Emilie
Louise Wagner Jones – Mrs. Emilie
Jones, age 94, of Blairsville, GA, passed away October 21, 2010 at
Murphy
Medical Center Nursing Home, Murphy, NC.
Emilie was born January 5, 1916 to
the late Paul Henry Wagner and Almira L. Widger Wagner of New York
Mills,
NY. She graduated from NY Mills High
School in 1933, and the Excelsior School of Business in 1935 in Utica,
NY. On June 1, 1940 Emilie was married to
Hubert C.
Jones of Utica, NY at Plymouth Congregational Church.
In 1951 they moved to Arlington, VA where she
and her husband worked at the Pentagon for the United States Air Force. In 1959 the family moved to the Sunnadin in
Inlet, NY where they had housekeeping cottages and Emilie took care of
the
rentals and upkeep. Hubert returned to
work at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY until 1968.
Emilie and Hubert later joined their son at
his Fern’s Hotel, Restaurant and Gift Shop in Old Forge, NY. In 1976 they left upstate NY and retired to
Blairsville, GA.
Emilie was very active in the AARP,
NARFE and the Eastern Star. Her favorite
hobby and job was teaching ceramic classes at Branan Lodge-Wesley Mt.
Village. She also started her own
business, Pine Tree Ceramics specializing in custom ceramics. She was very active with her church family at
Coosa Methodist Church.
She is
survived by
her two children, Hubert A. Jones,, son, Blairsville, GA.
Her daughter, Elizabeth Jane Jones Hiers,
wife of Robert Hiers of Winter Haven, FL.
Two grandsons, Christopher Hiers and wife Colleen of Lakeland,
FL, and
Dana Hiers and wife Jamie of Eagle Lake,
FL. Three great-grandsons, Chance,
Carter and Ethan Hiers. One
great-granddaughter, Megan Hiers. Her
brother, Paul Frederick Wagner, Commander retired U.S. Navy and wife
(Anita),
Arlington, VA., their son, Paul Frederick Wagner II, Arlington, VA and
daughter
Karen E. Wagner, Atlanta, GA. Her sister
Isabel Wagner Ames has passed away and is survived by her husband
Richard and
three children, Jennifer, Marcia and John Ames.
In lieu
of flowers,
the family respectfully requests memorials be made to Good Shepherd
Home Health
and Hospice Agency, P.O. Box 465, Hayesville, NC 28904.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, GA.

Mrs.
Susan Marie Killian, age 52, of Hwy
515, Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in Centre,
AL, following
an extended illness. Mrs. Killian was
born on Dec. 13, 1957 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Howard
Dawkins and
the late Cindy Chandler Dawkins. She had
made her home in Blairsville after moving here from Rossville in 1991. She was a loving wife, mother and
sister. Mrs. Killian was a member of the
Harvest fellowship Church.
Surviving Mrs. Killian are her
husband, Charles Killian of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law,
Chris and
Janet Felder of Hubert, NC, one sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and
Clay
Williams of Centre, AL, two brothers, Clarence Dawkins of Prattville,
AL,
Stephen Baugh of Ringold, GA, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
A memorial service will be held at a
later date and will be announced. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be
made to
the American Cancer society in memory of Mrs. Killian.

Iola
(Rohring) Sherrie, age 93 of Blairsville,
GA, passed away on October 27, 2010 after a short illness at her
daughter’s
home.
Mrs. Sherrie was born in Wilson, NY
on September 10, 1917 the daughter of the late Edward and Clara Rohring.
She married Norbert C. Sherrie in
1937 who pre-deceased her on April 16, 1977.
also pre-deceased by a brother Harold Rohring.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church
in Wilson, NY.
While living in Wilson she belonged
to the Wilson Fire Co. Auxilliary (sic) and was a Cub Scout Leader. She worked at Walkers Apparel Store then
Okie’s Pharmacy for many years.
In 1979 she moved to Florida, then
North Carolina and finally Blairsville, GA where she lived at Branan
Lodge for
six years and enjoyed reading, playing bingo and going on bus trips
with many
of her friends. Mrs. Sherrie also liked
helping her daughter and son-in-law with their Alpaca Farm.
Mrs. Sherrie is survived by her
children, Lynn (Helen) Sherrie of Wilson, NY, Joanne (Lee) Mansfield of
Blairsville, GA and Roger Sherrie of Lockport, NY.
She is also survived by her six
grandchildren, Paula, Lon, Tracey, Alec, Lydia and Emma and seven great
grandchildren, Andrea, Joey S., Michelle, Joey H., Amber, Brooke, and
Layne. Also survived by brother and
sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at a
later date at the convenience of the family in Wilson, NY with Pastor
Ron
Haefer at North Ridge Cemetery.

Mr.
Daniel “Dan” John Paolillo, age 38, of
Cherrie Lane, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 at his
home
following a brief illness. Mr. Paolillo
was born on July 26, 1972 in Edison, NJ,
the son of Richard Paolillo and Mary Jane Cassidy Paolillo. Dan was a graduate of Teen Challenge of WNC,
a graduate of the Florida Culinary Institute.
He loved to cook and was a proud classically trained pastry chef. He loved sports and was a big Dolphins
fan. Dan always had a smile for
everyone. He was a loving son, brother,
fiancé, father and uncle. Dan attended
the Blairsville Church of God.
Surviving Daniel are his fiancée,
India M. Trapp of Blairsville, his parents, Richard and Mary Paolillo
of
Blairsville, one brother, Mark A. Paolillo of Eatonton, a niece, Morgan
Paolillo, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on
Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at 5 p.m. from the Mountain View Chapel with the
Rev. John
Davis officiating. Special music was
presented by Rev. John Davis. The family
met with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family
requests that donations may be made to help defray funeral expenses in
Dans’s
(sic) memory.

Mr. Don
Michael Lance, age 52, of
Blairsville, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2010 in the Union
General
Hospital following a brief illness. Mr.
Lance
was born on Sept. 21, 1958 in Atlanta, GA, the son of Don Ray Lance and
Ruenelle Head Lance. He was a veteran of
the US Navy. He was a lifelong resident
of Union County and Atlanta. Mike enjoyed
hunting, fishing, boating and camping.
He loved to talk, joke and make everyone laugh.
He had a natural talent for pencil and ink
drawing. Mike could design and build
just about anything out of wood. He
loved being around family and friends.
Mike was a member of the Galilean Baptist church of Norcross and
attended the Harmony Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving Mike are his fiancée,
Nancy Smith of Blairsville, mother and step-father, Ruenelle and Benny
Allen of
Blairsville, father and step-mother, Don ray and Doris Lance of Hiram,
GA,
three children, amber Robinson of Blairsville, Ashley Schurtz of
Atlanta, Shane
Lance of Blairsville, one sister, Leyta Jordan of Atlanta, four
grandchildren,
Aleah Brown, Donavin Clark-Martin, Kamari and Jayden Lance, two nieces,
Kelly
and Laura Jordan, uncle and aunt, Bob and Carol Head of Blairsville,
several
cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on
Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev.
Stacy Dyer officiating. Special music was
presented by Brian
Sosenski. The following gentlemen served
as pallbearers, Danny Everett, Pat Snow, Bruce Meeker, Jim Williams,
Chris
Churchill, Mike Gowder and Randy Meeker.
Interment will follow in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral
home on Monday evening from 6-9 p.m.
