Mrs.
Monica H. Armstrong, age 88, of Blairsville, GA, died Sunday, October
11, 2009,
at the residence of her granddaughter in Jasper, GA, following a period
of
declining health.
Born
December 7 in Illinois, she was the daughter of the
late Joshua James Hinton and Cora Gates Hinton. She
was also preceded in death by her husband,
Joseph Edward Armstrong. Mrs. Armstrong
had last worked as a nurse and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors
include daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnne and
Robert Hutchenson of Blairsville, GA, Michele and Donald Rice of
Blairsville,
GA, sons and daughters-in-law James Edward and Elaine Armstrong, of
Milford,
NJ; Bernard Robert and Vickie Armstrong, of Jasper, GA;’ 10
grandchildren and
17 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Hinch, of Peoria, IL; Susie
Osterbur, of
Rapid City, SD; brothers, James Hinton of Blairsville, GA; Kenneth
Hinton, of
Mansfield, IL; Robert Hinton, of Tuscolla, IL; several nieces, nephews
and
other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Our Lady
of the
Mountains Catholic Church, with the interment following in Sunrise
Memorial
Gardens.
The family
received friends at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church on
Wednesday, 12
Noon until the Funeral Hour.
Flowers
will be accepted or donations may be made to Embracing Hospice of
Atlanta.

Frances
Gayle Sweeny of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, October 12, 2009
at her
residence.
A native of
New Orleans, LA, she was the daughter of the late Hooker and Laura
Reeves
Pickering. She graduated with a B.A.
from Loyola University and a Master’s Degree from the Chicago School of
Music. Frances was a former hand and
foot model and taught piano. She had
resided in Blairsville since 2001 and was a former resident of Pinellas
Park,
FL. Frances was of the Methodist faith
and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wilson Sweeny.
She is
survived by two sons, Michael Sweeny of Clearwater, FL and Tim Sweeny
and his
wife, Barbara of Blairsville, GA; two grandchildren, Samantha Walker
and Robert
Sweeny and three great grandchildren.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date.

Mrs.
Betty
Ann Legg, age 75, of 45 Nottely lake Court, Blairsville, GA, passed
away on
Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Union General Hospital.
Mrs. Legg was born January 12, 1934 in Union
County, Ga., the daughter of the late Jewell Tanner and Monteen Colwell. She was a life long resident of Union County
and a Nurses Aid for several years at Union County Nursing Home. Betty was a faithful wife, loving mother,
grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs.
Legg was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Legg are her loving husband of fifty seven years, Hubert Legg of
Blairsville,
two sons and daughters-in-law Russell and Charlotte Legg of Blue Ridge,
Randy
and Kathy Legg of Rockmart, GA, two daughters and son-in-law Teresa and
Kurt
Wetzel of Woodstock, Tammy McClure of Blairsville, two sisters and one
brother-in-law, Laurene and S.R. Abercrombie of Blairsville, Helen
Colwell of
Blairsville, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, many other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 3 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jonathon Hood, Rev. Kurt Wetzel, Rev. Lee Griggs officiating.
Special music was presented by the Ned Wilcoxen Family and The
Legg
Family. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers, Adam Wetzel, Jack Liu, Anthony Stanley, Brad Thomas,
Chad
Gassaway and Ryan Shealy. Interment
followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends on Friday from 6
p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from Noon to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Coopers Creek Baptist Church in memory of Betty.

charles “buddy” matthew monteleone
Mr.
Charles
“Buddy” Matthew Monteleone, age 66, of Mt. Pleasant Church Rd.,
Blairsville and
also of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at his
home following
an extended illness. Mr. Monteleone was
born on April 1, 1943 in Butler, PA, the son of the late Pascale
Monteleone and
the late Anna Isovitsch Monteleone. He
was a veteran of the US army of the Vietnam War. Buddy
was a loving husband, father,
grandfather and great grandfather. He
was a pilot for over twenty years and loved flying.
He was a member of the VFW and also Ford
Parts and Service Managers club. Buddy
was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Hunt in 2001 and a
grandson,
Charlie Hunt in 1999. Mr. Monteleone was
of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Buddy
are his loving wife of forty-four years, Trish Monteleone of
Blairsville and
Vero Beach, FL, one daughter and son-in-law, Anita and William Beebe of
Sebastian, FL, one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Paz Monteleone
of
Miami, FL, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Patsy and Carol
Monteleone of
Reister Town MD, David Monteleone of Butler, PA, John and Maria
Monteleone of
Miami, five grandchildren, Robert Hunt, Ivy Goodner, Adam Hunt, J.B.
Goodner
and Nicholas Monteleone, five great-grandchildren, Jaeda, Hannah,
Charlie,
Hazel and Jake, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date in Vero Beach, FL, and will be
announced. In lieu of flowers if you
wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American
Cancer
(Colon) Society or to Regency Hospice in memory of Mr. Monteleone.

Miss
Bessie Jane Dyer, age 70, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Wednesday,
October
14, 2009 at Union General Hospital.
Miss Dyer
was born on February 18, 1939 in Union Co., GA, to the late Sherman and
Nancy
Mitchell Dyer. She was a member of Faith
Baptist Church. Miss Dyer was preceded
in death by a brother, Grady Dyer.
Survivors
include: brother & sister-in-law, James Edward
& Stella Dyer of Dawsonville, GA, sister-in-law Mary Dyer of
Lawrenceville,
GA; and three nieces.
Funeral
services were held Friday, October 16, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Helms officiating. Burial was in Pine Top Baptist Church
Cemetery.
