robert cecil crisp

            Mr. Robert Cecil Crisp, age 84, of Whittler’s Mountain Rd., Murphy, NC, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Nov. 1, 2006 at his home following an extended illness.  Mr. Crisp was born on Jan. 11, 1922 in Proctor, NC, the son of the late Robert Lee Crisp and the late Minnie Odessa Swanson Crisp.  He was a Master Electrician by trade and was a veteran of the US Army of WWII.  He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-seven years, Jacquelyn Stout Crisp in 2004, also by two brothers, J.C. and Troy Crisp, and two sisters, Margie Stinson and Nina Sawyer.  Mr. Crisp was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.

            Surviving Mr. Crisp are one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Roy Hoover of Murphy, two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Carol Crisp and John and Joy Crisp, all of Sebastian, FL, eight grandchildren, Jo Ann Smith, Crystal Holloway, John Crisp Jr., Wesley Rogers, Robert Orin Crisp, Renee martin, Amber Rogers and Ashton Crisp, twelve great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

            Funeral services were held on Friday Nov. 3, 2006 at 2 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Loys Waters officiating.  A Eulogy was given by Crystal Holloway and Robert Orin Crisp.  Special music presented were some of Mr. Crisp’s favorite hymns.  The following gentleman serves as pallbearers, Roy Hoover, Wesley Rotgers, Jerry Holloway, Said Jemmett, Mike Martin, Robert Orin Crisp and Tyler Holloway.  Interment followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery with Masonic Rites conducted by the Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114 F&AM.

mr. frank l. fitts, jr.

Mr. Frank L. Fitts, Jr., age 86, of Suches, GA died Monday, October 30, 2006 at the Oconee Regional medical Center in Milledgeville, GA following an extended illness.  Mrs. Fitts was a native of Dahlonega, GA who had lived in Suches for the past seven years.  He was a former resident of Marietta, GA.  He was an aeronautical engineer and retired from Lockheed after 32 years of service.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marietta and also served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII.

Mr. Fitts was the son of the late Frank L. Fitts, Sr. and Nannie Lou McHan Fitts.  He was preceded in death by two sons, David Worley Fitts and “Ricky” Frank Richard Fitts.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Marianne and Steve Pruitt of Suches, GA, Sandra and Steve Queen of Fairmount, GA; son, Mark Fitts of Marietta, GA; sister, Nancy Bailey of Pensacola, FL, grandchildren, Russ and Allison Conravey, David Conravey, William Pruitt, Morgan Pruitt, Whitney Queen, Anna Queen, and Brandi Fitts; great-granddaughter, Natalie Conravey.  A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Fitts were held Friday, November 3, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Zion Baptist Church in Suches, GA with Rev. Russell Lyle and Dr. Don Pruitt officiating.  The remains were placed in state at the church on Friday at 1 p.m.  The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
