Mr.
Frank Martin, Jr., age 65, of Lyman Lake Road, died October 22, 1997 at
his
home.
He was a
native of Blairsville, GA., son of Alwayne Stalcup
Martin, of Blairsville, and the late Frank martin, Sr.
He retired after 25 years form Clarkson
Brothers. He attended Liberty united
Methodist
Church and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a
member of the
Hejaz Temple, and the Irving Southworth Blue Lodge, Lyman..
Surviving
in addition to his mother are: his wife,
Betty Gene
Painter Martin of the home; two brothers, Sam Martin of Lyman and Jack
Martin
of Blairsville; three sisters, Dot Mickie of Lawrenceville, GA.,
Deloris
Upchurch of Decatur, GA. And Mary groves of
Monroe, GA.
Funeral
services were held Friday, October 24, 1997 at the Wood Mortuary,
conducted by
Rev. J.C. Duncan. Burial was in the
Hillcrest Memorial gardens. Honorary
escorts were the members of the Mid-City Shrine Club.

Mr.
Clarence Vandiver, age 83, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away
Wednesday,
October 22, 1997 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville. Mr. Vandiver was born in White County,
Georgia, on January 1, 1914, a son of the late Joe Vandiver and Anna
Abernathy
Vandiver. He had lived most of his life
in the Blairsville area and was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church.
Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Viola Vandiver of Blairsville; daughter, Bonnie Sue
Vandiver
of Hayesville, N.C.; step-son, James Thomas of Blairsville;
step-daughter, Judy
Berry of Blairsvlle (sic); two sisters, Minnie and Dollie Vandiver,
both of
Blairsville; grandson, Casey Shadix; step grandsons, Joshua and Joseph
Berry;
granddaughters, Diamond and Autumn Clark; step granddaughters, Jamie
Thomas,
Heather Berry and Tonia Thomas; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, October 24, 1997 at 2 p.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Jerry Young, and Rev.
Horace
Potts officiating. Special music was
presented by Ken and Elaine Young. The
following gentlemen served as pallbearers:
Robert Sosebee, Joshua Berry, A.J. Wimpey, Ronnie Wimpey, B.J.
Clark and
Timmy Hilton. Interment was in Zebulon
Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr.
Mason H. Williams, age 89, of Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of Lake
Worth,
FL., died Friday, October 24, 1997. He
was predeceased by his wife, Amelia Williams, in 1986.
He is
survived by daughters, June Williams Gesch, of
Blairsville, Janice Williams Boland, Blairsville and Wendy Williams
Holden of
lake Worth, FL.; sister, Norma Conroy, of Moorehead (sic) City, N.C.; 5
grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mr. was born in Union
County, GA, to the late and the late.

Mr.
Ray Rhoten, age 65, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Wednesday,
October 15,
1997 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
He was born in Jackson County, Tennessee on August 13, 1932, a son of the
late Clay Rhoten
and Ova West Rhoten. Mr. Rhoten was
a
veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea.
He had lived in the Blairsville area since 1964, coming here
from
Cookville, TN. Mr. Rhoten was a member
of the Blairsville Church of Christ. He
was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Rhoten, and Rose Heady,
and
son, Tommy Rhoten.
Surviving
are his wife, Mrs. Charlene Hollows Rhoten, of Blairsville; son and
daughter-in-law, Dan and Cindi Rhoten of Woodstock, GA; son and
daughter-in-law, Steve and Tammie Rhoten of Blairsville;
daughter-in-law, Pam
Rhoten of Blairsville; brother, Herbert Rhoten of Cookville, TN.;
sisters,
Edith Bennett, Ethel Stewart, and Robbie Stewart, all of Gainesboro,
TN; a step
grandson, Timmy Tate; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives also
survive.
Funeral
services were held Friday, October 17, 1997 at 2 p.m. from the chapel
of
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Minister Terry Stuart
officiating. Special music was presented
by the church
(sic) of Christ Choir. The following
gentlemen served as pallbearers: Harold
Plott, Tommy Dolar, Jim Poe, Earl Odom, Cohen Davis, Ken Hall, Dominick
Biondo,
Hoyt Cunningham, John Ledford, and Larry Garrett. Serving
as honorary escort to the family were
Cecil King and men of the Blairsville Church of Christ.
Interment was in Union memory Gardens
Cemetery.
