Mrs.
Lucy Snider, age 94, of Hwy 60, Suches, Georgia, passed away Monday,
October
26, 1998 at the Union County Nursing Home center in Blairsville,
Georgia
following a short illness. Mrs. Snider
was a native of Macon County, North Carolina who had
lived in Fannin County for many years.
She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her Husband:
Tommy Sinder. She is survived by son and
daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Elise Snider, Dahlonega, Georgia,
Grandchildren,
Tammy Kanaday, April Warren and Wendy Snider, great grandchildren,
Katie
Kanaday, Collin warren, and Korri Warren.
Several other relatives also survive.
Funeral
services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday,
October 28, 1998 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega with
Re.
Horace Potts officiating. Interment will
follow in the Cornith Baptist Church Cemetery in Union County. Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega in charge
of arrangements.

Mrs.
Flossie Nichols Wise, age 96, if Marietta, formerly of the Hemp
Community who
passed away Thursday, October 29th in Marietta.
Born in Union County Georgia, she was the daughter of the late
John and
Callie Rector Nichols. She was the
former teacher in Union County, teaching in a one room school, and was
a member
of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William Herbert
Wise in
1981.
She is
survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Ruth and Tip Davenport of
Marietta,
and Louise and Ed Hannah of Madison, Georgia a brother and
sister-in-law, Rev.
Ellard and Anna Lou Nichols of Blairsville; a sister-in-law, Anne Mae
Nichols
of Blairsville; grandchildren and spouses, Patty Davenport, Larry and
Laura
Davenport, Judith and Tom Skidmore, Jennifer and Rusty Griffin, and
Meredith
and Emory Schroeter; and great grandchildren, Lew Griffith, Hunter
Griffith,
and Corinnee Davenport.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, October 31st, 1998 at 2 p.m. from the
Liberty Hill
United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Harris and Rev. Tom Kerr
officiating. Music was by Judy Thomas. The following have been selected to serve as
pallbearers: Larry Davenport, Tom Skidmore, Rusty Griffin, Emory
Schroeter,
Larry Brackett, and Sammy Nichols.
Interment followed in Hemptown Cemetery.

Mr.
Ralph William Gibson, Sr., age 81, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away
Saturday, October 24, 1998 in Blairsville.
Mr. Gibson
was born in Clay County, North Carolina, on Sunday, October 29, 1916, a
son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Jarrett Gibson. He
was a lifelong resident of this area, and was a farmer.
Mr. Gibson and his wife Berniece celebrated
sixty-two years of marriage. He had been
preceded in death by his parents, Jarrett and Claude Gibson, and
brothers, Ray,
Pearl and Boyd Gibson.
Surviving
are his wife, Berniece Alexander Gibson, of Blairsville; son and
daughter-in-law, Clarence and Wanda Gibson, of Blairsville; daughter
and son-in-law,
Ruth and William Thompson, of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law,
Patricia
and J.D. Elliott, of Gainesville, son, Ralph Gibson, Jr., of
Blairsville; sister,
Thelma McClure, of Hayesville, NC; brothers: Floyd and Lillian Gibson,
and
Vaughn Gibson, of Hayesville, Manuel and Josephine Gibson, of
Tusquittee, NC;
Barnett and Doris Gibson and Leonard and Geraldine Gibson, all of
Hiawassee,
and sisters-in-law, Euzella Gibson, of Gainesville, Reba Gibson ,of
Hiawassee,
and Blanche Gibson of Florida; twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-one
great
grandchildren also survive, along with a host of other relatives and
many
friends.
Funeral
services were held Monday, October 26, 1998 at 2
p.m. from Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Horace Potts
officiating. Special music was presented
by Ken and Elaine
Young. Grandsons served as pallbearers,
Anthony Harkins, Edward Gibson, Jeff Elliott, Scott and Shawn Gibson,
and Jonathon
Elliott; grandsons also served as honorary escort to the family: Terry,
Tracy,
Mike Elliott, Sam Gibson, Mike, Mark, and Josh Harkins and Tim
Bohannon. with graveside services in New
Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery,
with Re. Stanley Gibson officiating.

arrangements.

Mrs.
Betty King, age 54, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday,
October 30,
1998 in Union General Hospital.
Mrs. King
was born January 24, 1944 in Union County, a daughter of the late
Calvin
Cantrell and Dorothy Ingram Cantrel. She
was a member of Pine grove Baptist Church.
Survivors
include: husband, Rev. Buddy King of Blairsville, Georgia,; children,
Doug King
of Blairsville, GA; Rhonda Queen of Blairsville; Debra Gable of Homer,
GA; Pete
King of Blairsville, GA; and Amy Botts of Blairsville, GA; mother,
Dorothy
Cantrell of Blairsville, GA; sister Frances Lee of Blairsville, GA;
brother,
Larry Cantrell of Blairsville, GA; ten grandchildren, two great
grandchildren,
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held November 1, 1998 from the Chapel
of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Potts and Rev. Dallas Crowder
officiating. Music was by the Benny Shook
Family. Pallbearers were Charlie Byers,
Kenneth
Grizzle, Larry Helton, Gary Lee, Jody Cantrell and Tommy Rogers. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Richard Sarrell
and Larry Henderson. Interment was in
Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery.
