Mrs.
Grace Payne, age 100, of Blairsville, GA, passed away October 27, 2009
at her
home.
Mrs.
Payne was born on June 8, 1909 in Union County, GA, to
the late J.C. and Nettie (Cavender) Hunt.
She was the oldest living member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She taught elementary school for 30 years and
was a member of the retired Teachers Assoc.
Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by infant daughter, Nettie
Virginia
Payne, brothers, Bruce, Pat and James Hayden Hunt, sisters, Myrtle
Brooks and
Blanche Payne.
Survivors
include:
husband of 72 years, Major Payne of Blairsville, GA; daughter
&
son-in-law; Blanche & Jimmy Huddleston of Blairsville, GA;
grandchildren,
Daryl Norwood and Curt Norwood of KY; step grandchildren, Rhonda
Campbell of
VA, and Jim Huddleston III of KY; six great grandchildren; nieces and
nephews,
Myron Brooks of MS, Barbara Reeds of CA, Beverly Thomas of AL, and
Nancy Bryant
of Lawrenceville, GA.
Funeral
services were held Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11 AM from the Cochran
Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Youngblood officiating.
Pallbearers were Ray Davis, Buddy Legg,
Kenneth Dyer, David Bryant, Wendell Murphy and Jackie Teague. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church
Cemetery.

Mrs.
Grapelle Gladys Rollins, age 73, of Crescent Rd., Blairsville, passed
away on
Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 in the Abbey Hospice Center in Social Circle,
GA,
following an extended. Mrs. Rollins was
born on Nov. 9, 1935 in Union County, the daughter of the late Gordon
Brown and
the late Bessie Owenby Brown. She was a
native and lifelong resident of Union County.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Grapelle was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother
and was a friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Maybell and a brother
Barry. Mrs. Rollins was a member of
Shady Grove Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs.
Rollins are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jim and Jackie
Southerland of
Marietta, Joe Southerland of Blairsville, Mike and Audrey Southerland
of
Madison, GA, two sisters, Dolly Burrell of Blairsville, Joyce Swallow
of
Naples, FL, one brother, Jerry Brown of Blairsville, nine
grandchildren,
seventeen great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday Oct. 31, 2009 at 12 PM from the Mountain
View
Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Abernathy officiating.
Special music was presented by Tommy and
Susan Murphy. The following gentlemen
served as pallbearers, L.J. Brown, Derrick Rollins, Joe Burch, Braxton
Martin,
Colby Hughes and Darren Jones. Interment
followed in the Owltown Church of God Cemetery.
The family met with friends at the funeral home on Friday
evening.

Brewery
Dockery, age 83, died October 15, 2009 in Stone Mountain, GA, following
a brief
illness. A native of Union County, he
was the son of the late Ora Dockery Long and was born on November 17,
1925.
He is
survived by his daughter, Karen D. Ivester, of Stone Mountain, GA; one
grandson
Craig Hughes, and great grandson, Caiden Nicholas Hughes, of Stone
Mountain.
A memorial
service will be held in Blairsville and will be announced at a later
date. Karen would like to thank the

their kindness in caring for her father during his illness and

Mr.
Hershel Lloyd Everett, age 79, of Jackson Heights, Blairsville, passed
away on
Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 in the Landmark Hospital in Athens, GA,
following an
extended illness. Mr. Everett was born o
Nov. 5, 1929 in Union County, the son of the late Erwin Everett and the
late
Hattie Satterfield Everett. He enjoyed
racing and fishing. He was a loving
father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Hershel was preceded in death by two sisters,
Everline Heddon and Roberta Drake and by one brother, Jerry Everett. Mr. Everett was a member of Zebulon Baptist
Church.
Surviving Mr.
Everett are two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Frank Collins of
Blairsville, Susie and Eugene Hooper of Cornelia, GA, three sons and
two
daughters-in-law, Rex and Judy Everett of Blairsville, ray and Mary
Everett of
Blairsville, chuck Everett of Cornelia, three brothers and two
sisters-in-law,
Ed and Laura Everett of Blairsville, Herbert Everett of Blairsville,
Mac and
Brenda Everett of Blairsville, eight grandchildren, Todd Hooper, Tosha
Hooper,
Shannon Foster, Sabrina Smith, Johnathan Everett, Jaime Couch, Brandy
Everett
and Jennifer Smith, many other relatives and friends also survive.

services were held on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 at 3 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Hood officiating.
Special music was presented by the Youngstown Singers. Serving as pallbearers were, Wayne Hughes,
Ricky Hughes, Robert Guy, Sam guy, Thomas Nichols and Darvin Couch. Interment followed in the Zebulon Baptist
church Cemetery. The family met with

Mrs.
Sarah
Sadler, age 87, of Bradley Acres Rd., Blairsville, passed away on
Wednesday,
Oct. 28, 2009 in the Clay County Care Center following an extended
illness. Mrs. Sadler was born on Nov. 7,
1921 in Walla
Walla, WA, the daughter of the late Sam and Sarah Loney.
Sarah enjoyed her Wednesday Bridge Club at
Branan Lodge. She was a loving mother,
sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vic Sadler in 1999 and
by a
son, Michael Sadler in 2000. Mrs. Sadler
was of the Unity faith.
Surviving Mrs.
Sadler are a daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Dean Smith of
Blairsville, one
sister, Charlotte Hanafin of Walla Walla, WA, four grandchildren,
eleven
great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
No services
are planned at this time. In lieu of
flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to
the
American Diabetes Association in memory of Mrs. Sadler.

Mr. Larry
Wayne Hopkins, age 54, of Rushy Glen Drive, Blairsville, passed away on
Monday
Oct. 26, 2009 in the Missions Hospital in Asheville, NC following an
extended
illness. Mr. Hopkins was born on Oct. 6,
1955 in Rochester, NH, the son of Nancy Hunt Hopkins and the late
Donald Robert
Hopkins. He was a veteran of the US Air
Force. Larry loved flying remote
controlled
airplanes. He was a very loving father,
son, brother and grandfather. Larry was
of the Episcopal faith.
Surviving Mr.
Hopkins are his mother, Nancy Hopkins of Blairsville, one daughter,
Jennifer
Hopkins of Tampa, FL, one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Charles
Simard of
Blairsville, Uncle, Rev. Marshall and Rev. Victoria Hunt of Cape Cod,
MA, aunt,
Rae and Walter Wilson of Grand Lake, CO, five grandchildren, Melinda,
John-John, Gabby, Taylor and Dillon, several cousins, many other
relatives and
friends also survive.
Interment
and graveside services were held on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at 1 PM
from the
Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with Chaplain See officiating. Military honors were provided by the Military
Honors Division from Dobbins Air Force Base.
A
memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2009 at
2 PM from St. Clare’s Episcopal Church with Rev. James Yeary and Rev.
Marshall
Hunt officiating. The family will meet
with friends following the service. In
lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be
made to
St. Clare’s Church in memory of Larry.
