Mr.
Fairdie Payne, age 64, of Pat Colwell
Rd., Blairsville, passed away on October 31, 2010 at his home following
an
extended illness. Mr. Payne was born on
May
9, 1945 in Union County, the son of the late Fred Payne and the late
Callie
Bingham Payne. He was a native and
lifelong resident of Union County.
Fairdie enjoyed fishing and working with all kinds of animals. He was a loving and kind person and was a
friend to many. He was preceded in death
by a brother, Thomas White and an uncle, Lonnie Bingham.
Mr. Payne was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Payne are two sons,
Robert Payne and Stacey Payne both of Toccoa, GA, niece and nephew,
Sandra and
Alfred Jones of Blairsville, cousins, Lorean Henson, Blake Jones,
Dianna Allen,
Brenda Baker, Linda Jones, Sandra Lozana, Sarah Jones, Faye Thomas,
Glenda
Tanner, Liz West, Ruth Cheek, Randolph Jones, Joseph Mealor, Debra
Stephens,
aunts, Ruby Jones and Lucille Brackett, many other relatives and
friends also
survive.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday,
Nov. 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev.
Dell Tanner
officiating. Special music was presented
by Herman and Lavada Cheek and Joshua Dills.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Blake Jones,
Alfred
Jones, Vincent Howard, R.L. Ledford, Randy Ledford and Randy Colwell. Interment followed in the Liberty Baptist
Church Cemetery where he will rest next to his parents.
The family met with friends at the funeral
home on Tuesday evening from 5-9 p.m.

Mr. James
(BetterKnown as Buster) sic Walker
Bussell, age 62, of Tanyard St., Blairsville, passed away on Monday,
Nov. 1,
2010 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Bussell was born on July 24, 1948 in
Clayton,
GA, the son of the late Dommon H. Bussell and the late Milan Maude
Martin
Bussell. Buster served our country in
the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War.
Buster enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.
He was a loving father, uncle and was a friend
to many. He was preceded in death by his
sister, Deborah Buckner in 2002 and a niece, Stacy Corn in 2010. Buster was a member of the First Untied
Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Bussell are four
children, Rebecah Bussell of Gracemont, OK, Michelle Burrell of
Hayesville, NC,
Tammy Bussell of Andrews, NC, Jaime Bussell of El Reno, OK, one nephew,
Tony
Brown of Chickasha, OK, many other relatives and friends and a host of
his
church family also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a
alter date and will be announced. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be
made to
help defray expenses in memory of Buster.

Mr.
Daniel “Dan” John Paolillo, age 38, of
Cherrie Lane, Blairsville, passed away on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 at his
home following
a brief illness. Mr. Paolillo was born
on July 26, 1972 in Edison, NJ, the son of Richard Paolillo and Mary
Jane
Cassidy Paolillo. Dan was a graduate of
Teen challenge of WNC, a graduate of the Florida Culinary Institute. He loved to cook and was a proud Classically
Trained Pastry Chef. He loved sports and
was a big Dolphins fan. Dan always had a
smile for everyone. He was a loving son,
brother, fiancé, father and uncle. Dan
attended the Blairsville Church of God.
Surviving Daniel are his fiancée,
India M. Trapp of Blairsville, one son, Daniel Anderson Paolillo of
Blairsville, his parents, Richard and Mary Paolillo of Blairsville, one
brother, Mark A. Paolillo of Eatonton, a niece, Morgan Paolillo, many
other
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Monday,
Nov. 1, 2010 at 5 p.m. from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. John
Davis
and Rev. Al Beck officiating. Special
music was presented by Rev. John Davis.
The family met with friends at the funeral home on Monday
evening from
3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers if you wish,
the family requests that donations may be made to help defray funeral
expenses
in Dan’s memory.

Mrs.
Susan Marie Killian, age 52, of Hwy
515, Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in Centre,
AL, following
an extended illness. Mrs. Killian was
born on Dec. 13, 1957 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Howard
Dawkins and
the late Cindy Chandler Dawkins. She had
made her home in Blairsville after moving here from Rossville in 1991. She was a loving wife, mother and
sister. Mrs. Killian was a member of the
Harvest Fellowship Church.
Surviving Mrs. Killian are her
husband, Charles Killian of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law,
Chris and
Janet Felder of Hubert, NC, one sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and
Clay
Williams of Centre, AL, two brothers, Clarence Dawkins of Prattville,
AL,
Stephen Baugh of Ringold, GA, many other relatives and friends also
survive.
A memorial service will be held at a
later date and will be announced. In
lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be

the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Killian.

Captain
John J. Gargan Sr., age 86, of
Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Union
General
Hospital in Blairsville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Gargan was born on May 14, 1924
in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late William and Nora Gargan. He had moved to Blairsville in 1988 from
Islamorada, Florida, after retiring from his charter boat business.
John was
preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Whitelaw Gargan, in 2002. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather
and great-grandfather. He lived to hunt
and fish.
Mr. Gargan was a World War II
veteran of the US Coast Guard in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS
Centaurus
AKA17. In march 2010 he was presented
with a citation of recognition and appreciation for his service and
made a
honorary member of the coast Guard academy Class of 1962.
Surviving
family
members include his son and daughter-in-law, John and Jackie Gargan Jr.
of
Islamorada, FL; daughter and son-in-law Carol Ann and David Tanner of
Blairsville, GA, brother, William Gargan of Spruce Head, ME;
grandchildren and
spouses, Rick and Kammie Gargan of Tallahassee, FL; Kelly Gargan of
Islamorada,
FL; Joe and Christina Gargan of Coral Gables, FL; Lori and Manny
Jimenez of
Fort Lauderdale, FL; great-grandchildren, Derick and Ciara Gargan and
Zane and
Taylor Jimenez; and many other friends.
A Celebration of Life service was
held from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville at 11 a.m.
on
Tuesday, November 9, 2010 with Father John Conway and Deacon John Mason
of St.
Anthony’s Catholic Church of Blue ridge officiating.
The family received friends Monday, November
8, 2010 from 6 until 8 p.m. Interment
was held in Union memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors
provided by
the North Georgia Honor Guard.
