Richard
Greydon Baker of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, September 18,
1996 at the
North East Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA after a lengthy
illness.
Mr. Baker
was born Salamanca, New York on January 30, 1931,
the son of the late Greydon Henry Baker and Eva Aust Baker. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean
War.
Mr. Baker
moved to this area three years ago from Venice,
Florida where he owned and operated R. G. Baker Construction, Inc.
Surviving are his wife Sharon Lea
Baker of the home, sons Donald
Richard Baker of Venice, Florida and Randall Jonathon Baker of Atlanta
and his
mother-in-law, Majorie Smith McClellan of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
A memorial
service for Mr. Baker will be held Monday, October 14, 1996 at 2 p.m.
at
Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville.
In lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice or a
charity of
choice.

Mr.
Kermit
Roosevelt Deaver, 83, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday,
October 3,
1996 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville, due to injuries
sustained in an automobile
accident.
Mr.
Deaver was born in Union County, on December 11, 1912, a
son of the late Solomon A. Deaver and Callie Amanda Chastain Deaver. He was a World War II Veteran of the U. S.
Army Air Corps. Mr. Deaver was a lifelong
resident of this area and a member of Ivy Log Baptist Church.
Surviving
are son, Joe Deaver, of Murphy, NC; son and daughter in law, Jimmy and
Debbie
Deaver, of Blairsville; sister, Marie Hill, and brother, Earl Deaver,
both of
Blairsville; and grandson, Eric Deaver; several nieces and nephews also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, October 5, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of the Funeral
Home with Rev. Jerry Karnes officiating.
The following gentlemen served as Pallbearers:
Jack Gray, Bruce Gray, Roger Stilwell, Elmer
Thompson, Larry Connally, and Dale Elliott.
Interment was in Ivy Log Baptist church Cemetery.
Cochran
Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.

Vaudie
Augusta Cook Houser 83, of Gastonia, NC, died October 3, 1996 at home.
She was a
native of Union County, GA, daughter of the late
Jim and Ellen Voyles Cook, wife of the late Dewey Houser.
Survivors
include daughters, Betty Jean Thomas, Flowery
Branch, GA, Mildred Adams, Sue Smith, Gastonia, Anita Houser, the home;
brother, Lonnie Cook, Blairsville, GA.
The
funeral was held 2 p.m. Sunday, Carothers Funeral Home,
Gastonia, with Rev. Leo Kuykendall officiating.
Interment was at Hollywood Cemetery.
