mrs. ollie hood curtis
Mrs. Ollie Hood Curtis, 90, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Saturday, October 7, 1995 in Northeast Georgia Medical
Center in Gainesville. She was a native
and lifelong resident of Union County. A daughter of the late John and Wilda Roper Hood. Mrs. Curtis was a member of Union Baptist
Church was the widow of the late Mr. Howard Curtis, who died in 1987.
Surviving are
a daughter, Vada Curtis, of the home; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
October 10, 1995 at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev.
Dean Head officiating. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Rodney B. McCombs, Harold Crump, Bluford Dyer,
Wayne Hedden, Bill Holt, and Howard McCombs.
Interment was in Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.

mrs. eula mae addington colwell
Mrs. Eula Mae Addington Colwell, 79, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, October 14, 1995 at the Evangeline
Health Care Center in Andrews, North Carolina.
Mrs. Colwell was born in Union County, Georgia, on April 27, 1916, a
daughter of the late Herman Addington and Laura Bell Addington. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident
of Union County, and a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.
Surviving are her husband, Mr. Frank
Colwell, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Colwell, of
Blairsville; three sisters and brother-in-laws: Ruth and June Walker, of Blue
Ridge, Georgia; Jean and Quince Nichols, of Roswell, Georgia, and Eloise and
Richard Gray, of Blairsville; Granddaughter, Leslie Colwell, Granddaughter and
grandson in law, Leah and Greg Adams; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday,
October 16, 1995 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Danny
Parris and Rev. B. A. Buchanan officiating.
Special music was
presented by Nelson and Mildred LeCroy. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Haskin Colwell, Vaughn Colwell, Reid
Colwell, Larry Nichols, Jeff Walker, Jim Williams, and Tony Hamby. Burial was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers,
the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church
Building Fund, P.O. Box 2058, Blairsville, GA 30514.

mr. joe underwood
Mr. Joe Underwood, 70, of Blairsville,
Georgia, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 1995 in Union General Hospital in
Blairsville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Underwood was born in Union County, Georgia, on August 20, 1925, a
son of Vance Underwood and Iva Franks Underwood. He was a lifelong resident of this area and
was a member and deacon of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are seven daughters:
Kathleen Cook, of Morganton, Georgia; Ann Hughes, Linda Floyd, Judy Adams, and
Joan Hughes, all of Blairsville; Sandra Hill of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and
Vicki Dean of Cleveland, Georgia; Five sons: Rev. Harold Underwood of Browning,
Montana; Horace, Curtis, Dale and Jeff Underwood, all of Blairsville; three
sisters: Minnie Murphy and Christine Tipton, both of Blairsville and Aleen
Stephens, of Norcross, Georgia; and one brother, James Underwood, of Morrow,
Georgia; many grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services For Mr. Underwood were
held Friday, October 13, 1995 at 1:00 PM, from Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev.
Ray Harper and Rev. Mark Towery officiating.
Special music for
the service was presented by Mrs. Martha Davenport. Grandsons served as pallbearers, and Honorary
Escort. Interment was in Zion Hill
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers,
the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the American Kidney
