Mrs.
Jessie Brown Corn, age 82 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday,
October 13,
2008 at the Atlanta Medical Center as a result of injuries received in
an
automobile accident. Mrs. Corn was born
Thursday, October 22, 1925 in Union County, GA, to the late
John G. brown and the late Ida Watkins Brown.
She was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church and was a
lifelong
resident of Union County. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Robert Corn; grandson, Ricky Warren;
her
parents, John G. and Ida Watkins Brown; and brothers, Gordon, Jim,
Johnnie and
William Brown.
Surviving
family members include: daughter & son-in-law, Carmell and Raymond
Dean;
son & daughter-in-law, J.E. and Portia Corn; son, Eugene Corn and
daughter
& son-in-law, Janie and Roger Beavers; all of Blairsville. Three grandsons, one granddaughter; three
great grandsons, two great granddaughters and many nieces, nephews and
other
relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 11 AM from the Chapel
of the
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Wade Plott and Rev. Larry
Truelove officiating. Music was provided
by the Kelley Trio and Mr. Brett Chatham.
Interment followed in the New Harmony Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were the following
gentlemen: Terry Warren, Joel Corn, Rick Bunch, William Brown, Jr.,
Kenny
Duckworth and Royce Brown. Honorary
pallbearers included: Alek Beavers and Isaiah Beavers.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 6-9 PM, Tuesday, October 14.

Eileen
B. Timmer, age 61, of Blairsville, GA, passed away at her home on
Friday,
October 10, 2008. Eileen was born
Monday, June 23, 1947 in San Juan County, New Mexico, to the late Rev.
Milton
L. and Irene Lowrey Little. A member of
Evangel Worship Center, she taught school at MACA and was very active
in church
and the music ministry. Eileen was
preceded in death by sisters, Theola D. Lapioli and Ethelyn Graves, and
a son,
Paul S. Timmer.
Survivors
include: husband of 42 years, rev. David C. Timmer of Blairsville, GA;
son,
Kevin D. Timmer of Los Angeles, CA; sister, rev. Wanda L. Little of
Sparks, NV,
sister, Janella Sayers of Brandon, FL.
Funeral
services were held Friday, October 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Pansler, Rev. Wanda L. Little,
and Rev.
Allen Sayers officiating. Music was
provided by Rev. Wanda Little, Janella Sayers, Rev. Eugene Pansler and
Corrie
Patterson. Interment was in Ivy LOG
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs.
Mary Penland Cook, age 92, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville,
GA,
passed away Monday, October 13, 2008 at her home in Blairsville. Mrs. Cook was born Thursday, August 17, 1916
in Union County, GA, to the late Thomas Gordon Penland and the late
Annie Mae
Hughes Penland. Mrs. Cook was a member
of the First United Methodist Church of Union County; and was a retired
school
teacher for the Union County School system.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Ernest Cook, in
1986.
Surviving
family members include: son & daughter-in-law, Melvin E. &
Patricia H.
Cook of Marietta, GA; daughter, Martha C. Cone of Blairsville; daughter
&
son-in-law, Claudene C. & Ted J. Smith of Hickory, NC; daughter,
Mary Ruth
Cook of Blairsville; grandchildren and their spouses: Jeff & Sharon
Cook,
Craig & Kathy Cook, Scott & Cathy Cone, Todd Penland Cone, Mary
Neil
Cone Edge & Jeff Edge, Kim & Eric Crosby, Tracy & Mike
Seagle;
eleven great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives
also survive.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the First
United
Methodist Church of Union County with the Rev. Ben Lewis, and Rev.
Eddie
Herring officiating. Music was provided
by Jeff Bauman, Keith Defoor, and Mrs. Cook’s daughter, Martha Cone. The following gentlemen served as
pallbearers: Jeff Cook, Craig Cook, Scott Cone, Todd Cone, Jeff Edge,
Eric
Crosby, Mike Seagle, and Tyler Cook. Interment
followed in Union memory Gardens.
The family
received friends at the funeral home from 6 until 9p.m., Tuesday,
October 14.

United

Mr.
Charles
James “C.J.” Patterson, age 86, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Dalton,
GA,
passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008 at his home.
Mr. Patterson was born Saturday, July 22,
1922 in Union County, GA, to the late Harley Patterson and the late
Beadie Mae
Turner Patterson. Mr. Patterson attended
Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors
include his loving wife, Regina Foster Patterson of Blairsville; son
&
daughter-in-law, Michael and Elaine Patterson of Dalton; son, Mark
James
Patterson of Blairsville; sister, Jean Raper of Allen park, MI;
grandchildren:
Jason Patterson and Tanya Brown; great grandchildren: Cobey and Alden
Patterson
and Harley Brown. Nieces, nephews
and other
relatives also survive.

services were held Monday, October 20, 2008 at 2 PM from the Mt. Zion
Baptist
Church with Rev. Larry Weaver officiating.
Music was provided by the Mt. Zion Singers.
Interment followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church

Mr. Jan
“Woody” Henri Waller, age 80 of Grace Mtn. Rd., Blairsville passed away
on
Wednesday Oct. 15, 208 in the Union General Hospital following a brief
illness. Mr. Waller was born on April 30k,
1928 in
Indonesia, the son of the late Johan Waller and the late Henriette
Emanuels
Waller. Mr. Waller was a member of the
House of Prayer Church.
Surviving
Mr. Waller are his loving wife, Anita Smith Waller of Blairsville,
three
children, Astrid and Ashwin Shah of Alta Dena, CA, Wendy and Henk Van
Vianen of
Holland, Rick and Lisa Waller of Carrolton, GA, two grandchildren,
Kaylie and
Joyce, many other relatives and friends also survive.
No services
are planned at this time. In lieu of
flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to
a
favorite charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Waller.

Louise
Shattles, age 91 of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Atlanta, passed away
Thursday,
October 16, 2008 at her home. She was
born Thursday, April 19, 1917 in Cobb Co., GA.
Louise was a member of Candler Park Baptist Church and attended
Antioch
Baptist Church in Blairsville. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Charles Shattles and a
grandson,
Scott Shattles.
Survivors
include: son & daughter-in-law, Don & Janice Shattles of
Blairsville,
GA, son & daughter-in-law, Larry & Loretta Shattles of
Alpharetta, GA,
daughter & son-in-law, Lynn & Barry Schaffer, VA, 8
