mrs. ruth louise white garr

 

Mrs. Ruth Louise White Garr, age 98, of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2004 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.  Mrs. Garr was born on October 1, 1905 in Daytona, FL, the daughter of the late Robert L. Pappy and the late Maud Ranger Pappy.  She had been living in Union County for the past seven years, moving here from Keystone Heights, FL.  She had lived in Jackson, GA for over forty years.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn B. White in 1940 and her second husband, Wilmer C. Garr in 1974, two brothers, Robert and Gerald Pappy, sister Helen See.  Mrs. Garr was a member of the All Saints Lutheran Church.

Surviving Mrs. Garr are one son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Janice White of Blairsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Lonnie McMillian of Madison, AL, Gail and George Head of Macon, GA; seven grandchildren, Glynda Cavalcanti, Gary and Greg White, Valerie Cushing, Barbara Fisk, Emily Key and Susan Whitehead; ten great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial  services were held on Friday, October 1, 2004 (which would have been Mrs. Garr’s 99th birthday) at 11 a.m. from the All Saints Lutheran Church with Pastor Chuck Houska officiating.  Interment followed in the Providence Methodist Church Cemetery in Hill Falls, GA.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the All Saints Lutheran Church Building Fun in Mrs. Garr’s memory.

donald hale clark

 

Mr. Donald Hale Clark, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004 in Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, Georgia.

Mr. Clark was a native of South Dakota and had been living in the Blairsville area since 1980, moving here from Melbourne, Florida.  Mr. Clark had moved to Florida from Tucson, Arizona.  He was a retired Air Force veteran of Korea and World War II, and had also served in the Navy for 4 years.  Mr. Clark attended Coosa Methodist Church.  He had been preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 1986.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, William Alan and Sheila Clark, of Hiawassee; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ken Carlton of Blairsville; sisters, Dorothy Olsen, of Redding, CA and Loretta Morris, of Paso Robles, CA; granddaughters: Christine Clark of Cumming, GA and Laura Staszak, Amelia Island, FL; many other friends and relatives also survive.

Memorial services were held Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville.

mrs. ada cook souther

 

          Mrs. Ada Cook Souther, age 98, of Blairsville, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2004 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.  Mrs. Souther was born in Union County, Georgia, on Saturday, September 16, 1906, a daughter of the late Fate Cook and Amy Johnson Cook.  She was a homemaker and a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.  Mrs. Souther was preceded in death by her husband, James Quince Souther; and three sons: Junior Souther, F.C. Souther, and Wayne Souther.

            Mrs. Souther is survived by son and daughter-in-law, James and Mary Souther, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Willene and Ed Blackburn, of Florida City, Florida; daughter-in-law, Marian Souther, and daughter-in-law, Winona Plott, both of Blairsville; seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren also survive.

            Funeral services were scheduled for Friday, October 1, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Track Rock Baptist Church, with Rev. Harley Hunter and Rev. Wade Plott officiating.  The body lay instate at the church starting at 2:30 on the day of the service.  Burial was in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
