juan wilburn garrett

 

            Mr. Juan Wilburn Garrett, better known as "J.W.", age 84, native and lifelong resident of Suches, GA, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his home.

            Mr. Garrett was born in Suches on November 19, 1928, a son of the late John Wilburn Garrett and the late Victoria Seabolt Garrett. He was a carpenter and worked building houses. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Suches.

            Family members left to treasure his memory are his wife, Ruby Lovell Garrett, of Suches; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Sabrina Garrett, of Suches; grandson, Nathan Garrett; three sisters: Napper Moose, Lillian Cain, and Grovie Warren; two brothers, Cline Garrett and Monroe Garrett, all of Suches; many other relatives and friends also survive.

            Graveside services for the family were held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 10 a.m., at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches, with Rev. George Burch and Rev. Rudy Tribble officiating.

ramona faye bonnette

 

            Mrs. Ramona Faye Bonnette, age 84, of Jones Road, Blairsville passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at her residence. She was born December 29, 1928 in Benton, IL to the late Lynn Peek and Learline Reynolds. She moved here from Miami, Fl in 1980. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Blairsville. She served as coordinator with Florida Power and Light retirees for 22 years. She was a volunteer with the 1996 Olympic staff, but most of all loved taking care of her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Earl Bonnette.

Surviving Mrs. Bonnette are one daughter and son-in-law Deborah and John Bruce of Murphy NC, one son, Robert Bonnette of Blairsville, four grandchildren, Ali Mercer of Brasstown NC, Ami Moody of Marietta, Billy Bruce of Murphy NC, Eric and Jillian Bonnette of Saco Maine, five great grandchildren, Aaron Mercer, Bree Mercer, Danielle Moody, Jack Bonnette and Camden Mercer.

Funeral services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Antioch Baptist Church Food Pantry in memory of Mrs. Bonnette.

harold james krohn

 

            Mr. Harold James Krohn, 79, beloved husband of Bette Krohn, died Thursday, October 24, 2013.

            Mr. Krohn was a native of Port Huron, MI, most recently making Aiken, SC and Blairsville, GA his home. Mr. Krohn proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. Prior to moving to Aiken, the Krohn's lived in California and in Grant, FL. Harold enjoyed playing golf, tennis, boating, and traveling the world. One of his greatest passions was restoring antique cars, motorcycles and tractors. Professional, he was a general manager in the computer engineering industry and after retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively by RV. He attended the United Methodist Church. He will be remembered as a close friend, devoted family man, husband and grandfather.

            Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bette Lynn Krohn; a daughter and son-in-law, Cherly Lynn Shafer (Greg), Ellicott City, MD; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin James Krohn (Rachel), Huntington Beach, CA; three grandchildren, Rick Shafer, Boulder, CO, Tara Shafer, Ellicott City, MD, and Konnor Krohn, Huntingon (sic) Beach, CA; and one sister, Virginia Wilson, MI. Mr. Krohn was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Florence Brown Krohn and two brothers.

            A private celebration of life service will be held at the family mountain home in Blairsville, GA.

            Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

robert "steve" stephen daniels, jr.

 

            Mr. Robert “Steve” Stephen Daniels Jr., age 71, of County Line Road, Blairsville passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at his residence. He was born August 8, 1942 in Gailsburg, IL to the late Robert Daniels and Mary Lovdahl Daniels. He moved from Plant City, FL nine years ago. He was a loving father that loved to show his '56 Thunderbird and liked to bowl. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Daniels  in 2007.

            Surviving Mr. Daniels are his four children, Thomas & Melody Daniels of Mechanicsburg, IL, James Morris of Plant City, FL, Connie Daniels of Young Harris, GA, and Stephanie & Joey Lawson of Plant City, FL, his two sisters Lucille Anderson of Moline, IL, and Helen Coe of Ocala, FL. Also surviving are his ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

            Funeral Services were held Friday, October 25, 2013 at 4 PM in the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Jan Devreaux. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to your local Car Club.

leroy fortenberry

 

Mr. Leroy Fortenberry, age 76, of Tritt Road, Suches, GA passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was born April 01, 1937 in Blairsville to the late Clint Fortenberry and Sarah Dora Tow. Mr. Leroy Fortenberry is a lifelong resident. He worked as a subcontractor for sixty years; he also served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife Roberta Fortenberry of Suches, GA; his mother Sarah Fortenberry of Suches, GA; his daughter and three sons, Cindy Marino of Clermont, GA, Roy White Jr. of Moline, IL, Robert White of Clermont, Randy Fortenberry of Dahlonega, GA; along with one brother, Ervin Fortenberry of Blairsville, GA,  one sister and brother-in-law Joyce & Roger Kelley of Blairsville, GA; also surviving are his 11 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held at 2 PM Wednesday October 23, 2013 at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Dr Don Pruitt. The family received friends at the funeral Wednesday from 11 AM – 2 PM. In lieu of flower please make donations to family to help defray expenses.

james edward glover

 

            Mr. James Edward glover age 57 of Hawks Nest Rd., Blairsville, formerly of Largo, FL passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 following a brief illness.  Mr. Glover was born on Sept. 14, 1966 in Hopkinsville, KY, the son of Alice Marie Faulkner Glover and the late Edward Pace Glover.  Mr. Glover was of the Baptist faith.

            Surviving Mr. Glover are his mother and step-father, Alice Marie and Willard Morrow of Blairsville, one sister, Teresa Glover of Philadelphia, PA, several aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

            A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment to follow in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hopkinsville, KY.  In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Gideons for Bibles in memory of Mr. Glover.
