mr. jimmy roy lynch

 

            Mr. Jimmy Roy Lynch, 35, Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, October 24, 1996 in Hiawassee, GA, from injuries sustained in an accident. 

Mr. Lynch was a native of Mt. Clements, Michigan, and was born there on October 28, 1960.  He was self-employed logger, and had lived most of his life in this area.  Mr. Lynch was a member of Old Fashion Baptist Church of Murphy.  He had been preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Grace Lynch, of Michigan; a sister, Tammy Ranae Lynch, in 1971; Grandfather, James Bert Payne, in 1983; and son, Daniel Jerome Lynch, in 1982.

            Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Patterson Lynch, of Blairsville; his parents, Roy and Brenda Lynch, of Blairsville, and Carol Ann and Denny Gray, also of Blairsville; sons, Jimmy Justin Lynch, and Jacob Lynch, both of Blairsville; maternal grandmother Doris Butram and step grandfather, Jerry Butram, both of Blairsville; brothers, Roy Edward Lynch, Danny Gray, Robert Gray, Eric Gray and Tony Lynch, all of Blairsville; sisters, Debbie Passmore and Trudy Lockaby, both of Blairsville; nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

            Funeral services were held Sunday, October 27, 1996 at 2:30 p.m. from Old Fashion Baptist church (sic) on Martin’s Creek with Rev. Hoyt Brown, Rev. Max Lockaby, and Rev. Buford Duckworth officiating.  Special music was presented by Frank Dockery and the Old Fashion Church Choir.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Marty Chutt, Jerry Young, Dwayne Patterson, Robert Truett, Danny Payne, and John Payne.  The following gentlemen served as honorary escort to the family: Tony Dockery, Ricky Rich, Robert Sosebee, Jim Corbin, Bill McClelland, and Chad Rich.  Interment was in Pleasant Hill Baptist church Cemetery. 

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.

mr. john blanchard brendle, III

 

            Mr. John Blanchard Brendle, III, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, October 28, 1996. 

Mr. Brendle  was born on December 16, 1956, in Macon County, North Carolina.  He was a lifelong resident of this area, and a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville. 

            Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sandra Ramey Brendle, of the home; daughter, Jessica Brendle and son, John Blanchard Brendle, IV, both of Blairsville; parents, J. B. and Betty Brendle, of Blairsville; Maternal grandmother, Marjorie G. Smith of Young Harris; sisters: Marjorie Hyatt and Cynthia Brendle, both of Blairsville, and brothers, Grover Brendle of Blairsville and James Brendle of Altamonte Springs, FL; many other relatives and friends also survive.

            Funeral services were held Thursday, October 31, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Abernathy officiating.  Kathy Stover and Susan Jones presented the special music.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Tommy Murphy, Avery Mason, Leslie Lee, Randy Gibby, James Nix, and Michael Nix.  Interment was in Union Gardens Cemetery.

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.

mrs. sue castello

 

            Mrs. Sue Castello, 50, of Suches, Georgia, passed away Friday, November 1, 1996. 

Mrs. Castello was born in Howell County, Missouri, on June 26, 1946, a daughter of the late Pearl Leonard Copeland and Iva Myrtle Williams Copeland.  Mrs. Castello had been living in this area for eight years, coming here from Alabama.  She was a member of the Worldwide Church of God. 

            Surviving are her husband, Mr. Pete Castello of Suches; daughters, Pamela Carson, of Fultondale, Alabama; Lisa Burnes and Michele Castello, both of Suches; sisters, Juanita Collins, of Norcross, GA and Regina Sanford, of Houston, Texas; brothers, Jackie Copeland and Billie Copeland, both of Jonesboro, GA; grandchildren: Daryl Carson and Iva Marie Carson, of Fultondale, Alabama and Conner Burnes and Callie Burnes, both of Suches. 

            Funeral services were held Sunday, November 3, 1996 at 2 p.m. from Zion Baptist Church with Rev. David Johnson officiating.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Bob Castello, David Castello, Jerry Castello, Daryl Carson, Robert Burnes, and J. D. Collins.  Interment was in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.  

            Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.

mrs. anne richey dowdy

 

            Mrs. Anne Richey Dowdy, 73, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 1996 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville. 

Mrs. Dowdy was born on May 22, 1996 in Banks County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Ernest Baker Rickey (sic) and Lillie Dale McGalliand.  She had been living in this area since 1984, and was a member of the House of Prayer Interdenominational Church in Blairsville. 

            Surviving are her husband, Mr. Lynwood Dowdy, of Blairsville; son, Thomas L. Dowdy, of Blairsville; daughter, Evelyn a (sic) Bowling of Hiawassee; brother, Wenton Richey, of Commerce, Georgia; and sister, Joyce Jordan of Blairsville; granddaughter, Heather Dawn Miller of TN. 

            Funeral services were held Thursday, October 31, 1996 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.  Special music was presented by Mrs. Mildred Lecroy.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers:  Gary Kelley, ray Marley, Shannon Hone, Ed Higgins, Bill Gray, and Gene Loughrey.  Interment was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.  

            Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.

mr. ray c. daniel

 

            Mr. Ray C. Daniel, 72, died October 28 at his home in Akron, OH after a yearlong illness.  Born in Blairsville, GA, he was an area resident most of his life.  He worked for 26 years as a machinist for Marco Manufacturing.  He was a member of Yale’s Coon Hunters Association.

            He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; sons, Dan and Tom; daughters, Barb Hanna and Patsy Myers; brothers, Wayne, Clyde, Tallmadge, and Roy; sisters, Bertha, May, Cliffie, Dorothy, and Pauline; seven grandchildren two great-grandchildren; dear friend, Joe Franks. 

            Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 30 at 11 a.m. at the Schermesser Funeral Home, Suburban South Chapel, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Route 619), with Pastor Ken Morrison officiating.  Interment at East Liberty Cemetery.
