mr. david “rio”rich

 

Mr. David “Rio” Rich, age 65, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, GA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 in Union General Hospital.  Mr. Rich was born Sunday, October 22, 1939 in Union County to the late Jim Rich and the late Julie Colwell Rich.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County and also attended the House of Prayer Interdenominational Church.   David was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Junior Rich and J.M. Rich and three sisters, Marie Guffey, Bertie Arnold and Mary Jane King.

Survivors include: sister, Jan Nelson; niece, Martha Hamby; nephew, Mike Arnold; and niece, Jackie Arnold, all of Blairsville, GA.  Funeral services were held Friday, October 7, 2005 at 11 AM from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.  Music was provided by The Kelley Trio.  Interment followed in the Blairsville City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Terry Rogers, Stanley Garrett, Larry Turner, Ray Rogers, Ken Hall, Bobby Rogers, Steve Fiske and Brad Barnes.  Honorary pallbearers include: Andy Stephens, and The Union/Towns Volunteers for the Handicapped.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Thursday, October 6.  The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.  You may send condolences to the family and sign the guest register at www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.

mrs. ada harkins johnson

 

Mrs. Ada Harkins Johnson, age 88, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Union County Nursing Home.  Mrs. Johnson was born Monday, January 15, 1917 in Union County, GA to the late Newt Harkins and the late Maggie Rich Harkins.  Mrs. Johnson was a member of Owltown Church of God.  She was preceded in death by her husband, E.D. Johnson, son, Paul Johnson and daughter-in-law, Kathy Johnson.

Survivors include: son, Edgar Dale Johnson, Sr.,  daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Larry Hutson, sisters, Maedell Weaver and Donnie Burnette, grandson and wife, Kevin and Dena Hutson and grandson, Brad Hutson, all of Blairsville, granddaughter and husband, Anita and Danny Campbell of Madison, GA, granddaughter, Angela Johnson of Atlanta, GA and grandson, Edgar Dale Johnson, Jr. of Blairsville, GA.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 11 AM from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Bill Honaker officiating.  Music was provided by the Kelley Trio.  Interment was in Owltown Church of God Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Dale Johnson, Kevin Hutson, Brad Hutson, Danny Campbell, Daniel Campbell and Milo Fox.

mr. james edward dutrow

 

Mr. James Edward Dutrow, age 44, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Dayton, OH, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2005 in Atlanta.  Mr. Dutrow was born Sunday, January 22, 1961 in Chatham County, GA to Joann Stape Dutrow of Huber Heights, OH and the late John Dutrow.  He was a retired Air Force Veteran having served in Desert Storm and his hobbies were woodcarving, hunting and fishing.  He was preceded in death by nephew, Paul Leslie Gilstrap III.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his: wife, Gael Dutrow of Blairsville, GA, sons, Jarrod Dutrow and Garrett Dutrow both of Blairsville, GA, brother, Jeff Dutrow of Columbus, OH, sisters, Kim Gilstrap of Medway, OH and Michelle Bauman of Kettering, OH, several nieces and nephews.

A memorials service was held Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 2 P.M. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home, Blairsville with military honors conducted by Robins Air Force Base Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your local Hospice Organization.  The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.  You may send condolences to the family and sign the guest register at www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.

mrs. fern mary bosley

 

Mrs. Fern Mary Bosley, age 79, of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness.  Mrs. Bosley was born on Oct. 12, 1925 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Gordon and Mary Austin.  She retired from the Piedmont Hospital as an Operating Room Technician with over thirty-five years of service.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Beni in 2003 and by six brothers and sisters.  Mrs. Bosley was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Bosley are one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Bob Vanmeter of Murphy, three son and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sharon Bosley of Marietta, Terry and Terri Bosley of Baltimore, MD, Jack and Patty Bosley of CA, fourteen grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Branan Lodge in Mrs. Bosley’s memory.

mr. morille jerome michaud.

 

Mr. Morille Jerome Michaud, age 76, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Key Largo, FL, passed away Monday, October 3, 2005 at his home.  Mr. Michaud was born Sunday, May 19, 1929 in Aroostook, Maine, to the late Thomas Michaud and the late Eva Cyr Michaud.    A U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, he was preceded in death by brother, Paul Michaud.

Survivors include: wife, Beverly Jones of Blairsville, GA; brother, Reginal Michaud of Van Buren, ME; nephew, Thomas Michaud; nephew, James Michaud; niece, Ann Maire Violette; niece, Loueen Michaud; and niece, Mona Jean Rogals.

mrs. ethel goss berglund

 

Mrs. Ethel Goss Berglund, age 73, of Forrister Place, Blairsville made her transition on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005 at her home following a long illness.  Ethel was born on Oct. 3, 1931 in Richmond, VA, the daughter of the late Stanley Garland Goss and the late Virginia Squires Goss.  Later moving to Lynn, MA, being employed by General Electric and late by Colby Jr. College in New London, NH. 

Ethel was truly a person of love and light sharing personality with all who came in contact with her.  Her warm smile was a blessing and her love of god always given freely.  She will be missed by many and the world was a better place while she was here.

She was a member of the Plainfield Christian Science Church Independent in Plainfield, NJ, and later attended Unity Church of the Mountains in Blairsville.  She was a long time member of the Mayflower Assc, and DAR in Sarasota, FL.

Surviving Mrs. Berglund are her loving husband of forty-nine years, Russell Townsend Berglund of Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Ann and David McCabe of Ogdensburg, NY, one son, George Stanley Berglund of Sarasota, FL, one grand-daughter, Shannon Joy Lamb of Sarasota, great grandchildren, Sean Nichole Lamb, George Anthony and Dayton Gregario all of Sarasota, many other loving friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Maggie King officiating.  Special music will be presented by Maria Schaefer.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Georgia Mtn. Hospice, PO Box 580, Jasper, GA 30143 in Mrs. Berglund’s memory.

mr. parker reed hambelton sr.

 

Mr. Parker Reed Hambelton Sr., age 82, of Baberry lane, Blairsville, formerly of Ft. Pierce, FL passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Hambelton was born on Sept. 11, 1923 in Ft. Pierce, FL, the son of the late Leslie Hambelton and the late Jesse Parker Hambelton.  He was retired from the US Marine Corps and served in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.  Mr. Hambelton was of the Presbyterian Faith.

Surviving Mr. Hambelton are his wife of fifty-eight years, Dorothy Sullivan Hambelton of Hilton Head, SC, two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Charlie Hambelton of Ft. Pierce, FL, Reed Hambelton of Blairsville, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jim Lindsey of Ft. Pierce, Candy and Darren Gordon of Hilton Head, SC, one brother, Denny Hambelton of FL, eight grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
