Carol
Jo “C.J.” Harris passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2008 following a
long
illness. Mrs. Harris was born on December 1, 1942, in Jacksonville, FL. She and her husband moved to Blairsville
in
May 2004.
Mrs. Harris
is survived by her husband, Robert L. “Bob” Harris.
She also leaves her son Edward A. Laabs and
her daughter-in-law Cindy along with her grandchildren Courtney,
Brittany, and
Tyler, of Jacksonville, Fl, and her son, Richard D. Laabs of Norcross,
GA. Her son Michael preceded her in death
leaving
her daughter-in-law Karena and her children Marlena, Michael, and
Christopher
of Titusville, FL.
C.J. was
very close to her siblings Sherry (Jim) O’Neill, of Delray Beach, FL;
Pam
(Kenneth) Knox of Houston, TX, and Fred (Karen) Knoche of Blairsville,
GA.
C.J. is
also survived by her step children Sally Hart, Suzi Pearlstein (Al) and
the
children, Sam and Joseph, Adam R. Harris (Michele) and their daughter
Abigail
and Jennifer Finkelstein (Marc) and their children Lena Rose and
Gabriel.
A memorial
service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 1 PM at St.
Clare’s
Episcopal Church.
In lieu
of flowers, donations may be made to Regency
Hospice.

Eileen
B. Timmer, age 61, of Blairsville, GA, passed away at her home on
Friday,
October 10, 2008. Eileen was born
Monday, June 23, 1947 in San Juan County, NM, to the late Rev. Milton
L. and
Irene Lowrey Little. A member of Evangel
Worship Center, she taught school at MACA and was very active in church
and the
music ministry. Eileen was preceded in
death by sisters, Theola D. Lapioli and Ethelyn Graves, and a son, Paul
S.
Little.
Survivors
include: husband of 42 years, Rev. David C. Timmer of Blairsville, GA;
son,
Kevin D. Timmer of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Wanda L. Little of Sparks,
NV,
sister, Janella Sayers of Brandon, FL.
Funeral
services will be held Friday, October 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. from the
Chapel of
Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Pansler officiating. Music will be provided by Wanda Little,
Janella Sayers and rev. Eugene Pansler. Interment
will follow in Ivy Log Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family
will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, from 6
until 9
p.m.

Jonnie
Mae England Smith passed away on October 4, 2008. Jonnie
was the fifth daughter of Hassie and
Jim England. She was born in Union
County, Blairsville, GA. on November 22, 1922.
Jonnie was one of six daughters, Michael, Merner, Peg, June, and
Mary. She also had one brother Vaughn.
Jonnie’s
early years were spent in Blairsville, GA.
As a child, most of her time was spent with her siblings and
cousins.
At age 24
she moved to the Marietta, GA, area and worked for the mayor, Mr.
Blair, as his
housekeeper.
Jonnie
loved her hobbies of reading, sewing, dancing, music and shopping. She attended Union County High School where
she was considered a very bright student.
Due to the needs of her family she began working and was unable
to
complete her high school education.
Jonnie continued learning skills through studying books. She excelled in the fields of sewing and
cooking.
August of
1950, Jonnie married William Smith. The
following year Jonnie and William became
the proud parents of a baby girl, Jewell Lynn Smith.
She set an excellent example for her young
daughter, teaching Lynn to be honest, fair and to have good work ethics. Jonnie was blessed with two grandchildren,
Tracey Lynn Wilson and Emery Thomas Wilson III,
she
also has one great grandchild, Ryan Ashton Wilson.
Jonnie
worked for 37 years with Marietta Draperies. Upon
her retirement, she was presented a
music box and retirement party by the company.
After retirement Jonnie enjoyed time with her daughter,
grandchildren
and great grandchildren. She still found
time for friends and the little things that made her happy; reading,
sewing and
cooking.
Jonnie
was a strong, upstanding Christian woman, she enjoyed
attending church services, singing gospel and reading her Bible daily. Her greatest reward in addition to the love
and admiration of her family, is her name
in the Lambs
Book Of Life. Jonnie is enjoying the
ultimate reward of being with our Lord in heaven.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, October 7 at 2 PM from the Winkenhofer
Pineridge
Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA, with the Rev. Wendell Cooper and Rev.
Harry
Bramlett officiating. Interment followed
in Pine Ridge Memorial park in Kennesaw.

of all arrangements.

Mrs.
Rose Thiel Frye, age 98, of Wilmar Circle, Blairsville, passed away on
Monday,
Oct. 6, 2008 at Stonehenge following an extended illness.
Mrs. Frye was born on Oct. 2, 1910 in Bronx,
NY, the daughter of the late Otto Thiel and the late Margaret Reid
Thiel. She was a volunteer at the day care
center
and for Meals on Wheels. She was
preceded in death by her husband, William R. Frye in 2006.
Mrs. Frye was a member of St. Clare’s Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Frye are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Joseph Meder
of CA,
Lesley and Tyler Gray of IL, seven grandchildren, twelve great
grandchildren, many
other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service was held on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. from St. Clare’s
Church
with Father Tom Martin officiating. Interment
followed in the church columbarium. IN

the Relay For Life in memory of Mrs. Frye.

Mr.
Donald
Teague, age 67, of Turner Rd., Blairsville passed away on Sunday,
October 5,
2008 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Mr. Teague was born on Aug. 8, 1951 in
Detroit, MI, the son of Una Bell Hill Teague and the late (Duge)
William
Teague. He was a lifelong resident of
Union County. Donald was a loving father
and grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. His
favorite pastimes were riding his Harley
and hanging out with his friends. He was
preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and David Teague, a sister
Sonja
Kinbziena. Donald was a member of
Owltown Church of God.
Surviving
Mr. Teague are one son, David Teague of Blairsville, one daughter,
Jolene
Teague of Denver, CO, mother, Una Bell Hamlet of Sisterville, WV, one
brother
and sister-in-law, Dennis and Billie Kinbziera of Johnson City, TN, two
sisters
and brothers-in-laws, Geraldine and Roy Schulert of Rochester Hills,
MI, Sandy
and Craig Bassett of WV, one granddaughter, Meagan Teague of Denver,
CO, aunts,
uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Friday,
Oct. 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with
the
Rev. Rayburn Wilson officiating. Special
music was presented by John Nix
and Ken Young. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers, Ben Brown, Bo Jones, Billy Logan, Ricky King,
Ricky
Abercrombie and Johnny Burnette. Interment
followed in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Vellamae Eva Bryson, age 67, of Totherow Rd., Blairsville, passed away
peacefully at the home of her daughter on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008
following an
extended illness. Mrs. Bryson was born
on July 29, 1941 I Fannin County, GA, the daughter of the late Floyd
Totherow
and the late Flora Rector Rhodes Totherow.
She was a lifelong resident of Union and Fannin Counties. Vellamae was a loving mother, grandmother and
great grandmother. She loved her church
and loved the Lord. She will be greatly
missed by all who knew her. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bryson, who passed away in
February
of this year and by three sisters, Irene, Velvie and Dellie. Mrs. Bryson was a member of Fairview Baptist
Church.
Surviving
Mrs. Bryson are five children, Stacey and Curtis King of Blairsville,
Max Angel
and Kim Angel both of Canton, GA, Janet and Casey Sheffield of Waleska,
GA,
Tessa and Pete Smith of Lafayette, GA, twelve grandchildren, four great
grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain
View
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Jones and Rev. Alan Rhodes
officiating. Special music will be
presented by Cody King. The following
gentlemen served as
pallbearers, Curtis King, Cody King, Max Angel, Kim Angel, Johnny Angel
and Ben
Burrell. Serving as honorary pallbearers
were Casey Sheffield and Kermit Totherow.
Interment followed in the Liberty Hill Church Cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral
home on Saturday and Sunday evening.
