MR. solomon w. sosebee

 

Mr. Solomon W. Sosebee, age 73, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Saturday, October 7, 2000 in clay County Care Center in Hayesville, North Carolina.

Mr. Sosebee was born in Fulton County, Georgia, on Sunday, December 12, 1926, a son of the late Theodore Sosebee and Cora Free Sosebee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, and served during WWII. Mr. Sosebee had been living in the Blairsville area since 1977, moving here from Decatur, Georgia. He was a member of the Georgia National Guard for 25 years; a member of VFWs; a member of Union County Lions Club, and Dooley Masonic Lodge, #367 F & AM. Mr. Sosebee was of the Baptist Faith. He had been preceded in death by his wife, Frances, in 1993.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Special music was presented by ken and Elaine Young. Masonic graveside rites were presented at Union memory Gardens Cemetery by members of Dooley Masonic Lodge. Masons served as pallbearers.

MRS. ida caroline nichter

 

Mrs. Ida Caroline Nichter, age 96, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2000 in Copper Basin Medical Center in Copperhill, Tennessee.

Mrs. Nichter was born in Spring Garden, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, October 17, 1903, a daughter of the late William Theis and Marie Johannisohn Theis. She was a homemaker and was the widow of the late Albert Z. Nichter. Mrs. Nichter had been living in the Blairsville area for the past three years. She was of the Lutheran Faith.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edith Bitner, of Blairsville; three grandchildren: Eric Scot Bitner, Evan Todd Bitner, and Tammy Lynn Tyree; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive.

Funeral services and burial were in Orlando, Florida, and arrangements there were by Baldwin-Fairchild.

MRS. betty jean BURNS

 

Mrs. Betty Jean Burns, age 63, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, October 2, 2000 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Mrs. Burns was born in Union County, on Tuesday, January 19, 1937, a daughter of the late Buell and Doshia (Thompson) Little. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Burns was a member of Ivy Log Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lake Little.

Surviving are her husband, James H. Burns, of the home; two sons: Steven Burns, of Blairsville, and Tim Burns, of Gainesville; a daughter, Debbie Owenby, of Blairsville; seven sisters: hazel Halter, of Ohio; Rethel Twiss, of Blairsville; Janice Parr, of Ohio; Jerry Crisp, of Culberson, NC; Billie Colson, of Cartersville, GA; Frankie Medford, of Lawrenceville, GA; and Frances Harris, of Marietta, GA; grandsons, Kelam Burns, granddaughters Briana Burns, Hollie Owenby, and Lori Owenby, many friends and relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 5, 2000 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronny Crisp officiating. Special music was presented by the Ivy Log Quartet. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Charles Adams, Mike Twiss, Eric Harris, Brent Crisp, Ray Crisp, and Paul Thompson. Interment was in Ivy Log Baptist Church Cemetery.

MRS. ingrid nordin

 

Mrs. Ingrid Nordin, age 98, of St. Petersburg, Florida and Blairsville, Georgia passed away October 6, 2000 in Blairsville. Mrs. Nordin had been a part time resident of Union County since 1946. She was also a member of Providence United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Nordin, in 1986.

Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and William Moesker, of Blairsville; daughter, Nancy Arnold, of St. Petersburg; two grandchildren, Richard Arnold and Lisa Moesker; two great grandchildren, Julia Flynt and Stacia Arnold, all of St. Petersburg, also survive.

A dedication of her life was incorporated into a regular Sunday morning service at Providence United Methodist Church in Blairsville October 8th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to providence United Methodist Church.
