MR. ALAN M. MOSHER

 

Mr. Alan M. Mosher, age 75, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2001, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mr. Mosher was born in Essex County, Massachusetts, on Sunday, September 5, 1926, a son of the late James Raymond Mosher and Florence Edna Greenwood Mosher.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served during World War II, in the South Pacific.  He was retired from Pan Am and Lockheed, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic.  Mr. Mosher was of the Protestant faith.  He had been preceded in death by his wife, June Mosher, in 1998.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Mike Keegan, of Macedon, New York; two granddaughters: Jeannine Sweet, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, and Christine Keegan, of Macedon, NY; three great grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services were held Thursday, October 5, 2001, at 2:30 a.m., from Chattanooga National Cemetery.

MISS BESSIE KATHLEEN MURPHY

 

Miss Bessie Kathleen Murphy, age 15, of Weaver Circle, Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2001, in the Egleston Childrens Hospital in Atlanta following a brief illness.  Bessie was born on Dec. 12, 1985, in Swainsboro, GA, the daughter of Patrick Murphy and Loraine Beasley Murphy.  She was a lifelong resident of Union County and had attended the Union County School System.  She was a sophmore at the time of her death.  She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Wesley Beasly; great grand parents: Pearl and Kate Murphy and Claude and Bessie Youngblood.  She has attended the Blairsville Church of God.

Surviving Miss Murphy are her loving parents, Patrick Murphy of Blairsville and Loraine Beasley Murphy of Blairsville; one sister: Frances Murphy of Blairsville; two brothers: Tim and Arnold, both of Blairsville; paternal grandparents: Arnold and Linda Murphy of Blairsville; maternal grandmother: Evelyn Beasley of oak Park, GA; niece: Tiffany Murphy; nephew: Timmothy Murphy, Jr.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 8, 2001, at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating.  Special music was presented by Michell Kirby. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Aaron Beavers, Andy Gwynn, Dustin Beasley, Daniel Murphy, Jamie Brown and Jeremy Richie.  Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

MR. JONATHAN A. OXFORD

 

Mr. Jonathan A. Oxford, age 88, of Blairsville, formerly of Alpharetta, passed away Sunday Evening in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mr. Oxford is survived by his wife: Allie Oxford of Blairsville; son: Mac Brown Oxford of Spartenburg, SC; daughter: Elaine O. Miller of Blairsville; sisters: Mary Ivy and Pauline Pickens, both of Lilburn, GA; and grandchildren: Mac Brown Oxford, Jr., and Susan Cathron, both of Spartenburg.

A family memorial service is planned for a later date. Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of arrangements.
