Mr. James C. "Jay
Bird" Stephens age 85 of Lake Point, Blairsville passed away on
Saturday,
Nov. 3, 2012 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended
illness. Mr. Stephens was born on Sept. 2 1927 in Union County, the son
of the
late George Stephens and the late Sallie Young Stephens. He was a
native and
lifelong resident of Union County. Jay Bird was preceded in death by
his
parents and also two sisters, Betty Barnes and Mary Lou Stephens and by
two
brothers, Jewell and Mack Stephens and one nephew, Hoyt Stephens. Mr.
Stephens
was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving
Mr. Stephens are a sister-in-law, Reida Stephens of Blairsville, five
nieces
and nephews, Teddy Barnes of Blairsville, David Stephens of Snellville,
Elaine
Dotson of Young Harris, Lavita Totherow of Blairsville, Shirley Dyer of
Gainesville, Sharon Owenby of Dahlonega, brother-in-law, Oris Barnes of
Blairsville, ten great nieces, nephews, several great-great nieces,
nephews,
many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the
Mountain View
Chapel with the Rev. Guy Bradley officiating. Special music was
presented by
Gloria Griggs. The following gentleman served as pallbearers: Sammy
Owenby,
Wesley Owenby, Teddy Barnes, Bretney Barnes, Cheston Barnes and Caroll
Dotson. Interment
followed in the Providence Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation
started on
Monday at 9 a.m. and the family especially met with friends at the
funeral home
on Monday from 12-2 p.m. prior to the services.

Mr. Danny Conley, age
47, of Tanyard Street, Blairsville, passed away on Monday, October 29,
2012 in
the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr.
Conley
was born on November 16, 1964 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, the son of the
late
Charles R. Conley and the late Patricia Cole Conley. Danny was a strong
willed
individual who lived life "his way" up to the very end. He enjoyed
NASCAR and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He loved spending time with his
family
and his sons who were his best friends.
Surviving
Danny are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Stephen Conley of
Blairsville,
Nicholas and Katrina Burgess of Murphy, NC, one sister, Debbie Koontz
of
Columbia, MO, extended family are, Freya Kent Burgess and "little"
Nicholas Burgess, nieces, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A
private time will be held for the family at a later date. In lieu of
flowers if
you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Union
County
Dialysis in Danny’s memory. The family wishes to thank Union County
Dialysis
Center for taking so good of care of Danny and family in their time of
need.

Mary Lou Revell, age 94,
of Blairsville, GA, formally of Wauchula, passed away October 31, 2012
in
Blairsville. She was born December 24, 1917 in Dothan, AL. Mary was
preceded in
death by her beloved husband Norman Revell, Sr., her parents Charlie P.
and
Minnie Lee Davis Williamson; one son Norman "Keith" Revell; and one
brother Henderson Williamson.
She
is
survived by two daughters Ruby Shiver and husband James of Blairsville,
GA,
Johnnie Avart and husband William of Blairsville, GA; four brothers
Howard
Williamson and wife Freida of Bowling Green, James Williamson and wife
Mable of
Wauchula, Jerry Williamson of Hickory, NC, Roy Williamson and wife Faye
of
Bowling Green; two sisters Lola Mae Shiver of Bowling Green, Maxine
Motes of
Ocala; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and eight
great-great
grandchildren.
Visitation
was
from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Ponger-Kays-Grady
Funeral
Home 404 W Palmetto St, in Wauchula.
Services
followed the visitation in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home
with
Rev. Patrick Shiver officiating. Burial was in Fort Green Baptist
Cemetery.
