year
courageous battle with cancer. She was
an inspiration to all who knew her.
Mrs.
Knight was born
in Atlanta, GA, on Sunday, February 17, 1946, a daughter of the late
N.D.
Brewer and the late Genevieve Mashburn Brewer. Patricia
had been a member of Ebenezer Baptist
Church for 28 years, and was very active in her church, keeping the
nursery
during the Sunday School time. Her
hobbies included crocheting, reading and spending time with family and
friends,
but her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren.
Patricia
is survived
by and will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Lee
Knight; son
and daughter-in-law, Chris and Connie Knight, of Blue Ridge, GA, and
daughter
and son-in-law, Kim and Gerald Dockery, of Murphy, NC; sister and
brother-in-law, Linda and Melvin Nettles, of Summerville, SC; brother
and
sister-in-law, Roger and Mary Brewer of South Carolina; grandchildren:
Brinna
Knight, Drew Dockery, and Maribeth Dockery; several nieces, nephews,
and many
friends also survive.
Funeral
services were
held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Tommy Jenkins officiating. Special music was presented for the service
by Ebenezer Baptist Church choir. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Kevin Garrett, Swanson Hood, Hubert Plott, Anthony Tritt, Billy
Robinson, and Drew Dockery. Burial was
in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation
at the funeral home was held Tuesday evening, September 27, 2011, from
the
hours of 6 until 9 p.m.
The
family has
requested, in honor of Patricia's long battle with cancer, that
memorial
contributions be made to Ebenezer Cancer Relief Fund, c/o Frances Brown. Please call the funeral home for the address.

Mrs.
Birdie Geneva
Davenport, age 77 of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on
September 27,
2011. Mrs. Davenport a beloved mother,
grandmother and great grandmother was born April 4, 1934 in
Blairsville, GA to
Earnest Beaver and Vestie Thomas Beaver. A
member of Hemptown Baptist Church, she was
preceded in death by husband, Junior R. Davenport, son, David Davenport.
Survivors
include:
son, Danny (Cindy) Davenport, son, Damon (Vicki) Davenport,
daughter-in-law,
Janice Davenport Brown, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many
friends.
Funeral
services were
held on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Henry-Cochran
Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. David Whitener & Rev. Eric Davenport
officiating. Interment followed in
Hemptown Baptist Church
Cemetery with Rev. Travis Davenport officiated.(sic) Pallbearers
were her grandsons: Travis
Davenport, Nathan Davenport, Eric Davenport, Dawson Davenport, Tyler
Bradburn and
Austin Bradburn.
The
family received
friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge on Thursday,
September
29, 2011 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Mrs.
Dolores Juanita Floyt, age 89, of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville, GA
died,
Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Union County Nursing Home.
A
memorial service will be held at Branan Lodge on October 9, 2011 at 2
p.m.
Inurnment will be in East Tawas, MI.
Dolores
was born in Weatherford, TX, on January 29, 1922, the only child of
Clarence
and Attie Martin. Most of her life was
spent in Michigan, but the school years were in Texas, where she
graduated from
high school in San Antonio in 1938. She
married Victor H. Floyt in Ortonville, MI on April 26, 1941, and was a
homemaker all her life. A son, Roger
James, was born on May 7, 1943, and a daughter, Linda Louise, was born
on
August 14, 1945. The Floyt family lived
in Oscoda, MI for many years. The
children graduated from high school there, and all the family were
deeply
involved in Hope Lutheran Church and in Explorer and Girl Scout
programs
sponsored by the church. The family moved to California in 1978 after
Victor’s
retirement. Dolores moved to North
Carolina
in 1993 after the deaths of Linda and Victor. Her
son, Roger, died on March 23, 2007.
Surviving
Mrs. Floyt are her daughter-in-law, Veatrice Floyt of Blairsville, GA,
grandson, James and wife Vicki Floyt granddaughter, Kristen and her
husband
Chet Falk, great grandchildren, Megan Leigh Bauer, William James and
Olivia
James Floyt.
Memorials
may be made to All Saints Lutheran Church, Blairsville, GA or to Branan
Lodge.

Mrs.
Susan Alice Wilson, age 59, of Honeysuckle Lane, Blairsville, passed
away,
Monday, September 26, 2011 at Union General Hospital following an
extended
illness. Mrs. Wilson was born, October 7, 1951, in Acushnet, MA a
daughter of
the late Karlton and Doris Helen Burke VanCour. She
moved here 20 years ago from Broward
County, FL. Susan loved spending time
with her grandchildren, she was an outgoing and loving mother. Susan had worked at United Community Bank for
over 12 years. She was a member of Mt.
Pleasant #1 Baptist Church.
Surviving
Susan are her daughter and fiance, Bethany Wilson and Brian Howard of
Blairsville, GA; Robert VanCour of MA, nephew, Robert VanCour, Jr. of
MA; four
grandchildren Michael Lloyd, Brittany Lloyd, Dylan Scott and Sue Ellen
Scott.
Memorial
services for Susan were Thursday September 29, 2011 at 6 p.m. at Mt.
Pleasant
#1 Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Beavers officiating. The
family received friends at the church
following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family
suggest that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
