Rev. Earl
Pickelsimer, age 79, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, October 9,
2011 at
his home. Rev. Pickelsimer was born
Monday,
January 4, 1932 in Margaret, GA, to the late John Andy Pickelsimer and
the late
Fannie Warren Pickelsimer. Earl was a
lifelong
resident of this area, was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in
Blairsville. Rev. Pickelsimer was a
Baptist minister for over 35 years, pasturing in Pleasant Hill Baptist
church,
Friendship Baptist Church, and Cooper’s Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by: daughter, Sandra
Kay Pickelsimer, brothers, Elmer Pickelsimer, Estle Pickelsimer and
Everett
Pickelsimer; sisters, Pauline Cobb, Geraldine Totherow, Bertie Davis
and Niner
Snedegar.
Rev.
Pickelsimer
will be greatly missed by all who knew him – but especially his family:
his
loving wife, Dorothy Mason Pickelsimer, son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy
and
Darlene Pickelsimer, son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Becky
Pickelsimer,
all of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Earlene and Terry Folmar
of
Odessa, TX; brother, Arlin Pickelsimer of Blairsville, 9 grandchildren
and 11
great grandchildren. Many nieces and
nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services for
Rev. Pickelsimer were held Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the
Chapel
of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Garrett and Rev. Avery Beaver
officiating. Music was presented by
Robert Duckworth, Chris Rumfelt and Jason Pickelsimer. Interment
followed in the New Liberty Baptist
Church Cemetery, with Danny White officiating. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Jason Pickelsimer, Michael Pickelsimer, Clay Pickelsimer, Raymond
Davis,
Russell Davis and Tony Ledford.
The
family received
friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Monday and Tuesday,
October
10th and 11th, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Jack H.
Burns, age 85, of Paso Robles, CA
passed away October 3, 2011 at Mission View Hospital in San Luis
Obispo, CA.
Jack was born in Blairsville, GA on
August 23, 1926. He graduated from Union
County High School and joined the U.S. Army in 1944 serving his country
in the
Philippine Islands and occupied Japan.
He moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1947 and secured a job with Mobil
Oil
Company. He remained with this company
until his retirement.
Jack was preceded in death by his
loving wife, Betty Jean Long Burns of Paso Robles, CA, parents Horace
and Opal
Burns, brother Neal Burns, nephew Robby Burns, all of Blairsville, GA,
five
in-laws of Taft and Bakersfield, CA.
Survivors are son and
daughter-in-law Chris and LaWanna Burns of Bakersfield, CA, daughter
and
son-in-law Susan and Paul Kinne of Paso Robles, CA, five grandchildren
and
three great grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law Jean and Newel
Johnson of
Blairsville, GA, sister and brother-in-law Sherrel and George Schroeder
of
Mocksville, NC, brother Jim Burns of Blairsville, GA, nieces, nephews,
cousins
and other relatives also survive.
Jack was an avid golfer and golfed
every day as long as his health permitted.
He also was an excellent swimmer and worked at Vogel State Park
as a
lifeguard while in high school.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Chapel of The Roses Mortuary in Atascodero, CA.
Services were October 17th at North County Christian Fellowship
Church
Paso Robles, CA. Internment in the Paso
Robles Cemetery.

Mrs.
Rosemary Strickland, age 69, of Fern Dr., Blairsville, passed away
Tuesday,
October 11, 2011 after an extended illness. Rosemary
was born in Severville, TN a daughter
of the late Fred and Nora McClure Floyd. She
moved here in 2004 from Maryville, TN. Rosemary
was preceded in death by her husband
Paul Thomas Strickland; a daughter, Denise Dykes, sister, Colene Farmer
and a
brother, John Delmar Floyd. She attended
the Blairsville Church of Christ.
Surviving
Rosemary are a son Matthew Knott of Acworth, GA, daughter, Nora Holcomb
of
Acworth, GA, sisters, Dottie and John Kuberek of Blairsville, GA, Hazel
Whaley
of Maryville, TN, brother, James and Nancy Floyd of Knoxville, TN,
sister-in-law Wanda Floyd, five grandchildren, one great grandchild,
several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services for Rosemary will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2011
at the
Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Aaron Stanley and
Minister
Forrest Chapman officiating. Interment
followed Monday, October 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the Veterans Cemetery in
Knoxville, TN. The family received
friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m.
In
lieu of flowers there has been a burial fund set up in her name at
United Community
Bank to help defer expenses.

Mrs.
Winnifred "Winnie" Seiler, age 90, of Beale Ct., Blairsville passed
away October 10, 2011 in Union General Hospital following a brief
illness. Mrs. Seiler was born in Zion, IL,
on May 13,
1921, a daughter of the late Paul T. and Jenette Brooks Robbins. She
moved to
this area in 1982. Mrs. Seiler was
preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Molly
Robbins,
and a sister-in-law, Mickey Robbins. She
was a member of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Seiler are: her husband of 63 years, Harold “Si” Seiler
of
Blairsville, GA, children, Ann Lindsey of Missouri City, TX, Carol and
David
Dankoski of Chatham, IL, Jean and Jim Wagner of Madison WI, Beth and
Walter
Baehrend of Naperville, IL, Tom and Cindy Seiler of Roselle, IL,
brother,
Kenneth Robbins of Brookfield, WI, sister, Phyllis Russell of Surprise,
AZ,
seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2011, at
Sharp
Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. John Kay & Reverend David
Tinsley
officiating. In lieu of flowers the family

Mr.
Burnell Aaron, age 90, of Chatham Dr., Blairsville, went to be with the
Lord
Friday, October 14, 2011 at his home following a brief illness. He was born October 13, 1921 in Liberty, MS. He moved to Blairsville 7 years ago from
Lawrenceville, GA where he lived for 43 years. Burnell
was a WWII U S Army Veteran. He was
preceded in death by his parents who he
never knew, his uncle and aunt who raised him in Mississippi who he
called Mom
and Pops; he was also the brother-in-law of the late Arthur and Margie
Jones. Burnell was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving Burnell are: his wife Annie “Louise” Aaron of Blairsville,
several
nieces and nephews and all the people who knew him.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2011at (sic)
Lebanon
Baptist Church in Lawrenceville with Pastor Tommy Thomas officiating. Music was by The Son’s Light Singers and Grace
Mayes. Interment followed in Haynes
Creek Cemetery in Loganville. The family
received friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 until 9
p.m.

Mr.
"Jack" Thomas Scherette, Sr. age 64 of John Abernathy Road,
Blairsville formerly of Palm Beach County, FL passed away on Friday,
October
14, 2011 at his home following a brief illness. Mr.
Scherette was born on October 22, 1946 in
Quincey, IL., the son of the late Orville George Scherette and the late
Dorothy
Phillips Scherette. Jack was an avid
hunter and fisherman. He was a member of
the Dead Eye Duck Hunting and Fishing Club. He
was employed with Arne’s Auto Service for
several years. He was preceded in death
by a brother, Gary Howard. Jack was a
loving father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.
Surviving
Mr. Scherette two daughters, Peggi Pearce of Blairsville, Tawni Barley
of
Moorehaven, FL, one son, Thomas Scherette, Jr. of Palm Beach Garden,
FL, three
brothers, Randy Howard and Roger Howard of Prairie Grove, KS, Don
Scherette of
Idaho, three sisters, Kathy Williams of Las Vegas, NV, Danita Browns
and Cindy
Bradey both of Prairie Grove, KS, six grandchildren, Eric Pearce Jr.,
Ryan
Pearce, Cheyenne Pearce, Timothy Scherette, Angelique Scherette and
Brice
Scherette, one great-grandchild, Conner Pearce, many other relatives
and
friends also survive.
A
memorial
service and interment will be held at a later date.
